He has gone to Liverpool till Monday.
The hotel is paid for and includes breakfast.
He has taken £400 spending money.

He said "the bars are quite expensive down there"

So basically he is happy to potentially waste £400 on alcohol for two nights.

I'm annoyed and think it's pathetic
He said we are going for a nice meal tonight too.

£400 for two nights is just scandalous I think

Depends if you can afford it or not.

I would take that for a weekend away

GoodnightGrandma · 23/10/2021 11:31

I think that sounds about right for a two day bender.

Sirzy · 23/10/2021 11:31

Can you afford it?

It’s always better to take a bit more than you plan on spending as a just incase. Surely that includes food too not just alcohol? And whatever else they are planning on doing while there

KitchenKrisis · 23/10/2021 11:31

Yes it's alot what else is he buying? Female company? Drugs?

Smarshian · 23/10/2021 11:31

Doesn’t seem an outrageous amount to spend to me but it depends if you can afford it.

ImUninsultable · 23/10/2021 11:31

I've spent more than that on weekend breaks before.

If you can afford it then it's fine. If you cant though, and he's making the family scrimp and save so he can blow it on a weekend away then he's selfish ass.

Bavarois · 23/10/2021 11:31

Depends on the context. Work trip and he's alone? Far too much. Stag do? About right

rachybarrr · 23/10/2021 11:31

Really ?
God I couldn't imagine spending that much on drinks.
He only drinks pints and JD
How many is he planning on drinking

ABCeasyasdohrayme · 23/10/2021 11:31

£200 for drinks during the day and 2 nights out, £200 for 4 meals and spending. Sounds OK to me of you have the money tbh.

CRbear · 23/10/2021 11:31

Easily done! Agree with others- if you can afford it why not.

SD1978 · 23/10/2021 11:32

That's probably what I would budget. Not saying I'd spend that amount- I genuinely don't know, but wouldn't go with much less than that.

Feckauras · 23/10/2021 11:33

Sounds about right. Don’t forget he’s to get breakfast, lunch and dinner those days too.

nimbuscloud · 23/10/2021 11:33

Is he taking actual cash?

Bigeggsinapackoften · 23/10/2021 11:33

But he will still need lunch and dinner and any other spends eg shopping and activities.

AmDillDandin · 23/10/2021 11:33

Lunch, dinner, drinks for two days in a city centre... I don't think that sounds unreasonable.

Depends whether you can afford it though, or if there are other family expenses that should be priority right now.

iloverainandrainbows · 23/10/2021 11:34

I am planning on £5-600 for a wknd to York in March (includes spa and Bettys). I don't think that's excessive if he doesn't want to watch his pennies. If you are struggling though and this will leave you short for food/bills, then this is different.

GoodnightGrandma · 23/10/2021 11:34

It’ll cost that much to park in the Number One car park !!!

Cuntness · 23/10/2021 11:35

I wouldn't be impressed if my husband thought he had any say in how I spent my money. As long as it dies then leave you short to pay your bills, is it going to impact you at all?

ilovesooty · 23/10/2021 11:35

@KitchenKrisis

Yes it's alot what else is he buying? Female company? Drugs?
Why would that be the first thing to enter your head?
rachybarrr · 23/10/2021 11:35

Well we aren't struggling but it's still a lot of money in my eyes to waste on drink.
He is only going to spoons on Sunday for his food apparently.
Tonight they going to a steak house so say £60 for main and starter.

I don't really go out out much so maybe that's why it seems a lot.

Shoxfordian · 23/10/2021 11:36

If you can afford it then why does it matter?

rachybarrr · 23/10/2021 11:36

@KitchenKrisis no he isn't like that at all....he just has a taste for the drink when he is out.

notacooldad · 23/10/2021 11:37

Is he taking cash? That sounds a bit mad.
Most people use card.
I budget about that much. I'm not saying I'd spend that much but that's a ball park figure I'd have in my head to spend.

rooarsome · 23/10/2021 11:37

The cost depends on the bars/clubs in Liverpool too. I wouldn't say they are expensive on the whole, but then I don't frequent the more upmarket ones!
Tbh I would say that sounds about right for a weekend away with friends

ilovesooty · 23/10/2021 11:37

And taxi back to the hotel as well as the other things mentioned.
