No washing machine at centreparcs

470 replies

SuperCaliFragalistic · 26/07/2021 22:39

I'm at centreparcs for a week. Someone else paid for this holiday which I'm very grateful for. However our 4 bed (sleeps 8) Lodge doesn't have a washing machine and there are no laundry facilities on site. I know its a massive rip off anyway, and I know I should have checked the details and packed more stuff, but seriously? Now I'm expected to rinse my knickers in the sink after paying 4k for this this holiday! It takes the piss.

OP posts:
worriedatthemoment · 27/07/2021 00:40

Also if away I take at least 2 pair knickers per day , always have plenty clean knickers

UrAWizHarry · 27/07/2021 00:41
@UrAWizHarry all you need for a package holiday on the Costas is shorts and T shirts, so yes I can see that. But whenever I've rented a villa or gite they've always had a washing machine.
It's still the summer, in England, in a heat wave. You maybe need an extra pair of jeans or something compared to abroad but come on, for a weeks holiday most people could easily manage without a washing machine, and it's not like CP don't explicitly tell you there aren't facilities.

SecretKeeper1 · 27/07/2021 00:41

The options for CP stays are 3, 4 or 7 nights. Most guests are there for 3 or 4 and wouldn’t need a washing machine or want to do laundry while away.

Pointless them installing thousands of
washing machines across all the sites (and do we need tumble dryers as well?) that just would not get used. An on-site launderette, for those rare moments of guests needing one, would be a better idea. Suggest it, OP.

worriedatthemoment · 27/07/2021 00:42

Its not packing your entire wardrobe though is it , 7 days , maybe 8/9 tops and 5 bottoms ans lots underwear should easily see through , thats a small bags worth

Ohdofuckofdear · 27/07/2021 00:58

That is a bit rubbish I'd have a look online OP and see if there's a laundrette(no doubt spelt that wrong,sorry)near by some because that would be alot cheaper than having to buy more clothes.

WhatsTheEffingPoint · 27/07/2021 01:04

Look up portable/caravan washing machine, amazon probably do them for next day delivery. I run a campsite (with laundry facilities) but a few of our seasonal pitch holders who have kids have them.

Derbee · 27/07/2021 01:12

So you went on holiday without knowing how long you were going for? Confused

Do you not work? Do you not need to arrange anything around holidays, and have an idea how long you’ll be away for??

You presumably arrived on Friday, so only went away with 2 pairs of pants?

LolaO · 27/07/2021 01:23

From Longleat Warminster is a super short drive - 10 mins tops - and has a reasonable selection of shops - M & co is cheap and cheerful and would have a selection of clothes and underwear plus there’s Peacocks and other shops. Or, if you’re on a tight budget the Asda in Frome has a George clothing section. Buying a few bits is what I’d do I think.

Snugglybuggly · 27/07/2021 01:25

Does centerparcs still mean the same tthing

starfishmummy · 27/07/2021 01:26

@Clymene

The whole point is that it's a holiday. You don't do laundry on a holiday.
Except when you have had to fill a big car boot so full with wheelchair and medical supplies and there isnt room for a lot of clothes.
NigellaAwesome · 27/07/2021 01:32

SnarkyBag
How odd to expect a washing machine at centre parks! Even odder not to pack enough pants for a week they hardly take up a lot of room!

My pants are so big that my DH mistakes them for t-shirts. They definitely take up a lot of room.

Seesawmummadaw · 27/07/2021 01:36

I’ve never been to a centerparks but wouldn’t be happy at not having a washing machine.

Also…. How much?!!

KateTheEighth · 27/07/2021 06:16

@SuperCaliFragalistic

I'm only an hour from home. I'm tempted to pop home (leave the kids with my mum) one evening and collect more clothes. But I realise this is probably mad.

I've never stayed in a holiday home before that didn't have a washing machine and they've always been used after beach trips, night time accidents and just to avoid packing too much.

I would do this

Go home take dirty washing, put a load on while you get clean stuff, have a cup of tea while you wait (and enjoy the peace!) and head back with lots of clean clothes

It would be a no brainier for me

ohthatbloodycat · 27/07/2021 06:18

Get a life! A free holiday and you're still bloody moaning Confused

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2021 06:23

@ineedaholidaynow

If people do washing on holiday, do you sit in the lodge whilst the washing machine is on, bearing in mind you aren't meant to leave a washing machine/tumble dryer running at night or in an empty house
Generally I’d quickly stick a load on when I got up in the morning on an hour wash cycle. 🤷‍♀️ Or in the evening when we got in. The last self catering I stayed in told us to switch the dishwasher on as we left so not sure about the not running appliances when out thing?
Iwastheparanoidex · 27/07/2021 06:29

That has to be a great marketing opportunity for revolution laundry.

I’m sure there used to be a way to get clothes washed because we had a puke incident but I’ve not been in years.

I couldn't agree more but when the baby has a poo explosion or the toddler spill his dinner all over him, a machine makes life much easier.
TheFairyCaravan · 27/07/2021 06:50

Why are people making out that doing laundry is such an arduous task? You’re putting a few items in a machine, not trekking down the river with a bar of soap to start scrubbing fgs.

I’d have thought there would have been a washing machine in the lodges or at least a launderette on site. However, as you live an hour away I’d pop home for some clean clothes if I was you, @SuperCaliFragalistic.

Congressdingo · 27/07/2021 06:52

@ineedaholidaynow

Who does laundry if you go somewhere for a weekend? Isn't this the point of a holiday, to get away from household chores
For a weekend no, I don't wash stuff. For a week yes. To save taking many many towels and 8 changes of clothing. If I'm on holiday i dont care if people see me in the same tshirt twice. I also only take one pair boots, sandals, trainers. And i have a big car. I hate coming home to 9 wash loads. It ruins a holiday for me.
Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2021 06:55

Exactly. How on earth are people doing laundry that makes it so time consuming and difficult? Chuck stuff in machine, switch it on. Am I missing something? Confused

miltonj · 27/07/2021 06:56

Why is it odd to expect a washing machine at a holiday lodge? It's aimed at families, of course you'd expect a washing machine. What are people with small babies meant to do? Let alone older children, who still have accidents, throw up, get muddy. Bit weird to expect them to keep all the soiled clothes in a bag until they go home.

DinosaurDiana · 27/07/2021 06:57

Put your knickers in the dishwasher.

Snowwhite83 · 27/07/2021 06:58

Don't blame you for being disappointed OP. I would be suprised too. Good to know incase we go!

GrinGrin you didn't get hit by the floods on Sunday then?
