No washing machine at centreparcs

SuperCaliFragalistic · 26/07/2021 22:39

I'm at centreparcs for a week. Someone else paid for this holiday which I'm very grateful for. However our 4 bed (sleeps 8) Lodge doesn't have a washing machine and there are no laundry facilities on site. I know its a massive rip off anyway, and I know I should have checked the details and packed more stuff, but seriously? Now I'm expected to rinse my knickers in the sink after paying 4k for this this holiday! It takes the piss.

Don't they still do a laundry service? They did pre-covid but may not these days. I remember you had to drop off clothes at customer service and pay per wash (it wasn't cheap) and then the next day they'd deliver it to your chalet.

I agree it's annoying - we've been a few times and the first time just assumed like any decent holiday home they'd have a washing machine in each chalet- thought I'd brought enough clothes but somehow the kids got through several changes of clothes a day.

Hope you find something and manage to enjoy the holiday

SuperCaliFragalistic · 26/07/2021 22:53

I'm only an hour from home. I'm tempted to pop home (leave the kids with my mum) one evening and collect more clothes. But I realise this is probably mad.

I've never stayed in a holiday home before that didn't have a washing machine and they've always been used after beach trips, night time accidents and just to avoid packing too much.

@MaggieFS

If you're staying somewhere self catering for a week, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a washing machine. Especially family places where kids who make to end of mess will be staying.

That said, as OP has acknowledged, she should have checked.

Not always. But most towns have a laundrette or cleaners you can drop off for service wash . Done at Flitwick for c p and in Dorset. They wash dry fold it all for you. Around £10 depending on weight
Southwestrunningmum · 26/07/2021 22:55

I’m with you, I would expect one. I’d much rather put on a wash than spend the time packing and unpacking twice as many clothes

Shieldingending · 26/07/2021 22:56

Which one are you at? If Whinfell there's a Sainsbury's not far away which has a clothes section. Personally I'd love a washer / dryer at CP forthright swimming towels if nothing else!

SuperCaliFragalistic · 26/07/2021 22:56

And I've checked with guest services - no option to wash clothes on site at all except the aforementioned sink wash. Which is a bit fucking primitive given that CP give it the big one on it being a relaxing family break.

Yanbu, even campsites have washing machines.

user1471541711 · 26/07/2021 22:57

I don’t want someone else washing my smalls ! I thought there was a launderette at elvendon

SuperCaliFragalistic · 26/07/2021 22:57

I'm at longleat.

They used to have a launderette I think at Sherwood at least. I've definitely used one at one of the CPs but it would have been many (20?) years ago. Perhaps they got rid of them if they weren't much used.
Apparently you can book a wash with guest services these days though, have a look through the guest info, it will probably tell you in there

Etinox · 26/07/2021 22:58

@DDIJ

I think it is ridiculous that a place that markets itself on the basis of small children being in the outdoors can't provide a washing machine. Even a coin op laundrette would do the job. It's not exactly a cheap holiday.
Utterly yanbu at all op.
DecentPleasant · 26/07/2021 22:58

You can get a service wash.
At Whinfell the Lakeside lodges have washing machines but it’s a secret! Bonkers they don’t have machines I agree, but I always check.

OwlinaTree · 26/07/2021 22:58

I would not be bothered to do washing on holiday. It would be hard work getting it all dry, this would be the main off putting point for me. We are in a caravan this week and there is no where to hang anything and no airer, struggling to get the beach stuff dry let alone a load of laundry!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 26/07/2021 22:59

I don’t really expect a washing machine on holiday - or want one! I’d rather just pack enough for the week.

I also love CP even though I know it’s not cool to say so on here.

Chouetted · 26/07/2021 23:00

Some of the posters in this this thread remind me of the AirBnB host who advertised use of her kitchen, and then was very surprised when I actually wanted to cook in it.

Yes, I would expect a washing machine in self catering - heck, some hotels offer washing machines for guest use.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 26/07/2021 23:00

No washing machine?! Even the most basic holiday home has a washing machine ffs!

Rabbitheadlights · 26/07/2021 23:01

I'd expect a washing machine too OP.

NellePorter · 26/07/2021 23:02

I always wash whilst on holiday, I've done a load today, it saves it being a massive chore when we get home!

JamMakingWannaBe · 26/07/2021 23:03

There's an outdoor self service washing machine in Trowbridge. I've used them for duvets before and they provide the detergent.

DanglingMod · 26/07/2021 23:04

Gobsmacked at no washing machines. I've never stayed in self-catering facilities without one, from £400 a week upwards. £4k and no washer? Bloody hell.

Blogdog · 26/07/2021 23:04

I agree with you OP.

FWIW I stayed in CenterParcs in Germany and we had a washer/dryer in our lodge there.

Clymene · 26/07/2021 23:04

The whole point is that it's a holiday. You don't do laundry on a holiday.

Embracelife · 26/07/2021 23:05

Or buy more underwear in sainsbury

Pinotwoman82 · 26/07/2021 23:05

I think with CP it’s mainly people going for the Friday- Monday or Monday - Friday so they probably feel people don’t really need one in that time frame. However having said that I’m going for a week soon and it would be handy to have some sort of laundrette available
