Teacher filmed attacking her horse

GrabbyAbbie · 09/11/2021 16:37

Just seen the footage of a woman attacking a horse after a "drag hunt"
She is a primary school teacher and a member of the pony club.
Aibu to think she should lose her job over this?

@Berkeys

She really should! Violent people shouldn’t be around children or animals. Angry
Yes! If she was my child’s teacher, I’d move schools.
LowlandLucky · 09/11/2021 18:33

PWYP76: If your child was ill and the only treatment available to save them had animal extract in it would your refuse the treatment ?

CherryBlossomAutumn · 09/11/2021 18:33

I think any violence is a safeguarding concern and that person should lose any privileged role of working with children.

I would not want anyone near my children who had violence and in this case it is especially concerning as it is an attack by someone more powerful, a person. This would concern me more than someone convicted of violence who was in a fight once where it wasn’t clear they had provoked it for example.

There is also evidence that cruelty towards animals is linked to cruelty in other areas of life. It’s a safeguarding concern pure and simple.

Perhaps if they went to ‘rehab’ type anti violence sessions or whatever then in a certain amount of years of probation they could be let register again as a teacher. That’s my view anyway.

Perhaps I’m more sensitive as my child has high SEN and this would worry me a lot if it was his teacher.

Viviennemary · 09/11/2021 18:34

On the video I saw a vicious thug kicking and punching an animal.

@RustyBear

From the school's website: Statement on behalf of the Mowbray Education Trust: We can confirm that a member of staff has been suspended pending formal investigations into an incident that occurred at the weekend. We will not be making any further comments while the investigation is in progress.
I read this too; The Daily Fail is also reporting that she has “gone into hiding following death threats”.
GatoradeMeBitch · 09/11/2021 18:37

She's going to lose all credibility over her class. Imagine her calling someone's parents and telling them that little Timmy kicked his classmate. They'll be tempted to ask if she recommends he hold the classmates so they can't move and throw in a few slaps too.

She's very obviously not a good role model. And she also looks to have a bad temper and poor impulse control.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 09/11/2021 18:37

@FangsForTheMemory

I'm not clear about the link between being a primary school teacher and animal cruelty that you're making.
Presumably she will be arrested and convicted which will certainly preclude her from teaching. As it should.
I8toys · 09/11/2021 18:38

Its the total lack of control and extreme violence. Who knows when it will happen again? This time it was with a defenceless animal.

Marygoround22 · 09/11/2021 18:38

Absolute scum and no, I wouldn't want her around children. She obviously has a violent temper and sees no wrong in attacking those defenceless against her Angry

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 09/11/2021 18:39

@thereisonlyoneofme

I dont think it is illegal
Animal cruelty is illegal!
RubyTuesday70 · 09/11/2021 18:40

I couldn't really watch that video, it's so distressing.

I grew up on a stud farm and horses are the gentlest most trusting animals.

I hope she's banned from keeping animals for a very long time.

Mumoblue · 09/11/2021 18:40

I don’t think people who lash out physically when angry should be teachers, no.

ABCDEF1234 · 09/11/2021 18:41

I would be very surprised if she didn't end up jobless and disowned by the pony club branch she was part of

StoneofDestiny · 09/11/2021 18:43

She is a Huntswoman, part of a Hunt. Cruelty to animals is second nature.
Of course she will lose her job.

treguffin · 09/11/2021 18:44

@ABCDEF1234

She's been dropped by the main pony club organisation and they've strongly condemned her actions.

Crikey, they will have been horrified at the publicity. Even if its hunt central around there, the hunt itself won't want such bad publicity - she's on her own I suspect.

That hunt : the Cottesmore hunt is known for cruel practices in hunting. The hunting world is known for cruelty in their hunts. Laying trails and pretending to not hunt foxes and then do. Other pets are often killed by the hunt dogs. The hunt dogs get lost, run over by cars and trains. When they are of no more use : they are shot. There are some amazing people who follow the hunts : hunt saboteurs and they document these abuses in their free time. Sadly, when they point out abuses to the police , it is often ignored. In fact the police often harass the saboteurs. The connections of the police ( our tax dollars ) to the hunts are well documented. It is time for these hunts to end.
Bettysnow · 09/11/2021 18:44

Disgusting, cowardly woman to do that to an innocent animal. Its clear shes a nasty piece of work and should not be near children or anyone vulnerable with a temper like that! Vile

treguffin · 09/11/2021 18:44

@StoneofDestiny

She won't lose her job for being part of a hunt, let's just get that straight.
CloseYourEyesAndSee · 09/11/2021 18:46

If she's a mother, or if she were a mother, should her children be removed from her too or is it just teachers' children?

Who is talking about having her children removed from her?

treguffin · 09/11/2021 18:46

I do find it interesting thst the men filmed kicking and beating a pig to death in an abbatoir a few months ago weren't named and shamed. They must have been quite easy to identify as well.

Shimy · 09/11/2021 18:48

@Twickerhun

Bringing the school into disrepute would be gross misconduct
Abusing the horse was horrible and cruel and should be investigated further but how is she 'bringing the school into disrepute'? it's got absolutely nothing to do with the school.
OhWhyNot · 09/11/2021 18:49

Actions have consequences

Thankfully she was filmed this won’t be the first time she has down this

Would we think well it has nothing to do with their job if she were a nurse or police women. Of course it does it shows her character that she has a cruel streak. We have all known cruel teaches they may not be violent but they are nasty in other ways

Littleroundsponge · 09/11/2021 18:51

@SW1amp

How does it affect her ability to teach children?
Because she is a vile abusive piece of shit who shouldn't be near anybody vulnerable which includes children!
JuneOsborne · 09/11/2021 18:55

@PWYP76

Hmm, so, you're all tucking into your steak while, simultaneously, being 'outraged' at someone caught being cruel to an animal..

While she's a monster, some of you get other monsters to do your work for you, so that you can have your steak on a plate!

And you can argue until the cows (or horses) come home. And you'll start getting angry and denying and minimising and attacking, but you still know.

It's embarrassing.

I am a vegetarian and have been since I was 6 years old.

I'm appalled by this and have commented twice.

You don't do us veggies/vegans any favours with this shit. This is why people feel like they can point their meaty forks in my face and ask how I could give this juicy delicious stuff up and go on and on and on at me over what was a perfectly lovely meal.

Yes, it'd be better if fewer people ate meat, or if people ate fewer animals, but honestly, don't tar all of us quiet, get-on-with it veggies with your angry ranting. And you won't persuade anyone to give up meat going in like this.

BertramLacey · 09/11/2021 18:55

how is she 'bringing the school into disrepute'? it's got absolutely nothing to do with the school.

Because there is a social media storm over it and the school has been identified. Whilst we might want to keep our personal and professional lives separate, if you act like this in public you run the risk that the two will collide. Her actions will have consequences and the school is investigating what happened.
