Teacher filmed attacking her horse

GrabbyAbbie · 09/11/2021 16:37

Just seen the footage of a woman attacking a horse after a "drag hunt"
She is a primary school teacher and a member of the pony club.
Aibu to think she should lose her job over this?

Lose her job? Her life is over as it is. She should pay the fine and be banned from owning horses but as for the rest, it’s a witch hunt, isn’t it. She will resign, no-one will want her near their kids for a while.

User527294627 · 09/11/2021 18:11

Would PPs defending her seriously be ok with someone who can't control their temper and is abusive to a voiceless animal in charge of their children? I wouldn't.

The way people treat animals is a very clear indication of their character, and character is important when you're a teacher. I wouldn't consider someone who abuses animals to have a sufficiently moral character to teach my child.

JudgeJ · 09/11/2021 18:11

@IsolaPribby

She bloody well ought to Angry
If she's a mother, or if she were a mother, should her children be removed from her too or is it just teachers' children? I would be very interested to see more of that video rather than the edited highlights.

@PWYP76

Hmm, so, you're all tucking into your steak while, simultaneously, being 'outraged' at someone caught being cruel to an animal..

While she's a monster, some of you get other monsters to do your work for you, so that you can have your steak on a plate!

And you can argue until the cows (or horses) come home. And you'll start getting angry and denying and minimising and attacking, but you still know.

It's embarrassing.

So because people eat cows we should also allow people to hit horses/drown puppies/microwave cats.

It’s all or nothing in your eyes is it?

stereeotype · 09/11/2021 18:13

@LeicesterIntheMorning

She should lose her job Get a prison sentence Plus a fine And ban from owning animals, ever

Evil evil person. What a sickening act to commit against an animal.

Didn't some policeman lose his job over donating 10p at a charity cake sale for a pack of jaffa cakes instead of a few pounds?????

Prison? Come on! That's a bit ridiculous
Underthestairsbears · 09/11/2021 18:14

Absolutely abhorrent. She didn't just attack a horse... she is part of an organisation which terrorises, tortures and murders animals. I wouldn't have her teaching my children. I will never understand how someone like this can work with children.

Ohhhh the hypocrisy arguments are so lazy and boring.

Like I said, you know exactly what my statement meant. I am not a hypocrite. And I'm certainly not spending all night arguing with someone who pretended not to hear.

You know...

TheCreamCaker · 09/11/2021 18:16

What a horrible person that woman is. Slapping her horse around his face and kicking him. Bastard. I wouldn't want her teaching MY grandchildren, telling them how we should be kind etc, whilst showing this nasty side to her.

KisstheTeapot14 · 09/11/2021 18:16

@bellinisurge

My daughter is a regular horse rider. Being firm with a horse is one thing. Being cruel - which this is - is another. Anyone who doesn't know how to be firm without being cruel has no place near an animal. And no place near anyone vulnerable including a child.
This^ Totally.
Shehasadiamondinthesky · 09/11/2021 18:17

I wouldn't want anyone who is violent towards animals anywhere near a defenceless child.

Zedni1 · 09/11/2021 18:17

@FangsForTheMemory

I'm not clear about the link between being a primary school teacher and animal cruelty that you're making.
Well if she can hurt animals how do parents know if someone like this is hurting their children ? I wouldn’t want someone capable of that near my children.
PWYP76 · 09/11/2021 18:17

I will sit back and let you all implode/explode.

Have a great night 😊

Hunting - The Unspeakable in pursuit of the Uneatable.

I had some involvement with a woman who rode/judged at the highest level in Dressage. I once was unfortnate enought to wtiness her dragging a close to 18hh young Warmblood (training for Grand Prix), "worth quarter of a million pounds", around nastily and shouting at and thrashing him because he didn't walk into his stable the way she wanted.

I also had some dealings with a horse - at Ag9ircultural College - who had obviously been beaten or in some way made to be nervous aroound her head; her bridle needed to be dismanted to be put on, and she needed to be allowed to walk into the stable quietly ahead of you. Still so very lovely and actually gave me such confidence, even though she was known to put a dirty stop in. But I don't really think that being in a College environment was best for her.

I hope this dreadful woman gets her comeuppance, I really do.

FlibbertyGiblets · 09/11/2021 18:19

She is saying why complain about animal cruelty (beating a horse) whilst drinking milk, (cows have their calves taken away) or eating something that once had a face. That's all.

workshy44 · 09/11/2021 18:19

It was obviously appalling but she is going to lose everything over this, perhaps it was a once off loss of control, who knows
She will lose her job, just been suspended and she has been kicked out of the pony club which was presumably her social life
She will be a complete pariah - can't help but feel pity for her

From the school's website:
Statement on behalf of the Mowbray Education Trust: We can confirm that a member of staff has been suspended pending formal investigations into an incident that occurred at the weekend. We will not be making any further comments while the investigation is in progress.

Mythroatisstillsore · 09/11/2021 18:25

perhaps it was a once off loss of control, who knows

She kicks and hits the horse, do you really think she went from being a lovely, passive, kind horse owner who just suddenly flipped on this particular occasion? The fact that no-one reacts around her suggests that it was a normal way for her to behave. Don't like the witch hunt element to all this though I agree.

CompensationStreet · 09/11/2021 18:27

It looked awful and if she can treat an animal like that, I wouldn’t want her around kids. Of course if she’s charged with cruelty to an animal, that might become academic anyway.

Crikey, they will have been horrified at the publicity. Even if its hunt central around there, the hunt itself won't want such bad publicity - she's on her own I suspect.

I don't eat meat. I believe it's cruel and unnecessary.

This is the problem. Her credibility amongst the children, parents and colleagues is gone. She'll likely resign.
LakieLady · 09/11/2021 18:29

She probably won't lose her job and the Cottesmore hunt will wait for this to die down and go back to doing what it's always done

I daresay you're right @Wagsandclaws, but it's bad timing coming so quickly on the back of this successful prosecution

www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-58654916

Hunts are having a bad couple of weeks imo. And I'm fucking delighted.
