Are my vintage tapestry shoes that bad?

I was in the charity shop today and found these I absolutely love them think they are super cute. I know some might find them awful but are they that bad?

They are vintage St Micheals (is that marks and Spencer) and made in England. Haven't got a clue how old they are but they are unworn and we're a bargain.

HazelandChacha · 29/10/2021 18:16

I can’t see a picture??

PumpkinCrumble · 29/10/2021 18:17

Are they not slippers?

LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer · 29/10/2021 18:17

Has that worked it shows for me.

I think they're lovely

Northernlurker · 29/10/2021 18:17

Those are slippers.
From the eighties I would guess.

Glad they were a bargain. By which I presume you mean they paid you to remove Them?

HazelandChacha · 29/10/2021 18:18

Oh no, sorry.
Neither of my DGM would even wear those!

GoodnightGrandma · 29/10/2021 18:18

They look like slippers to me, but if you like them then who cares !

LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer · 29/10/2021 18:18

The inside are like slippers but they have a small 1 inch type heel.

OP posts:
ODFOgrinch · 29/10/2021 18:18

I think they are lovely but do they have a velvet lining? If so they're probably house slippers.

Northernlurker · 29/10/2021 18:18

Not to rock your world but some slippers have heels.

Those are not shoes.

WingBingo · 29/10/2021 18:19

They have a small heel but the lining makes them look like slippers to me.

Aquamarine1029 · 29/10/2021 18:19

Those are slippers, albeit fancy house slippers. You can tell by the lining.

Unmute · 29/10/2021 18:19

Definitely (ugly) slippers

ShinyMe · 29/10/2021 18:20

As my mother used to say when I proudly brought home new clothes as a teenager, if YOU like them, that's the only thing that matters.

Who cares what anyone else thinks OP? If they bring you happiness, then wear them as much as you possibly can.

PegasusReturns · 29/10/2021 18:20

They’re “house shoes” or slippers.

Quite obviously so I think, so I wouldn’t be wearing them out.

Dogscanteatonions · 29/10/2021 18:22

Most definitely slippers. My auntie had the exact ones. You can tell they are. I think they're hideous sorry

Wilkolampshade · 29/10/2021 18:22

Slippers.

AnyFucker · 29/10/2021 18:22

I hope you didn’t pay much for those slippers Smile

DemocracyofHypocrisy · 29/10/2021 18:22

Thesearmsofmine · 29/10/2021 18:22

From the style of them they look like fancy slippers. I have a lovely pair of tapestry shoes but mine are heeled and definitely shoes.

They're definitely slippers. My Grandma always wore St Michael slippers, always with a little heel (they're supportive for arthritic feet).

Northofsomewhere · 29/10/2021 18:22

I don't think I would buy them (not my style) but buying like that is better for the environment and they'll likely last longer than something bought new for a similar price.

I'm crafty and have started making some of my own clothes this year for multiple reasons. Mainly to get the fit I want but the quality Vs the cost is much higher if I do it myself so the clothes last longer and has less impact environmentally.

Not sure if any of those reason are why you bought these too but I guess if you're regularly looking in charity shops then you either care about the environment or cost (everyone loves a bargain). I once got a pure wool jumper in a charity shop for around £5, it was a lovely cream cabled design so pretty classic and wearable anytime.
