AIBU to ask if Boris was having a manic episode in his peppa pig speech today?

Just that really

I have a loved one who has bipolar disorder and to me, this looked very much like a manic episode. If so, I hope he gets the help he needs.

He just looked hungover in my opinion.

CheeseMmmm · 22/11/2021 22:52

Fuck knows.

My guess is-

Ill prepared
Lost place totally and didn't have even the gist of what to say as ill prepared
Tired/ bored of it/ mind on other things
Tory PM plus business leaders he would imagine friendly audience (maybe why not prepared)
Had no idea where at when lost place and so rather than doing something to get on track even taking couple mins break, yes weird but better than what happened, he went into bozza rambling bollocks approach he used to make his living off.

On the upside, he mentioned Peppa pig world over and over and over and said it's brilliant. And it's been watched/ read by guessing massive majority of population. And I bet they will get more visitors and interest because of it!

1FootInTheRave · 22/11/2021 22:54

I think he's a coke head tbh.

Ruft · 22/11/2021 22:54

He seemed like his usual incompetent, disorganised self, with the difference being that the old ‘what’s he like eh?’ attitude was quite noticeably replaced with ‘what the fuck is this?!’

DrHildegardeLanstrom · 22/11/2021 22:57

He was a bit sniffy. Either got a cold and on meds, or more likely been sorted by Gove

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 22/11/2021 22:58

Bloody hell I just watched this and it was just so bloody embarassing, this isn't some awful pissed celebrity acceptance speech it's the prime minister of england. He looks like he's trying to give a serious speech after accidetnally taking acid.
We're all a laughing stock world wide now, he needs to get a serious grip. It's not endearing AT ALL.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 22/11/2021 23:01

It was awful, just painful to watch.....

Cheerfulcharlie · 22/11/2021 23:05

I just thought he was a bit sleep deprived - he does have a toddler and isn't his second one due very soon?

Cheerfulcharlie · 22/11/2021 23:06

I mean second one with Carrie!

😂 As of Boris does the night feeds! He probably doesn’t even know what the child is called, let alone where the nappies are kept

If a woman tried to use that as an excuse in the workplace then she'd get all of the eye rolls, reminded that her home life should not be impacting her work, and it would be implied that she shouldn't be in her role if she can't keep up.

Emmelina · 22/11/2021 23:17

He’s always painful to watch anyway as he blusters so, but today was on another level. Do you think he may have taken something?

Youngatheart00 · 22/11/2021 23:18

Was definitely concerningly awful today, even for him

Cheerfulcharlie · 22/11/2021 23:18

Perhaps it was the after effects of a visit to Peppa Pig World. I seem to remember being quite traumatised from it myself come to think about it.

Hospedia · 22/11/2021 23:19

And why would anyone try excuse him by saying he might be tired or whatever. He's the Prime Minister, this speech was planned in advanced so he should have been prepared, and he should try and bring some bloody professionalism to the job he's been elected to do especially when he's already under criticism for being incompetent. Now would be the time to show some statesmanship and polish rather than bumble about like drunk Uncle Nigel at a wedding.

The good thing to come out of this is that it looks like the "loveable" buffoon/"I'm your funny mate Bozza" act that got him elected now appears to be wearing very thin, even people I know who were previously rabid in their support of him are questioning what the fuck they voted for.

There are subtle signs that the knives are out for him within the party and I'd expect him to be gone somewhere in the first half of next year. He'll cite his young family and/or his health post-covid, resign with a blustering speech about steering the ship into port, then off he'll fuck into the sunset with a shitload of our cash and a career on the after dinner speech circuit.

MushMonster · 22/11/2021 23:19

He is just distracting us all from the big events.
He will win an Oscar at this rate.

Alcoholic coke head imo…

Erm. I’d check out his linguistic and reasoning skills before child number ‘whatever this one is’ came along… he’s never been the sharpest twig in the forest.
IWouldntHavetoWorkatAll · 22/11/2021 23:21

been sorted by Gove
Hahaha!

Lost place totally and didn't have even the gist of what to say as ill prepared

I think this is it really. He’s got to be PM. Now he’s loosing interest in it all and couldn’t really care less any more. It is the beginning of the end.

MushMonster · 22/11/2021 23:24

Now, I give it to him, talking about Peppa Pig is quite a brave and shocking one! "Come on, all of us, start innovating, writing, designing, making stuff that we can sell for 6 billion pounds. Come on Private Sector do not give me excuses: Brexit and exports, no drivers, extra fuel and energy costs, covid.... I heard it all before!"
Apparently some big bills afecting the NHS have been passed today.

Enrosadira · 22/11/2021 23:26

I am lost for words. And then there is little me in my little semi inconsequential job bashing myself for all the ways I perhaps maybe possibly have not been professional enough that one time and I should have and could have done this or that and and and

This was my thought - what else is happening/being uncovered today that he’s trying to distract attention from?
Teacupsandtrainers · 22/11/2021 23:28

Barely functioning alcoholic is my guess. Maybe some other substances thrown in for good measure?

BoJoSecretGF · 22/11/2021 23:29

Yes @MushMonster, this speech was a smokescreen to stop people talking about the Care bill. Well, it worked as a distraction, didn’t it?
