Just that really.
We’re being harassed and being subjected to awful tantrums and rudeness because DP has said no, it’s not happening.

No. Anything on face I'd say 16

dozyjosie42 · 07/11/2021 14:10

Absolutely not. Would have to be 16 for facial piercings for me. Also what is the school policy?

Pumpkinsonparade · 07/11/2021 14:10

I have refused dd 16.
Her choice when she doesn't live at home...

HelloDulling · 07/11/2021 14:10

No. Absolutely not.

SpongebobNoPants · 07/11/2021 14:10

@Hankunamatata that’s exactly what was said.
When she’s 16 she can do as she pleases piercings wise.

ShowOfHands · 07/11/2021 14:11

DD is 14 and I'd allow it but her school would not.

JMKid · 07/11/2021 14:11

Not a chance. She is only 12!

MoomaidAhoy · 07/11/2021 14:11

No

Bigfathairyones · 07/11/2021 14:11

No way. At 12 she's well and truly a child and frankly, tough if she doesn't like it.

icedcoffees · 07/11/2021 14:12

No, I think that's too young for facial piercings.

Plus most schools won't allow it anyway.

MrzClaus · 07/11/2021 14:12

Definitely not at 12! I'm assuming school wouldn't be too enthused?

You can get super realistic fake ones online - that might help the urge for a while?

Sidneysussex · 07/11/2021 14:12

Absolutely not. The tantrums alone would confirm my view.
I doubt school would approve either.

SpongebobNoPants · 07/11/2021 14:12

@dozyjosie42 I don’t think school are too fussed to be honest as long as it’s not a big hoop.
The school are quite relaxed about acrylic nails, make up, tans, hair colouring etc too. Not very strict on uniforms either so I don’t think that would be an issue to be honest.

The “no” was given due to personal preference because of her age.

OP posts:
FreshFancyFrogglette · 07/11/2021 14:12

I would say yes, as long as school were OK with it.
My dd is pain phobic, so avoids piercings like the plague, but I had mine done at 15, and don't regret it.

can't think of a logical reason to deny them it, if it's something that they really want, and school is OK with it.

Carlissa · 07/11/2021 14:12

No,.o wouldn't let her at that age.

My mum refused, saying 'not under my roof'

As soon as I went to uni, bam I got it done.

Took it out two weeks later as I didn't like it.

No trace left now!

ToastCrumbsOnAPlate · 07/11/2021 14:12

No. My daughter has been asking for years and I've always said that 15 is appropriate and that I will find a place with a good reputation and take her on or after that birthday.

cowburp · 07/11/2021 14:13

No, and I'd double down on the no if there was rudeness and tantrums

VestaTilley · 07/11/2021 14:13

Absolutely not.

The school would almost certainly demand DD removed it each day anyway, so it would be certain to close up.

SirChenjins · 07/11/2021 14:13

Nope - absolutely not.

The tantrums and rudeness would be dealt with separately.

Squiblet · 07/11/2021 14:14

Yes, why not? If it's what she wants. It won't hurt anyone else. And if she doesn't like it, she can take it out and it will heal over.

GoodnightGrandma · 07/11/2021 14:14

No.
However, if there’s a chance she will go somewhere dodgy and get it done, I’d rather allow it and organise it myself.

Carlissa · 07/11/2021 14:14

I used to wear fake rings and stick-ons when I was younger so that may be an option? Nice stocking filler!!

SpongebobNoPants · 07/11/2021 14:14

@MrzClaus I don’t think her dad would even like her wearing a fake one to be honest. It’s the “image” he really isn’t keen on (and neither am I).
She is 12 but looks considerably younger… people often think she’s 9/10 years old.

It’s a constant battle because she’s been able to dress and act much older than her years and it’s been something I really struggle with but don’t bring up. The nose piercing debacle is just the latest battle.

BasiliskStare · 07/11/2021 14:15

I am elderly & I had to wait for 16 to have my ears pierced ( parents and school rules. )

TimOTey · 07/11/2021 14:15

No.
