What would you think if you saw a grown woman roller skating in the street?

Honestly? I am seriously thinking of getting a pair. I ordered my four year old a pair of roller skates for Xmas, and I used to ice skate when I was younger and loved it. I would like to teach him but I would also like to take him to skate parks etc as something we can do together. What would you honestly think about someone my age roller skating about the place? I’ll be doing it with my kids though

I joined a karate class because my ds (5) wanted to but wasn't brave enough to go without me being close. 8 years later, I've never been so flexible.

No, I'd admire your balance. The last time I had a go on rollerskates I was eight and broke my wrist.

I would think:

" I wish I could roller skate."

I once saw one of the school mums roller skating while walking her dog. I was jealous as she looked so cool and carefree. I'd just end up on my arse!

I can rollerblade though, although not very well!

To be honest if think it really wasn't a great place to do it and I'd be seeing all the risks and hoping none of them went under a car or slammed into someone on the pavement!

In skate parks or other appropriate areas I'd be envious and wishing I could skate.

I would also worry you might fall and break your wrists so maybe wear wrist guard protection thingys. I feel like wrists are more useful at our age than as kids.

It’s a common alternative to jogging here. Usually inline skates rather than rollerskates, but niether is odd.

DH bought me a pair for my 40th. Still love them and skate regularly.

I'm 51 and I roller skate outside (the nearest rink is miles away).

One of my neighbors said that I must be trying to "recapture my youth" with a chuckle. I just muttered "dickhead" under my breath. My other neighbors have "thumbed up" me when they pass in their cars or bikes. The young girls next door see me and come out with me. Their 40-year-old mother just bought a pair so we've been enjoying it.
