Just seen the footage of a woman attacking a horse after a "drag hunt"
She is a primary school teacher and a member of the pony club.
Aibu to think she should lose her job over this?

I found it sickening and very upsetting to watch.

Is this really accepted behaviour in the “horse world” ?

If so, I’m shocked.

hangrylady · 09/11/2021 17:24

@SW1amp

How does it affect her ability to teach children?
She's a piece of shit who has no business being around children. Would you want someone like this around your kids?
Fluffycloudland77 · 09/11/2021 17:25

Horsy people are reputed to be cruel in a way dog owners or cat owners aren’t and this is why.

Dhs ex used to keep horses and he said this is standard practice. Someone taught her this is how you deal with horses. No one around her seemed surprised did they?

I was more surprised she’s only 37 and looks 47.

jiggeryjaggerywoo · 09/11/2021 17:25

It won't be automatic but I imagine she is likely to lose her job and if she does I don't have any sympathy for her at all.

SerendipityJane · 09/11/2021 17:26

Not sure why this is even noteworthy. People who hunt foxes are cunts - weather to follow.

Because she's obviously a violent cruel person.

Benjispruce5 · 09/11/2021 17:28

I saw that video yesterday and it absolutely sickened me. I hope she charged .

Benjispruce5 · 09/11/2021 17:28

Is charged.

Rash generalisation there ! I've had horses on a livery yard for most of my life. I have never seen cruelty to horses. I have seen cruelty to dogs!
icedcoffees · 09/11/2021 17:29

@SirGawain

It's a dreadful thing to do and of course she should feel the weight of the law but it hardly warrants losing her job
Why not, though?

You can't go around abusing animals and expect not to face any consequences.

Wife2b · 09/11/2021 17:29

Ffs people who can’t see the link between that and her teaching children. When working with perpetrators of domestic violence, once of the high risk indicators is cruelty to animals. How is this any different? It’s the lack of compassion that’s sickening. Who would want a person like that teaching their kids?

Are you for real!! You would be happy at an animal abuser looking after your kids. I assume you find this sort of behaviour acceptable. Please tell me you're not a mother.
Benjispruce5 · 09/11/2021 17:34

If it’s a criminal offence it will affect her job anyway as there are criminal record checks on all school staff.

RunningFromInsanity · 09/11/2021 17:35

There is a strong link between animal cruelty and child cruelty.
Several child/serial killers such as Ian Brady, Robert Thompson, Jon Venebles, Fred West are all noted to have tortured and killed animals before their human victims.

I’m not saying she’s a future serial killer but there’s definitely something wrong in the mind of someone that hurts animals.

Cranberryclementine · 09/11/2021 17:36

She was already abusing animals.

Going hunting is a blood sport. Clue is in the name.

KittenCatcher · 09/11/2021 17:36

Its reported she has been suspended and gone into hiding because she is scared, if she has one decent bone in her body she will resign immediately and face the consequences.

user367778853 · 09/11/2021 17:36

This is absolutely not okay but where is the outrage of animals being stunned and slaughtered, we need that too

She should face the consequences in law.

She should not have to go into hiding because of a mob.

Floralnomad · 09/11/2021 17:39

I’ve owned horses for over 40 yrs and this type of behaviour is definitely not the norm IME . That said I’m anti hunt and also don’t sell any animal we buy , to us our horses and ponies are pets to be cherished for life just like our dogs and other household pets .

Absolutely. Fuck them. Hope her life is in absolute tatters. Ghouls.
AliceMcK · 09/11/2021 17:41

Of course it should effect her position as a teacher. What if a child she teaches see this, they would think if it’s ok their teacher dose this then it’s ok for them to. Also, there is a child stood next to her in this, she obviously dosnt care what she’s teaching that child.

AutistAwayWithUrConditionalLuv · 09/11/2021 17:42

Wow. 😳

I'm not sure she'll be able to manage her anger with children too. It will only take one wrong move.

WeAllHaveWings · 09/11/2021 17:44

She should be punished for the crime committed.

If it is in her job contract that a criminal conviction is gross misconduct she should lose her job.

Where do you stop when extending punishments beyond the criminal conviction? Should her driving license be revoked too because she has a temper and could take it out on someone when driving?

A choice foxes don't get - although they are presumably scared too ?

I don't think driving is comparable to teaching primary school children, to be honest.

Would you want someone who thinks it's acceptable to kick and punch animals to have the influence on your DC that a primary teacher does?
