Currently sat drinking a bottle of red wine as its yummy..feeling guilty as I'm looking after my baby (6 months old) who's asleep in cot.. partner is also asleep but she's my responsibility tonight as he's in work early in the morn.... for added context, I'm a large lady so a bottle won't get me 'drunk' is this bad.. am i the only one who does this
...?

I don’t equate it with the actual driving as many can’t drive. I think if the legal limit means you can’t drive a car after exceeding it then I’d apply the same logic to looking after children personally.

I guess it's a risk judgement. I don't feel like I am unable to look after my children after a couple of drinks. I feel more impaired after a broken night's sleep which is one reason why we have shared night wakings duty where possible

A glass or two yes, absolutely. Enjoy. But a bottle, no.

I didn't drink at all till DS was about 18 months. It's the judgement /impairment /risk aspect for me. Add in sleep deprivation and it wasn't worth it.

It's really easy to think that you're fine, them wake needing a feed and then you pop the baby in bed with you and then roll onto them/blanket could go over their face/make the bottle too hot and burn them etc.

If you’re not getting plastered, rendering you too drunk to deal with the baby, I see no problem with this. Even if you were drunk, you have an OH who is presumably still sober. Why do you think there might be a problem? A whole bottle to yourself every night wouldn’t be very good for you, but presumably you’re asking as it’s just a one off, so enjoy your wine!
