Are my vintage tapestry shoes that bad?

I was in the charity shop today and found these I absolutely love them think they are super cute. I know some might find them awful but are they that bad?

They are vintage St Micheals (is that marks and Spencer) and made in England. Haven't got a clue how old they are but they are unworn and we're a bargain.

I love 'em. They're not what I'd wear but I really like the shape of them a lot. I'd say they're very flattering on the foot (ballet pumps can be quite unforgiving if you've got veiny old feet like mine. So they're a but hi-cut, which is always nicer). They're really cute- and I'm a former 80s/90s/00s model who did all the catwalks, so I like to think that I know what I know. Grin
And St. Michael's... for that reason alone, they're- to use my native Californian terminology- 'rad'.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 29/10/2021 18:33

It's a no from me.

HikingforScenery · 29/10/2021 18:33

@Northernlurker

Those are slippers. From the eighties I would guess.

Glad they were a bargain. By which I presume you mean they paid you to remove Them?

Grin

Ouch!

TheVanguardSix · 29/10/2021 18:34

Oh wait a minute... I just saw the side shot... they're not so hi-cut... and that heel's a little, well, let's just say they're a bit less 'rad' now. But no, they're alright actually. OP, you wear them with love and pride. Smile

gunnersgold · 29/10/2021 18:34

Deffo slippers!

ZealAndArdour · 29/10/2021 18:36

The vamp is too high, if it was much lower and showed a bit of toe cleavage they could be quite cute.

LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer · 29/10/2021 18:36

At least they will be comfy I suppose Grin Halloween Blush

Ewwwwww 🙈

Bontanics · 29/10/2021 18:40

My auntie Joyce used to have those slippers. She had a matching sewing box that matched them too.

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 29/10/2021 18:40

They're perfectly nice.
I've got a handbag in that same pattern.

Plotato · 29/10/2021 18:40

Is there a label which starts with a T number? Someone who works at M&S will be able to tell you which department they are and as such whether they're slippers or shoes. I believe footwear is T02 (so will have a code under the bar code like T02/4579) but have forgotten which department slippers come under. I have used this to prove my husband's ancient towel is in fact a beach towel from the holiday section and not a regular bathroom towel.

Yes Star

TicTac80 · 29/10/2021 18:43

Not my taste (the colour) but if they're comfy and you like them, then why the hell not?! Always nice spotting something you like in the charity shops :D

Dutchesss · 29/10/2021 18:44

With a white linen outfit I think these could be pulled off quite nicely, even if they are meant to be slippers. I like an unusual piece of clothing coupled with something simple.

PissyMum · 29/10/2021 18:44

My 94 year old grandma has that exact pair which she wears when she goes ‘out’. Out meaning the downstairs lounge at the residential home to play bingo with all the other old ladies who all wear similar slippers, can’t hear the numbers called, forget what numbers have just been called or forget to cross off the numbers when they’re called and it all ends in an enormous slanging match. It’s fabulous and if you fancy joining you’d fit right in.

PineappleSituation · 29/10/2021 18:44

Someone's Great Aunt Nora will be thrilled to know that her old slippers have been rebranded as "vintage tapestry shoes". :o

I would love to be a fly on the wall for those bingo nights. :o
DappyApple · 29/10/2021 18:46

I don’t think they are slippers, if the were flat like ballet pumps then I’d have said slipper. But they do actually look like shoes.

NotSoNewAndShiny · 29/10/2021 18:48

I actually like them. They're cute. Love both the style of shoes, fabric pattern and texture.

Would prefer if they were brighter (not loud but not too dull) and for that, they do look more like home slippers but I'd happily wear them out and I'm not particularly vintage-y.

pasturesgreen · 29/10/2021 18:48

I wouldn't personally wear them, but if you like them by all means carry on!

And no, they don't look like slippers to me.

Sciurus83 · 29/10/2021 18:48

I mean, yes, you have bought slippers. They are let's say not to my taste but I enjoy how much you love them so go for it!

MrsEricBana · 29/10/2021 18:50

Ooh yeah, they are absolute shockers! But if you like them, who cares? Grin

LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer · 29/10/2021 18:51
