Just seen the footage of a woman attacking a horse after a "drag hunt"
She is a primary school teacher and a member of the pony club.
Aibu to think she should lose her job over this?

Absolutely. I'm fairly sure her teaching status will have to be reviewed and a new DBs requested

Hobbesmanc · 09/11/2021 16:51

If she gets prosecuted for animal cruelty then I imagine that her employment would be in jeopardy. Its hard to always judge from a phone video- but it looked pretty brutal to me and I wouldn't like her teaching my kids

Pumperthepumper · 09/11/2021 16:51

She definitely should lose her job if she can’t control her temper.

Winniemarysarah · 09/11/2021 16:52

@SW1amp

How does it affect her ability to teach children?
Because a violent, nasty animal abuser shouldn’t be teaching children? Because she doesn’t understand simple discipline/psychology seeing as she beat her horse after it got loose and tried to run away from her. This now means that this thick as shit excuse for a human being has just trained her horse into thinking being caught by its human = being slapped repeatedly across the face and kicked, so it’s not going to come back next time. I don’t understand why this is hard to comprehend.
LittleDandelionClock · 09/11/2021 16:53

@LadyLothbrook

The way she bitch slaps the horse is out of uncontrollable temper, you can see it. She's livid and the horse barely did anything wrong, I would not want my child to be cared for by a person like that. What if a child irritates her and she doesn't physically harm them but does something else sinister? No thanks!..
Exactly!
LittleDandelionClock · 09/11/2021 16:54

@Winniemarysarah

Amen to that!

@thereisonlyoneofme

I dont think it is illegal
Animal cruelty is absolutely a crime!
Winniemarysarah · 09/11/2021 16:54

@thereisonlyoneofme

I dont think it is illegal
I assure you it certainly is illegal! And she is currently being investigated by the rspca with the intention of a prosecution for animal cruelty.
0palescent · 09/11/2021 16:55

YANBU. She is violent, and obviously has a short temper. She isn't suitable to teach children.

RubyFakeLips · 09/11/2021 16:55

Don’t specifically think she should lose her job. However, she should be prosecuted, and if she loses her job as a consequence of prosecution, tough shit.

TooBigForMyBoots · 09/11/2021 16:58

Animal abuse and child abuse are linked. www.manchestersafeguardingpartnership.co.uk/resource/animal-abuse-link-family-violence-advice-practitioners/

maddy68 · 09/11/2021 16:58

How she treated her horse was shocking.

Her job has nothing to do with it

Winniemarysarah · 09/11/2021 17:06

@maddy68

Her job has everything to do with it. Abusive acts against the vulnerable, whether it’s a human or an animal, can prevent her from getting employment taking care of the vulnerable in future. If I saw her beating her horse like that in the street I’d be phoning the police, I wouldn’t be sending my primary school children in for her to look after. If she does get prosecuted for this I doubt very much she’ll keep her job.

A headteacher near me lost her job after being charged with animal cruelty
here

It absolutely does.

Teachers should not have criminal records.

Lots of people would lose their jobs if they got prosecuted in court for animal abuse.

SirGawain · 09/11/2021 17:17

It's a dreadful thing to do and of course she should feel the weight of the law but it hardly warrants losing her job

maddy68 · 09/11/2021 17:18

Actually that's not strictly true.
If anything shows up on their criminal record it's for the head to decide if they are a risk to children ,(exception being if course anything that endangers children )

I know several teachers with convinctions. 2 for Drink driving and ...a 1 for a prosecution for walking a dog on a beach while prohibited to do so

IggysPop · 09/11/2021 17:20

Part Two of the Teachers’ Standards, possibly.

Thataintright · 09/11/2021 17:21

She'll be fine. I doubt that cruelty to animals is a non-negotiable.

That poor dog 😢
RatherBeRiding · 09/11/2021 17:22

As she has been publically named and shamed this will reflect badly on her employer - conduct bringing the school into disrepute by continuing to employ an animal abuser.

i am delighted she has been sacked by the Pony Club and if the school has any sense it will sack her too. Absolutely vile behaviour.

Thataintright · 09/11/2021 17:22

Disgusting behaviour, though.

Pascal80 · 09/11/2021 17:22

Evil bitch.
However, she is into blood sports (drag-hunting - yeah right) so it should not be surprising that she is cruel to animals. Imagine letting this psychopath near infant children though. No empathy, a filthy temper and deeply cruel.

Walkingthedog46 · 09/11/2021 17:23

She should certainly lose her job since she clearly can’t control her temper. I wouldn’t want someone who is cruel to animals around my child. I dread to think what she might do the animal in private if she thinks nothing of that public display of violence.
