AIBU that world leaders can come together to discuss plastic as it kills dolphins but a 9 year old girl married to a 55 year old man goes unchallenged!

The title says it all.

Yes it's in the fail and in my rage I cannot work out how to copy the link.

Please tell me I'm wrong and missread the story?

@Bonsaibreaker can we please be best friends? No. One. Gives. A. Sh. To what happens to girls and women.
@Awwlookatmybabyspider I will witness, testify and join your oath. Western middle class Women don’t give a shit about poorer women.

Lockheart · 02/11/2021 23:24

@Awwlookatmybabyspider

I can't believe how much youve been ripped apart on here. I'm going to say this whether posters are pleased or vexed. If I had to swear under the Oath on the Holy Book I'd have to say "Very few posters seem to be going OTT with the anger about a 55 year old man married to a little girl"
Because it's a ridiculous and infantile conflation of two important issues, one of which the OP is trying to dismiss with flippant comments about dolphins and sea lions.

Climate change is important. The situation in Afghanistan is important. The fact that there is a conference for one does not detract from the other.

OneFootintheRave · 02/11/2021 23:25

@Bonsaibreaker

Different issues need to be discussed at different times, otherwise it just all becomes redundant.

Sorry did I miss the world summit for girls being raped and murdered?
What day was it when all the world leaders came to 1 country to discuss the 66,000 females killed globally?

I'm with you OP. You are NOT coming across as a "raving loon" at all.
MrsSkylerWhite · 02/11/2021 23:25

Truths

This is the REAL issue.

The government pushing an EXPERIMENTAL vaccine on to the children! “

When did all the world leaders get together to discuss the effects of domestic violence? Or child poverty? Or lots of things. When you pit two important issues against each other neither one wins.
Bonsaibreaker · 02/11/2021 23:29

Because it's a ridiculous and infantile conflation of two important issues, one of which the OP is trying to dismiss with flippant comments about dolphins and sea lions.

There is nothing infantile about my posts.
The fact is world leaders have flown jets across the world to fight climate change yet fail to address the 66,000 women and girls killed globally every year.
They could address that from their in office.
Fight climate change that'd great its all about the next generation. How about fighting for those who produce the next generation?

I disagree. When you put two issues next to each other, you see which one matters. Lots of celebrities saving dolphins ( note : dolphins are mean AF), not so many exposing children brides. Lots of my “friends” driving (lol) to a climate change walk, all of them supporting men in women’s rape crisis centers.

Skinnymimi · 02/11/2021 23:33

@Bonsaibreaker your last post x10000! Couldn’t they have a zoom meating?

user1495885821 · 02/11/2021 23:33

The father sold his daughter because they couldn't afford food. Climate change is going to cause a great deal more food poverty. That's a whole lot more little girls at risk of being prostituted if we let extreme weather rage out of control.

ParrotsAteThemAll · 02/11/2021 23:33

Please educate yourself on climate change then perhaps you’ll be taken more seriously here.

There is everything infantile about your posts if you can't grasp the fact that spending a few days at a conference for one matter does not mean it's the only matter any of these politicians and leaders ever address.

There is no conference for the misery caused by the international drugs trade, or slavery and human trafficking, or the suffering in North Korea, or a whole host of other issues.

Do you really believe they're being ignored too?

Campfirewood · 02/11/2021 23:35

This is just heartbreaking. That poor girl. Horrific

Suspiciousmind20 · 02/11/2021 23:35

The two issues are incomparable. Abuse of children is shocking, abhorrent, and absolutely nobody could disagree that it should be tackled, however, if we don’t tackle climate change we are heading for extinction as a species. It’s not just ‘saving dolphins from plastic’. It’s going to be catastrophic. So if we don’t act, every man, woman and child will be at risk. Abuse will be eliminated because human beings will be eliminated. I think it’s right that what happened to this little girl has given you rage. It should make us all rage. However, that doesn’t mean it’s wrong to focus on climate change and the risk of extinction which is now an immediate threat and an emergency.

Kanaloa · 02/11/2021 23:35

Why do you keep minimising it by saying ‘saving dolphins?’ As if it’s about people childishly loving dolphins. Climate change is real and dangerous. It’s an important issue.

So is child exploitation and csa. But there’s no point saying one is important at the other isn’t.

Skinnymimi · 02/11/2021 23:36

@user1495885821says he! Convenient to cry on camera. I don’t believe his tears. I believe in this little girl’s tortures to come. I also don’t believe in climate change.

Skinnymimi · 02/11/2021 23:36

Yes, I think women’s right are MORE IMPORTANT than climate change.

Skinnymimi · 02/11/2021 23:37

Like… a lot more important

MrsSkylerWhite · 02/11/2021 23:38

Skinnymimi

I also don’t believe in climate change.”

In which case you are an idiot.

Skinnymimi · 02/11/2021 23:39

@MrsSkylerWhite So people who think like you are idiots?

Bonsaibreaker · 02/11/2021 23:40

That's a whole lot more little girls at risk of being prostituted if we let extreme weather rage out of control.

Here's a thought. Maybe we make selling little girls for food/sex/laughs a fucking crime regardless of the weather. Like I dont know selling little girls for sex is a no no?
Not oh well climate change is hard it means girls get sold for sex...let's ban straws in pubs....that will solve it!

You do realise that we have no power to make the laws in Afghanistan? And that whether pubs have plastic or paper straws does not change that?
Bonsaibreaker · 02/11/2021 23:42

Climate change is real and dangerous. It’s an important issue.

I never said it wasn't.
However 66,000 women and girls killed every year..
So where was the last "female lives matter" summet all world leaders attended?
