Just seen the footage of a woman attacking a horse after a "drag hunt"
She is a primary school teacher and a member of the pony club.
Aibu to think she should lose her job over this?

I imagine she will.

SW1amp · 09/11/2021 16:39

How does it affect her ability to teach children?

IsolaPribby · 09/11/2021 16:39

She bloody well ought to Angry

FangsForTheMemory · 09/11/2021 16:39

I'm not clear about the link between being a primary school teacher and animal cruelty that you're making.

Berkeys · 09/11/2021 16:41

She really should! Violent people shouldn’t be around children or animals. Angry

JuneOsborne · 09/11/2021 16:42

Gosh, that's appalling. Poor, poor animal.

I'm on the fence about her job though. What we do in private, is just that, private. But, what's she's done is illegal and not very private is it? So actually, on balance perhaps I do agree with you.

I just feel so sorry for the animal.

icedcoffees · 09/11/2021 16:42

YANBU.

I wouldn't want someone who treats animals like that around my DC. It's disgusting behaviour.

girlmom21 · 09/11/2021 16:43

Maybe that we shouldn't trust cruel, violent abusers with our children?
thereisonlyoneofme · 09/11/2021 16:43

I dont think it is illegal

Twickerhun · 09/11/2021 16:44

Bringing the school into disrepute would be gross misconduct

GrabbyAbbie · 09/11/2021 16:44

I wouldn't want a person who could be aggressive to a vulnerable animal around my child, it's clear she has a nasty temper and was attacking the horse in front of young children.
It does not paint her character in a good light at all.

Because she clearly has boundary issues, temper control issues and has no problems hitting a horse in public. I wouldn't want her teaching my kids and the kids will know about it soon enough as it's in the news.

We are intelligent enough as humans in 2021 to understand that there is no correlation between physical abuse and better or improved behaviour.

Animals will only know they are being hurt in the moment and that will teach them to mistrust humans- not that they've done something to 'warrant' that. That poor horse. Sickening.

NameChangeADHD · 09/11/2021 16:44

Poor horse :(

Bagelsandbrie · 09/11/2021 16:45

Of course she should lose her job. Teachers are supposed to be kind, empathetic and caring. Anyone who treats an animal like that deserves to be punished harshly and lose their job.

bellinisurge · 09/11/2021 16:45

My daughter is a regular horse rider. Being firm with a horse is one thing. Being cruel - which this is - is another. Anyone who doesn't know how to be firm without being cruel has no place near an animal. And no place near anyone vulnerable including a child.

GrabbyAbbie · 09/11/2021 16:46

Section 9 of the Animal Welfare Act places a duty of care on people to ensure they take reasonable steps in all the circumstances to meet the welfare needs of their animals to the extent required by good practice.

Not only a teacher but also a director of a local pre-school apparently. I wouldn't consider a school that employed someone with such an uncontrollable temper.

LadyLothbrook · 09/11/2021 16:46

The way she bitch slaps the horse is out of uncontrollable temper, you can see it. She's livid and the horse barely did anything wrong, I would not want my child to be cared for by a person like that. What if a child irritates her and she doesn't physically harm them but does something else sinister? No thanks!..

nimbuscloud · 09/11/2021 16:48

She’s been sacked from the local pony club where she was a team leader.

PeachesPumpkin · 09/11/2021 16:48

Women filmed attacking her horse.

vajingleberry · 09/11/2021 16:48

There's a long thread in chat.

Horrible woman

Watchingyou2sleezes · 09/11/2021 16:49

Of course it's illegal.

The process s for her crimes should occur.

Not some witch-hunt by "Outraged" of mumsnet demanding she loses her job

BertramLacey · 09/11/2021 16:50

I think she should resign from the Pony Club since she should not be teaching young people anything about equestrianism. Whether or not she loses her job should be a question for her employers. Much as I abhor her actions, I don't like trial by social media. It's up to the school to deal with her and ask whether what she did affects her teaching. It is certainly affecting the school's reputation and they need to consider that as well.

As someone who has been around horses for 40 years, this sort of treatment is a lot more common than you would think. It is inexcusable and she needs to accept consequences. But I would hope the school would look at this in the round and at her reputation as a teacher. I would hope they would consider any contrition she might feel and then take her through their processes.

What she did is awful. Threatening someone's livelihood isn't great either and it needs to be up to her employer to decide.

This. ^ What a vile, abusive, aggressive woman.

Gotta love the 'how does this affect her ability to teach children' brigade! Hmm

No comments about the appalling behaviour towards this lovely horse.

Speaks volumes about those posters.

I hope the woman is sacked from her job. As you say, who wants their children being around a vile woman like that?
