He has gone to Liverpool till Monday.
The hotel is paid for and includes breakfast.
He has taken £400 spending money.

He said "the bars are quite expensive down there"

So basically he is happy to potentially waste £400 on alcohol for two nights.

I'm annoyed and think it's pathetic
He said we are going for a nice meal tonight too.

£400 for two nights is just scandalous I think

Sounds about right to me. We just had a weekend away, 2 nights and spent £350.

rachybarrr · 23/10/2021 11:38

Well it is cash (debit card) not credit card.
He probably has that too tho.

He withdrew it from our savings to his debit card (which is a joint account )

Totally depends which bit of Liverpool he’s planning on drinking in and whether he’ll need taxis.

notacooldad · 23/10/2021 11:38

It’ll cost that much to park in the Number One car park !!!

Don't I know it!!,😳

Per hour!
notacooldad · 23/10/2021 11:40

It won't be all on drink. It'll be the incidentals that add up. ( taxis, snacks, meals entrance fees etc)

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 23/10/2021 11:40

If affordability is not a problem then no, it isn't too much. It'll make for a nice break

And it's not a waste of money if he'll have a good time with his friends, eating nice food and enjoying some drinks.

Ponoka7 · 23/10/2021 11:41

@KitchenKrisis
"Yes it's alot what else is he buying? Female company? Drugs?"
You can get a blow job in Liverpool for £5, so it's cheaper than a pub measure of JD.

OP I live in Liverpool, if you want a good weekend, I'd say £400 is about right. The nicer bars are more expensive. Do any of them want to go and see Liverpool/Everton grounds? Some just get a taxi to do both. It all adds up.

Chickychoccyegg · 23/10/2021 11:41

I wouldn't want to take less than that as you'd have to be careful not to overspend, he might not spend it all though

KitchenKrisis · 23/10/2021 11:42

I hadn't thought of restaurant actually, that would eat up budget yes.

KitchenKrisis · 23/10/2021 11:43

Ponoka

I was thinking more lap dances

KingsleyShacklebolt · 23/10/2021 11:43

@rachybarrr

Really ? God I couldn't imagine spending that much on drinks. He only drinks pints and JD How many is he planning on drinking
I'm assuming he's planning to eat as well, apart from the paid for breakfast?
rachybarrr · 23/10/2021 11:43

We live in a small town and drinks here are about £5 for a vodka and coke.
So I think that's why £400 seemed a lot.

I think they are drinking in some square or place near the Beatles bar (no clue names )

audweb · 23/10/2021 11:43

I could easily spend that much on a city break, eating out, taxis, other meals/snacks: alcohol, paying to get in clubs. It all adds up!

Bigeggsinapackoften · 23/10/2021 11:44

I budget £100 for an ordinary night out including taxi home so it doesn’t seem ott to me (hence why I hardly ever go out out it’s expensive!)

JingsMahBucket · 23/10/2021 11:44

That still seems a lot to me. I couldn’t get through £400 in London for two nights but then again, I’m not a big drinker.

Mathew Street area

Lunch
Dinner
Drinks
Snacks
Club entry
Taxis
Stuff to do in the daytimes
It all mounts up. I think £400 is probably reasonable, as long as you get the same to spend on your own treats.

grapewine · 23/10/2021 11:46

Easily done over a weekend. Especially with taxis back in the evening.

GoodnightGrandma · 23/10/2021 11:46

Did you agree to him taking your joint savings ? Are you taking the same amount to spend on yourself ?

The steak house wont be 60 for main and a starter. There'll be wine at restaurant prices and service charges and side orders etc. Could easily be 100.

The other easy money pits are:

  • taxis
  • gambling
  • late night kebabs
  • drugs/strippers
HunterHearstHelmsley · 23/10/2021 11:47

I'd budget £500 for a weekend away. I'd hope not to spend it all but I'd want to enjoy myself without too much worry about money.

Wroxie · 23/10/2021 11:47

I'm just confused that he's taking cash, lots of places don't even take it anymore. I would have no idea what my partner was spending or planning to spend on a weekend away, nor would he know about me, we would just take our cards and go.
