To ask how long you waited to have sex after baby?

Bells3032 · 10/01/2022 22:06

Baby is three weeks old and thanks to a combination of a fast labour and tiny baby there is very little damage down there (had one stitch). Is it weird that i am horny and raring to go. But I think it may be too soon physically plus need to get condoms (don't want another baby soon).

How long did you wait and how was it? Any regrets?

@DramaAlpaca

You lost me at 'Irish twins'.

I take it you are unaware how offensive that phrase is?

Sorry I can't see where this phrase was used or who used it
sidesplittinglol · 10/01/2022 23:26

Ok I see the post was edited hence why I couldn't see it. Sorry

BatshitBanshee · 10/01/2022 23:26

Well after the 6 week check up. I had a traumatic labour & stitches. I bled for 5 weeks then went straight into a period.

Don't ever, ever use the term Irish twins. It's one thing to use it when you are Irish - as I am - but for someone who isn't Irish to use it it's extremely offensive and derogatory.

MissTrip82 · 10/01/2022 23:29

Whenever you’re comfortable.

Irish twins isn’t a ‘racist’ term, good grief people are ignorant. It may be bigoted or derogatory but certainly not racist. ‘Irish’ isn’t a race.

aaaaaaaaaaaah · 10/01/2022 23:30

OP has already apologised for using the term and asked for it to be edited which it has been

mediumbrownmug · 10/01/2022 23:32

As long as we were told to wait, which was six weeks. The doctor high fived us at the six week appointment. Apparently not many couples of hers manage to abstain, but I had quite bad “fallout”, so to speak, and wasn’t up for it anyway. Blush

AliceMcK · 10/01/2022 23:36

O god I was raring to go before I even left the hospital every time. I don’t think I’ve ever been so horny in my life. Can’t remember how long I waited but I think I forced myself to wait a couple of weeks.

faithfulbird20 · 10/01/2022 23:38

Probably when I stopped bleeding and wasn't sore from the stitches from tearing.

Ohh I didn't know it was a racist term either. I thought it was a cute term used after the first set of babies who were born with a small age gap happened to be Irish.

StarryNightSparkles · 10/01/2022 23:39

With dc 1 it was a few weeks and with dc 2 it was the next day. It must have been the hormones the minute I got discharged and home I jumped dh 😳

MaternityMama · 10/01/2022 23:42

5 weeks.. 2nd degree tear after episiotomy & forceps. I found it quite sore to begin with still the odd bit sore when just starting off & DD is 7months old now.. but the more you do it, the easier it gets 🙂 take it slow to start.. congratulations xx

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 10/01/2022 23:42

About seven months, awful pregnancy, horrific labour, episiotomy followed by Reynaud's syndrome in my nipples, mastitis and a baby who wouldn't be put down. I consider myself a hero for it only being 7 months. People saying five days etc weren't you still bleeding very heavily?

NinaProudman2022 · 10/01/2022 23:48

Less than two weeks with both DC’s.

sunshineandshowers40 · 10/01/2022 23:50

DC1 6 weeks
DC2 2 weeks
DC3 8 months

Joesmummy1 · 10/01/2022 23:51

Oh but it feels good to be offended

afizzysweet · 10/01/2022 23:51

5 weeks. Had an episiotomy and stitches due to a big big baby. Was raring to go after 1 week!

HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 10/01/2022 23:55

About 5 years so far…..

Emsie1987 · 10/01/2022 23:55

Six months. Third degree tear
My friend had sex within a week.
My midwife told me about a couple having sex in the post natal ward.

Mufasa1118 · 10/01/2022 23:56

I'm in Ireland. Of course the term Irish twins is an offensive.

It is a term used for children born close together, because fifty years ago Irish women were forbidden by the Catholic church to use any contraception, and many of these women were raped by their husbands, so they had many children born close together

My Irish mother has told me about her mother (my gran). She told me that my gran would just be home from hospital after giving birth, and her husband would rape her, making her pregnant again. Contraception was totally banned in Ireland at that time.

That is is why "Irish twins" is offensive

Hemingwayscatz · 10/01/2022 23:56

6 weeks with my first but I had an awful delivery with a heck of a lot of stitches after an extended episiotomy which then burst open and got infected- nice.

Think it was 2-3 weeks after DC2 and 3. DC4 and 5 were c-sections so about 4 weeks.

Mufasa1118 · 10/01/2022 23:58

So we all know what we are talking about , "Irish twins" has been used to describe children born in the same year, but who are not twins.

So a child born nine months after the last child.

It is not a nice term
For the reasons I stated above

ShrillSiren · 11/01/2022 00:00

3 weeks - emergency c-section
13 days - ELCS
8 days - ELCS

Jinglemychristmasbells · 11/01/2022 00:07

I waited for the bleeding to stop. So was roughly 7 weeks.

ChimpyChops · 11/01/2022 00:11

Can't remember with my first but was before the 6 week check.

2 weeks with my youngest.

sunflowerroses · 11/01/2022 00:14

8 weeks after the first and it was painful so we had to take it very slow. Second time after 6 week check and didn't hurt at all.

WeBurnedSoBrightWeBurnedOut · 11/01/2022 00:17

I would say around 6 months with both DC. Episiotomy with DC1, trying to breastfeed but failing and expressing around the clock. DC2 I couldn't sit down for about a week! Successful breastfeeding and boobs would literally turn to bricks and spray at the slightest touch! Never felt less like having sex. Kudos to the 2 weekers!
