New man not reading messages

Have started seeing someone, early days but going swimmingly. He’s attentive and thoughtful, really seems to like me, had a few lovely dates and made further plans etc. However I sent him a couple of WhatsApp messages yesterday around 6pm and he was online all night and last seen on WhatsApp at around 2am and he hasn’t even bothered to read them (I can tell from the ticks they were successfully delivered but not read). AIBU to be pissed off? Or am I over-reacting (I’m good at that!).

He's giving you the slow fade op , I was once ghosted by someone I was in a full blown relationship with for 8 months! Go figure.
If this guy was into you he would've responded.

yabu I have changed the setting on my messenger to not show when read. plus what others say about reading messages on the screen and not the app.

I was going to say this. There is a setting on WhatsApp that means people don't see if you've read the message - the tick never goes blue.

Is there any update on this, OP. As someone who doesn’t love texting people I thinks he sounds not that into messaging more than not that into you. I’m early forties and don’t love it.
