AIBU to ask if Boris was having a manic episode in his peppa pig speech today?

Just that really

I have a loved one who has bipolar disorder and to me, this looked very much like a manic episode. If so, I hope he gets the help he needs.

I did like one of the comments from the CBI, after Starmer's speech

Well heeled business person:- "Well... that was MUCH better than the last one!"
Reporter "You mean Corbyn?"
Well heeled business person "No... the Prime Minister"

With the vote last night on social care, I can really see the tide coming in for Jonhnston. I suspect that they will let him "sort out" the poisonous chalice that is Brexit and the NI agreement, and then he is toast. Meanwhile, of course, the country (figuratively) burns whilst the Tories fiddle...

OhGiveUp · 23/11/2021 08:33

Apparently an aide gave him his papers in the wrong order, and of course, the bumbling buffoon never thought to check them beforehand.
He's got the organisation skills of a house brick.
Someone said he might be skint.....with a personal fortune of 2.9million ( and that's just what we know about, there will be more in offshore accounts, guaranteed ) plus his salary as PM, along with his free accommodation and all the rest of the perks, he could hardly be classed as skint!
As for holidays.....he has almost 3 months off for summer recess, plus his recent holiday in Mallorca, every weekend, bank holiday, Christmas and Easter off.....show me anyone else who gets that amount of annual leave!
The bloke is bad news, he took the role on an ego trip and now his wheels are starting to come off. Hell, he can't even think for himself!!!

Kikkomam · 23/11/2021 08:35

Nothing sinister, just badly prepared and shambolic.

Eleganz · 23/11/2021 08:41

No, he is just a lazy chancer who is hopelessly out of his depth, while his cabinet, backed by rich donors, push through laws that dismantle our NHS, impoverish the poorer elderly who need care, try and save their mates who get caught with the hand in the cookie jar, and so on.

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 23/11/2021 08:42

Well it conveniently kept all of today's newspapers off the real headline story, about voting to destroy the NHS last night. All people will notice or remember is Peppa Pig.’

I genuinely believe that even if he didn’t give that shithouse speech and the care bill was front page on all newspapers, by the time the election comes around, those same impoverished pensioners will be queuing up at the poll station to vote Tory based on some invented culture war bollocks.

His core demographic will not be satisfied until everyone is queuing up at the food bank and turning tricks to pay for healthcare. There’s literally no way of getting through to them. I’m beyond giving a shit at this point.

Voord · 23/11/2021 08:44

I’d go with hopelessly unprepared, hideously out of his depth, and entirely reliant on his bumbling comedy persona (which might hit the mark with some sections of the electorate but not with a room full of business leaders). The bloke is an absolute embarrassment, whatever your political persuasion.

userlotsanumbers · 23/11/2021 08:45

No, I think it was a distraction technique employed by him and his media cronies to keep the real issue, of the NHS bill, away from the news. He's a hustler, that was a hustle.

Idony · 23/11/2021 08:46

No, he was filling the newspapers to distract from the care bill.

Stop falling for him dangling silly shinies in front of your eyes.

A8mint · 23/11/2021 09:12

No no no. Boris is used to thinking and speaking on the hoof. This was a show

pcofmushu · 23/11/2021 09:15

I personally think it was a planned, pre-meditated and very clever debacle to distract from the Care Bill.

Boris likes to come across as a bumbling bafoon but the reality is that he is scarily clever and calculated (as are most in government!) - things are very rarely a "mistake"

Dragongirl10 · 23/11/2021 09:17

Totally and completely embarassing.

MarshaBradyo · 23/11/2021 09:18

Apparently an aide gave him his papers in the wrong order

That is crap and if you don’t pre read them harder to guess what was there

I was listening to radio and someone brought up May’s coughing speech - blast from past had forgotten about that

Whilst I generally agree with the sentiment - it's not the pensioner Tories I blame - there is some logic to their position. It's the working poor or out of work Tory voters - the aspirational ones that I find most terrifying. They seem to fear anyone who might help them. Post after post on here on a variety of subjects shows that there is a significant race to the bottom mentality in the UK.
shouldistop · 23/11/2021 09:23

@Cheerfulcharlie

I just thought he was a bit sleep deprived - he does have a toddler and isn't his second one due very soon?
Hahahaha I don't imagine bojo does any baby or toddler care
Peregrina · 23/11/2021 09:28

These are the ones who will be hit hardest by the Social Care bill. Is this Stockholm syndrome?

OhGiveUp · 23/11/2021 09:30

@MarshaBradyo That's all I read, I don't know if it's true or not.

SeaWitchly · 23/11/2021 09:32

I am so glad I never voted in this massive twonk. And what did those who did ever see in him.

Part of the issue is negativity and general view that people can’t think or are ‘thick’ And other issues which make it hard for left / Labour

Who would be better to lead Cons?

Not sure about Starmer he’s not delivering on policies for me I don’t care as much about being too dull etc

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 23/11/2021 09:36

Absolutely an attempt to distract us from the care bill. It seems to be working. Boris is no fool. Angry

SheikhMaraca · 23/11/2021 09:48

@stilldumdedumming

My politically sharp ds says that when he was talking about painting people on a box to make it look like a bus, that was to distract Google searches from the bus sign about money going to the nhs post brexit. Could this be something similar. He is not super clever but he is extremely canny.
He’s correct, Boris also said to the press at the same time that he made busses out of matchsticks to further divide search results.

He also made a speech about ‘kippers’ (as in the fish) to distract from his issues at the time with UKIP.

SusieBob · 23/11/2021 10:04

@Idony

No, he was filling the newspapers to distract from the care bill.

People keep coming up with this theory to explain Boris, that he is actually some kind of political genius who hides behind this persona of a clown.

Why, I have no idea. The man has proven time and time again both in and out of politics that he is an absolute baffoon with the brain capacity of a jellyfish that missed too many days of school.

Sometimes it's the most obvious answer: Johnson is just an idiot.

Ormally · 23/11/2021 10:13

He's thinking ahead - a nice voiceover cameo in the show for him after all this blows over. Probably a friend of Mr. Bull. Mr. de Pfeffel has a ring to it.

TooBigForMyBoots · 23/11/2021 10:20

He’s done Brexit and Covid which are both massive ( Brexit broke the two PM’s before him).

He hasn't done Brexit, it's nowhere near done yet.

Teacupsandtrainers · 23/11/2021 10:21

Honestly if I didn’t now need it to pay for my future care costs I’d bet my house that he never had covid and they were trying to dry him out for a bit way back when.
It maybe used to be an act but the guy is hardly a genius. He can be a convenient distraction and a complete and utter mess.

WouldBeGood · 23/11/2021 10:30

He was causing a distraction from his sleaze, corruption and the social care bill
