He has gone to Liverpool till Monday.
The hotel is paid for and includes breakfast.
He has taken £400 spending money.

He said "the bars are quite expensive down there"

So basically he is happy to potentially waste £400 on alcohol for two nights.

I'm annoyed and think it's pathetic
He said we are going for a nice meal tonight too.

£400 for two nights is just scandalous I think

OP posts:
finopitta · 25/10/2021 18:47

He definitely hasn't bought anything while he's been there like a pair of trainers or something? clutching straws

Drumshambo · 25/10/2021 18:47

So adding the cost of the hotel and transport to get there., there's not much change from a grand!! Aren't you curious what he spent over £600 on OP?. I'm absolutely staggered that you're not!

Drumshambo · 25/10/2021 18:50

@ToastCrumbsOnAPlate

Sorry op. All of the previous posts regarding coke and lap dances don't seem so ridiculous now.
Absolutely this.
Dogscanteatonions · 25/10/2021 20:22

Echoing others now - I'd definitely be suspecting cocaine, it's so common you wouldn't believe

Yep and ket and DMT I have been offered all of the above everywhere I bloody go on a night out.
DrinkFeckArseBrick · 25/10/2021 20:48

£800 wtf you could both have gone on holiday for a week for that.
There is really something not right here OP. Firstly he is spending your joint money on some dodgy shit, as nothing non-dodgy costs that much money. And secondly it's a completely unequal relationship if he does that and you get shit over fifty quid

Keepthechangefilthyanimal · 25/10/2021 21:00

£630? I was in the £400 was reasonable OP. £630 no way.

browneyes77 · 25/10/2021 21:30

@rachybarrr

Well he is home. Spent the £400 and put over £230 on to the credit card. So I'm a bit annoyed but never mind So all in all 2 nights including hotel has cost nearly £800
Ok £400 I could accept. Costs of drinks and food can be high these days. So that was fairly reasonable for 2 days.

But £630??? Wtf??

sbhydrogen · 25/10/2021 21:32

I like to live lavishly when going on a weekend away, but £400 if you're going to eat at Wetherspoons is a bit much! Unless he fancies a bit of shopping?

sbhydrogen · 25/10/2021 21:34

Wait, I just read your latest post. What the heck did he spend all that money on?

Sprostongreen21 · 25/10/2021 21:47

You need to separate your savings including the money he has already spent. You got grief for a jacket and he spent this? Is it a joint credit card?

I was in the £400 is a lot camp. I’m obviously a cheapskate even when I’m drinking £10 cocktails but another £200 on top? Shock

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 25/10/2021 22:10

£800 on one weekend for one person is insane. Especially out of your joint savings account. What are you saving for btw? A house deposit? I would be fuming if it were me. You've basically subsided his blow out weekend.

I'd want to separate finances after this.

WeRTheOnesWeHaveBeenWaitingFor · 25/10/2021 22:35

I was on his side till the update. £400 is enough why did he go over?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 25/10/2021 22:40

Well, you seemed to be suspicious and he proved you right.

what did he spend the first £400 quid on that he needed to spend another £230 on a credit card????

There's one excuse I'd accept and that is buying luxury hand dyed wool. That's it.
Anything else and he goes in the sin bin!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 25/10/2021 22:47

@ToastCrumbsOnAPlate

Sorry op. All of the previous posts regarding coke and lap dances don't seem so ridiculous now.
exactly. I did ask OP if those and gambling were she worried about but she never answered (which is fine). But what else would he have to be so secretive about that he'd need hundreds of pounds in cash then ending up using more on the card????
Birdcloud · 25/10/2021 23:47

My blood is boiling and I don’t even know this man. How many units did he drink? Is he alcohol dependent?

rainbowstardrops · 26/10/2021 06:12

I'd want to know exactly what he spent all that money on!!!
I can't believe you're being so laid back about it.

Drumshambo · 26/10/2021 06:28

I think the op knows, something is not right. She wouldn't have started a thread on here otherwise! It sounds like she's in denial about it though.

DeadButDelicious · 26/10/2021 06:49

Lunch, dinner, snacks, room service, drinks, entry fees, taxis, parking if he's taking his own car, drinks, shopping etc. It all adds up, especially in a city. I can easily see how you'd spend £400 in a weekend in Liverpool on a weekend away.

That said, him taking £400 from your savings to spend on a nice time while you get grief for a £50 jacket is not on. Him taking £400 out of your savings and then an extra £230 on top is taking the piss.

Kylereese · 26/10/2021 06:53

I agree with @GoodnightGrandma it sounds right for 2 day bender.

All day drinking at £5 a pint and meals out add up

ShaneTheThird · 26/10/2021 06:57

£650 for a 2 day bender In liverpool does not sound about right unless he was on a coke bender
GoodnightGrandma · 26/10/2021 07:08

It’s £400, and it’s not just for drink.
Dinners, teas, coffees, snacks, alcohol, tickets etc

ScarlettSunset · 26/10/2021 07:29

I think it sounds like a ridiculous amount to take to just waste on alcohol and a couple of meals.
I'm actually a bit shocked so many people are saying it sounds about right.

Anjunna · 26/10/2021 09:30

Ridiculous amount

Kylereese · 26/10/2021 09:53

@ShaneTheThird it does to me - but it just depends on what lifestyle you’re used too I suppose.
