To ask if you orgasm during sex

Tootaloo · 18/12/2021 21:36

This is something that's always made me feel different to other women, for some reason. I've NEVER been able to orgasm during sex, ever. Or through any type of penetration.

Is this quite common?

YABU - Yes, you're able to
YANBU - No, you can't either

If you've found this page in your search of the best sex toys that can help you achieve orgasm and have been recommended by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best sex toys for women useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

Yes, I orgasm very easily.

me4real · 18/12/2021 22:47

I love PIV, it is sex for me really. I just must be lucky somehow, I appreciate that it doesn't do much physically for a lot of women.

PermanentTemporary · 18/12/2021 22:47

@Echobelly I would say that every single advice column, book, therapist and man I talked to in trying to orgasm with a partner was useless or actively unhelpful.

(OK there were a couple of helpful things - the website omgyes being one of them).

Glowmaintenance · 18/12/2021 22:48

Yes every single time, I can have both vaginal and clitoral orgasms. I prefer piv orgasims over clitoral stimulation orgasims. It helps that dh is well endowed but I've always been able to achieve both with previous partners too.

I did not realise I was in the minority until I read this post.

rhowton · 18/12/2021 22:49

From just PIV, I have only once come remotely close.

k1233 · 18/12/2021 22:49

See, I find orgasms from oral to be quite disappointing and really need PIV to be satisfied. Very selective about who I sleep with and it pays off with satisfying sex. Orgasm is not position dependent and is not limited to once only.

Timeisavirtue · 18/12/2021 22:49

Sometimes he’s sometimes no, I don’t get upset if I don’t, it is what it is.

Voice0fReason · 18/12/2021 22:53

This is almost entirely down to your physiology.
If your clitoris is close to your vagina (about 2.5cm or less) then you are more likely to be able to orgasm from penetration alone.
For everyone else (the vast majority of women), they need additional direct clitoral stimulation.
Some positions may increase clitoral stimulation and that may help some women.

me4real · 18/12/2021 22:54

It's not a vaginal orgasm that I have, it's the same as my normal orgasm, but without the clit being deliberately worked on.

DontWantTheRivalry · 18/12/2021 22:55

Sometimes I think that without vibrators and masturbation the levels of joy in my life would be much less Grin

HaaaaaveyoumetTed · 18/12/2021 22:57

@BirdsRoundandRound

Also really interested with those who say they can - is it literally just the PIV bit that works for you, with no clitoral stimulation needed?
Yep.
HaaaaaveyoumetTed · 18/12/2021 22:58

Well, the piv does stimulate the clitoris for me.

me4real · 18/12/2021 23:05

I’m selfish. I get mine and fuck him. It’s all about me.

Tbh my partner is the same about me

@Tootaloo Oh dear. #DumpHim

@BirdsRoundandRound It somehow must be, or 'doggy style' wouldn't be my favourite. A warm up/foreplay with groping etc definitely helps though.

@DontWantTheRivalry For sure. Magic Wand all the way. Smile

Deadringer · 18/12/2021 23:07

Dream orgasms are the best, now that i think of it, i haven't had one for ages.

blubberball · 18/12/2021 23:08

Yes, multiple with my current partner. Previously no. I also can't/don't masturbate, and I can't get off by myself. I need my partner.

I love a dream orgasm

This exactly. I much prefer PIV orgasms to anything else. However, I've only ever had this with DH, I've never orgasmed with anyone other than him.
AnneLovesGilbert · 18/12/2021 23:15

How do you get a dream orgasm?! I’ve never had one of those, I feel cheated.

TakeMeToKernow · 18/12/2021 23:17

Only with my current OH and not every single time. Almost always involves some clitoral stimulation, which is down to the position. However, I was 33yrs old when I had my first ever “different” orgasm, which I’m guessing is a gspot orgasm. Didn’t know what the heck was happening. That’s a blue moon occurrence, but my eyes genuinely water, it’s such a crazy feeling of release. First time it happened, it’s a good job it was in lockdown as I was a bit suspicious about how he’d pulled out a new trick after 8yrs together Blush

TakeMeToKernow · 18/12/2021 23:18

And I want one of these dream orgasms!

Elsiebear90 · 18/12/2021 23:20

YABU to call it sex when you mean penetration, there’s more to sex than just penetration, but to answer your question I have never ever orgasmed by penetration alone, even by myself.

RiskyCookie · 18/12/2021 23:20

Only in one particular position, which is on top. I thought it was quite usual not to orgasm solely through penetrative sex.

I know this might sound mental, but sometimes I can manipulate my dreams so that I'm having sex with someone in them. That always does the trick, for me personally.

How on earth did he manage this??

PIV has worked for me, but I was a late starter, didn’t have penetrative sex until I was 25. Prefer PIV to clitoral stimulation
