Locked parking thread 2

BlueEyesWhiteDragon · 01/08/2021 07:38

Sorry everyone I didn't post a new thread last night but I was a bit freaked out by the comment about finding me online at the end.

Anyway as the world's most boring update it is still here but someone is coming round about lunchtime to pick it up.

I rang 101 and reported it and that I was concerned they'd essentially vanished. They said there wasn't anything they could do about the car as its on private land but I could be liable for any damage if I moved it and that they would check on the registered owner.

I posted it on a couple of the local Facebook groups last night saying
"Anyone know whose cat this is? Please get them to contact me urgently on xxxx as itll be being towed tomorrow"

I had a response from the guys DS and she said she'd contact him and get him ring me. He hasn't rang me but she messaged me back to say he'd collect it at lunchtime if that was OK. I've said fine but we going out at at 2 so if he's not here before then he won't be able to get it till we get back later.

And that's it really.

I was thinking about this thread all night…. Hope he apologises still

Mumdiva99 · 01/08/2021 08:05

What a bigger arse than he was yesterday!! He couldn't even apologise. I hope he has his tail between his legs.whatever you do do not open the gate so he can slink off without knocking and saying sorry.

Hellodarknessmyoldpal · 01/08/2021 08:05

Ugh what a twat. I wonder what his plan was to save admitting to being in the wrong. Write it off as bad luck and just buy a new car? Will he still have to knock your door to ask you to open the gate?

Billybagpuss · 01/08/2021 08:06

Oh I hope his family are judging him as much as we are, I wonder how he’s spun it.

Fernando072020 · 01/08/2021 08:08

Sorry some comments upset you last night, op. I hope you're feeling less anxious about it today.

That guy is an absolute twat. He did something wrong and actually sacrificed his car as to not dent his pride? Some people... 🙄

Still, hopefully he has learned a lesson from this. If someone says move your car, I'm locking up in 5 minutes, maybe he'll listen next time!

Timeforabiscuit · 01/08/2021 08:08

If he doesn't rock up grovelling and with a peace offering in hand I'd be reading them the riot act!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 01/08/2021 08:08

Happily that Google Earth suggestion would probably get my house too!

And a fair few others around the forest here. And I don't think OP and I live anywhere near each other. Not the same county, not the same forest. Gilbert was just spinning twaddle!

@BlueEyesWhiteDragon I too doubt he will have the balls to come and get his own car, but you just have to explain to whoever does come and get it that farm tracks and gates have a purpose and it is your livelihood you are protecting. That he was inconvenienced was just tough shit, he was told and chose to act like a dick.

Maybe go back to the FB post and add that sort of info once the car has gone. As I said FC here often have to move vehicles parked in their gates. Us locals are sensible about it and know the times the gates are padlocked (against raves) but many visitors see the wide entrances with single bar gates across as fair game. And then get surprised when that 'lonely forest track' turns out to be quite a busy FC road or road to a timbermill - that was fun when there was a fire at the mill and 4 cars were shunted off the track, cue some very, very angry visitors moaning about how unwelcome they were made to feel here!!

Star81 · 01/08/2021 08:09

Can’t believe he just left it rather than come to your door, apologise for basically ignoring what you asked him and take his car home !

TheSunShinesBrighter · 01/08/2021 08:09

Weirder and weirder.
I’ll take a guess and say that the ‘someone’ collecting the car won’t be the original driver.

melj1213 · 01/08/2021 08:09

Will he still have to knock your door to ask you to open the gate?

I would assume so - the OP can't leave the gate open indefinitely since it would invalidate the insurance on her expensive farm machinery - so once he arrives he will have to make himself known to the OP so she can open the gate to let him out and then secure it again behind him.

BlueEyesWhiteDragon · 01/08/2021 08:12

He'll still have to knock to get out as the gates are still locked so really all he's done is annoy DB more who is coming up with increasingly ridiculous ideas to inconvenience him picking it up.

  • horse poo under door handles
  • let air out tyres
  • tying 100 balloons to the car
  • wrap it bubble wrap
I mean we aren't going to do any of them but it's entertaining listening to him suggesting them.

What an entitled coward! Glad he is coming to collect it though.

I would be waiting and I would definitely be offering guidance on how to park considerably in future.

BananasAboutBananas · 01/08/2021 08:13

Don't just leave the gate open for him OP, he has had zero consequences so far, the least he can do is have an awkward conversation. I would be waiting for an apology before I opened the gate too.

BananasAboutBananas · 01/08/2021 08:14

I will put money on him sending someone else to collect it..... cowardly CF.

Soubriquet · 01/08/2021 08:14

Goodness me what a palava

He should have moved the car when he was told it was private land. I have no sympathy for him

RandomMess · 01/08/2021 08:15

What an utter dick that owner is!!!

When he does knock I think I would ask him if he's always such an entitled cowardly prick Angry

PanamaPattie · 01/08/2021 08:18

@BananasAboutBananas

I will put money on him sending someone else to collect it..... cowardly CF.
Yep - I too thought this will happen. Coward.
PegasusReturns · 01/08/2021 08:18

I’ll bet money he doesn’t collect it. What a dick!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 01/08/2021 08:25

What a coward. Bet he asked for a lift from a friend. Car might have “broken down” and he needed rescuing. With kids and bikes.

What a knobber. I also agree that the chances of him returning are slim.

Thanks for the update. Been thinking about this thread all night.

Sundancerintherain · 01/08/2021 08:25

Glad you've come back op, I'm not surprised he hasn't contacted you directly, the coward.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 01/08/2021 08:25

So by the time it’s collected his 5mins has turned into 26 hours?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 01/08/2021 08:26

Still it hopefully will send a message out to the community not to park at your place. Because you really mean it when you say no parking.

Coffeepot72 · 01/08/2021 08:27

Thanks for the update OP

Wanttocry · 01/08/2021 08:29

What was his plan if you hadn’t posted it on fb, that’s what I want to know. To just buy a new car?

LakieLady · 01/08/2021 08:29

I hope he turns up with a bunch of flowers as an apology for inconveniencing you, OP.

But he won't, because he's a twat. And if he sends someone else to get the car (which I think he might well do), he's a cowardly twat.
