Locked parking thread 2

Sorry everyone I didn't post a new thread last night but I was a bit freaked out by the comment about finding me online at the end.

Anyway as the world's most boring update it is still here but someone is coming round about lunchtime to pick it up.

I rang 101 and reported it and that I was concerned they'd essentially vanished. They said there wasn't anything they could do about the car as its on private land but I could be liable for any damage if I moved it and that they would check on the registered owner.

I posted it on a couple of the local Facebook groups last night saying
"Anyone know whose cat this is? Please get them to contact me urgently on xxxx as itll be being towed tomorrow"

I had a response from the guys DS and she said she'd contact him and get him ring me. He hasn't rang me but she messaged me back to say he'd collect it at lunchtime if that was OK. I've said fine but we going out at at 2 so if he's not here before then he won't be able to get it till we get back later.

And that's it really.

But how's that good
That means he can collect his car from the car park across the road. Thats a nice easy option for him. Saves him dealing with the OP

Blossomtoes · 01/08/2021 17:52

Also, not sure the AA/RAC would come out if it was on private land? I think they restrict themselves to, literally, "roadside" assistance?

Depends on the level of your contract with them. My AA membership literally covers me anywhere, including outside my house.

Vallmo47 · 01/08/2021 17:54

Can’t believe this is still going on. Sorry Op Shock

happinessischocolate · 01/08/2021 17:54

Have you looked at the fb friends of the "dsis" who contacted you and seen if he's on her friends list?

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 01/08/2021 17:55

Is there anyway for you to move it to the car park over the road? Hidden out of sight so he gets a ticket at the very least?

Sunbird24 · 01/08/2021 17:56

Oh yeah. Bother. They wouldn’t necessarily be nice enough to put it in the car park for him though, they might shunt it further round into OP’s yard, or drag it out and leave it on the road where the police might be more interested in it?
LivingInABuildingSite · 01/08/2021 17:58

As long as you don’t need access to the stables area then it’s causing you no inconvenience so yep just leave it there.

And tell the FC lot about it, they may have stronger feelings about shifting it out of their way(as long as they helpfully move it out of your way too if you need to get back and forth).

Meanwhile some CF is a Ranger down for as long as he refuses to deal with his own mess.

LivingInABuildingSite · 01/08/2021 17:58

Meanwhile I can’t decide whether to be disappointed in your lack of stamina for dessert or just impressed with carvery 2 nights running 💪

@Blossomtoes and @Billybagpuss we've got that too, the thing I'm not sure of is if it covers you for being on somebody else's drive - if you see what I mean? So you have home assistance to the address they have on file as your home but that's all.

Not that I've known people push their cars out on the road because they haven't got home rescue or anything.

SometimesIFeedTheSparrows · 01/08/2021 18:04

I think it's abominable that you were so full of rage and indignation that you weren't able to finish your carvery. For that alone you should end parking man. I hope the FC ranger has a good an for dealing with such wankers.

Mumdiva99 · 01/08/2021 18:05

Yummy carvery. Still waiting for cf to come back....if this thread starts filling up before he does. Please create a new one....I am busy tomorrow so won't be able to check as much. Lol.

jadfiewahnds · 01/08/2021 18:06

He is a wanker, I would be playing the long game now and being as awkward as possible but I'm petty as fuck

I had a carvery today, booked it last night while reading thread 1. Not Toby though, Hungry Horse. It was delicious, thanks for the inspiration. We're a suggestible lot aren't we? Grin

Yesitsbess · 01/08/2021 18:06

I hope the FC have a snowplough. Like those big trains do. Grin

MrsRLynde · 01/08/2021 18:08

I'm really only here for the yorkshire puddings, so apologies if someone else has already raised this, but do you think this car might be on a Ford leasing scheme? If so, the actual owners of the vehicle may not be that impressed it's been abandoned?

Jumpingintosummer · 01/08/2021 18:10

Lunch looks delicious… forgets why I am here Blush

itcouldhave · 01/08/2021 18:11

Somewhere, a woman is losing her shit at her partner because he has parked their car on someone else’s land and stubbornly refuses to go and apologise and ask to be let out.

He thinks admitting fault makes him look weak. She thinks he’s a prick and is furious because she can’t go to the sports centre with the kids. He thinks she’s being ridiculous and is determined to wait it out until the landowner asks him to move his car just to show he won’t be intimidated by anyone.

😀

Firefly89 · 01/08/2021 18:11

Put on Facebook that your glad it has been collected and see how quickly he returns from his ‘bike ride’!

ScrambledSmegs · 01/08/2021 18:12

I believe vehicles can still be classed as abandoned if left on private land, and the local authority can remove them. I think it takes a bit longer than those left on private roads though.

However if the FC requires access and removes it... no chance they'll do anything as obliging to the tosser as leaving it in a nearby car park. At least, not the people they employ around here anyway.

ScrambledSmegs · 01/08/2021 18:13
  • public roads, not private.
Congressdingo · 01/08/2021 18:14

@Mountainpika

Fill the car with Yorkshire puddings.
A terrible waste of a fabulous Yorkshire. Can we all club together to make enough. I've got 23 eggs, can make 4 giant ones or about 72 small. Willing to do this in the name of everyone who has been beset by a cf.
Daleksatemyshed · 01/08/2021 18:14

Love @Firefly89,s idea, please do this OpGrin

Mumdiva99 · 01/08/2021 18:15

@itcouldhave you are so right!! Grin

@firefly89 you evil genius.....

Window1 · 01/08/2021 18:15

@AuntLydiasNewHairdo

Toby carveries all over the country are wondering why they're so busy.
People that went to the Carvery are geniuses. I now know why I don't make a roast regularly. 3 hours later just had dinner. Enjoyed it yes but took a fair amount of time and there's a heap of dishwasher loading to do. Good job I had sufficient wine to keep me going.

I'll go to Toby next time.

negrilbaby · 01/08/2021 18:16

What's the charge for parking in your neck of the woods forest? Write out a bill for 19+ hours of parking, to be paid before the car is released! Don't let him off for free Grin
