AIBU to ask if Boris was having a manic episode in his peppa pig speech today?

Just that really

I have a loved one who has bipolar disorder and to me, this looked very much like a manic episode. If so, I hope he gets the help he needs.

But he hasn't tried to use it as an excuse as far as I'm aware. Someone just put it out there as a suggestion to why he was babbling.

I know that. I was saying that tiredness is no excuse, no matter who is giving it as one, and people wouldn't attempt to excuse a woman by saying "maybe she's tired". As a PP stated, if that was Theresa May she would have been torn to shreds.

Thank you for attempting to explain my own reply to me though.

Peregrina · 23/11/2021 10:48

He hasn't done Covid either - that's also nowhere near finished.

generalh · 23/11/2021 10:50

Dead cat to avoid the press talking about him breaking yet another election promise.

3scape · 23/11/2021 10:53

His usual bumbling idiot front to avoid being called out for all sorts and to stamp his iccle foot so the press noticed him again. Didn't you see his smug little grin when the BBC reporter asked him if he was ok. Usual manipulation. That's his only strength. Liars have to be good at manipulation

Well yes precisely.
alborana · 23/11/2021 11:42

He was woefully underprepared and that is completely unacceptable. He should have spent some of Sunday preparing his speech and he clearly didn't do that as he was prancing around at Peppa Pig World.

He wanted to be Prime Minister, a lifetime ambition. He's achieved that but he doesn't actually want to do the job. He needs money and he'll earn more as an ex Prime Minister.

I'm a similar age to Johnson and there's no way I could run the country and be a hands on (mum in my case) dad to a toddler, with a baby on the way. He also has a much younger wife who will have energy levels much greater than his. He's trying to keep up with what Carrie wants from a husband and he's knackered.

And incompetent.

longwayoff · 23/11/2021 13:54

When he rushed back from Glasgow the other day to attend The Telegraph dinner, he was asked, so The European reports, how married life was. He replied that he was suffering 'buyer's remorse'. Didn't take long did it? Perhaps the current Mrs Johnson has had words with him and he's sleeping on their very expensive sofa. Certainly looks as if he is.

ChargingBuck · 23/11/2021 14:00

Johnson has the cold hard eyes & surface charm of the psychopath.

Also, substance abuse. For sure.

Roussette · 23/11/2021 14:00

How humiliating for her to hear this. I suppose he thought his old newspaper chums wouldn't grass him up.

I could almost feel a bit sorry for her. Almost. But not quite

Jaysus.

In what way is this acceptable speech by any professional person?
Ah - I see the remark was at the Garrick (men only club).
Hardly surprising we still live in a rape culture is it, I'm not even sure WTF a purportedly representative PM is doing at a single sex event.

Seems to be enough denial going on from Downing St to be sure it's true - www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/no10-deny-boris-johnson-suing-25497938

A8mint · 23/11/2021 14:08

Can t believe the naivety of so many posters on here, who cant see through his act

nancy75 · 23/11/2021 14:09

Of course it's not untrue, he didn't make that comment at the local communist & socialist club - he was among friends and like minded people. If it's leaked from there it's because he said it

FutureHope · 23/11/2021 14:11

That jeremy vine article is so illuminating, thank you to pp.

God only know what business leaders present were thinking at his speech. Wonder if some of them might actually switch to labour?

Appalling that he took a private jet back from COP 26 to get him to a men-only dinner with his old mates.

nancy75 · 23/11/2021 14:12

How he's got the cheek to say he has buyers remorse.

Has anyone seen the photos from Peppa pig world?
He looks like a bloke you would chuck a couple of quid at to get themselves a hot drink and a sandwich.
If my DH thought he was going out dressed like that I'd send him back upstairs to have a wash and put some proper clothes on.

I have wondered this in the past.

His dreadful performance brought to mind Alan Partridge’s wounded foot speech for ‘Dante Fires.’

Runningwithoutstopping · 23/11/2021 14:46

I can't wait to see the HGNFY take on that.

justasking111 · 23/11/2021 14:46

As for his lack of birth control I despair

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 23/11/2021 14:50

@Cheerfulcharlie

Perhaps it was the after effects of a visit to Peppa Pig World. I seem to remember being quite traumatised from it myself come to think about it.
I don't know, he says he loved it. Grin I guess the politics aren't as challenging in Peppa Pig world and he enjoyed not being out of his comfort zone.

His little face when he was having a ride in the toy car, aww.

longwayoff · 23/11/2021 16:27

Oh, he loved that car. Brrrmmmm brrrmmmm as he said in his speech to the assembled Greats of the CBI. Most impressive.

MrsDThomas · 23/11/2021 16:30

I don’t understand those who are looking for excuses.

He’s a first class dickhead who has brought this country to a grinding halt.

StoneofDestiny · 23/11/2021 16:35

Nothing can excuse this behaviour - but his behaviour certainly underscores why he should not be in charge of the country! He is an idiot, always acts the bumbling fool to disguise the fact he is a dangerous man. He's never been allowed to appear on TV to present, defend or explain government policy - through Brexit or through Covid. Now you can see why.

BorisStopOffendingYourBarber · 23/11/2021 17:41

What I want to know is what have they got on offer at Peppa Pig Land that left Boris in such a state the next day? He’s usually so composed, well put together, professional to a fault and a credit to the UK.

MrsDThomas · 23/11/2021 17:58

Professional and a credit to the Uk?

Blimey.

Did I need to add a 🤣 to my post and put lighthearted as well?! 🤔
charabanctrip · 23/11/2021 18:09

I think he's actually just trolling everyone now. I suppose you can do that when you know you'll never be held to account or challenged by an opposition who are weaker than a wet lettuce on a rainy weekend in Clacton Hmm
