What would you think if you saw a grown woman roller skating in the street?

Honestly? I am seriously thinking of getting a pair. I ordered my four year old a pair of roller skates for Xmas, and I used to ice skate when I was younger and loved it. I would like to teach him but I would also like to take him to skate parks etc as something we can do together. What would you honestly think about someone my age roller skating about the place? I’ll be doing it with my kids though

Nothing.

It's a really popular hobby. Loads of people of all ages and sexes do it round here (London). Just wish I could skate.

I've got roller blades, bought them in my 20s and suddenly realised how hilly my neighbourhood is... and how worn the pavements are.

I dust them off occasionally and there are some suitabls parks I can drive to. My main limit is the pressure they put on my high arches.

I got a scooter for my 36th birthday Grin
Other than for keeping up with the DCs, that's handy for speeding up local journeys without the inconvience of securing a bike.

Roller Skates are everywhere this year.. stunning beautiful colours too .. original quad skates.. I used to be okay... I have a wish list and Rollers are on it 💕

I'd just wish I was able to do it. My next door neighbours, a couple in early 30's, both do.

Cool! Loads of adults in London skate in Hyde park and there used to be a monthly (?) road skate. Always fun to see them going past.

Amazing!! Lots of people roller blade in Bournemouth, it’s fairly common to see them in the promenade. It looks more fun than running 😃

I would think "that looks fun" and wish I had the balance to do it. My best friend from school took up roller skating in her 40s and she is bloody great at it. Another friend started skateboarding.

Saw a grown man roller skating in Tenerife in a thong. My partners jaw hit the floor. even I had to admit he was fit.

Got sick of walking a few years ago and thought about skates (remember Jacko skates that fit onto any shoe?) and now I'm googling it 🤣🤣

@LookItsMeAgain wow that ad is such a blast from the past. I remember recording Top Gun onto VHS when it was shown on ITV and this ad was on the video, along with on the same ad break.

I'm in London and there's a woman who I see roller skating to work haha the first time I saw her I thought 'I wish I had the confidence to roller skate to work'

If I saw an adult roller skating I would imagine they must be a very odd person, and would not want them skating near me.

Why odd? How is skating different to an adult on a bicycle or a scooter. It’s just another form of exercise

When I lived in a European capital I saw a man roller skating work in a suit. I thought it was a bit odd but wished I had his confidence because I loved roller skating as a kid. Over the next few weeks I started seeing more and more people roller skating or using a non-electric scooter on their commute and realised it was normal there. I was never brave enough to get myself a pair (scared of the traffic). I live in a village in England now and there are a couple of mums who use scooters to take their kids to school. I think it's a brilliant idea. Much more fun than walking and I bet they rarely get the "but my legs are tired!" At the end of a long day.
