No washing machine at centreparcs

SuperCaliFragalistic · 26/07/2021 22:39

I'm at centreparcs for a week. Someone else paid for this holiday which I'm very grateful for. However our 4 bed (sleeps 8) Lodge doesn't have a washing machine and there are no laundry facilities on site. I know its a massive rip off anyway, and I know I should have checked the details and packed more stuff, but seriously? Now I'm expected to rinse my knickers in the sink after paying 4k for this this holiday! It takes the piss.

Why would you want to be washing on holiday? I always take enough underwear for everyday plus several spares.

ODFOx · 26/07/2021 23:40

Haven't been for over 17 years but there used to be a laundry. The treat of Centre Parcs vs any other UK park family holiday back then was that you could arrive home with cases of clean ironed clothes and just re-engage with home life with no additional stress.
So sorry it isn't working out as you'd hoped OP. Maybe put it in your feedback? It used to be a USP for them.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 26/07/2021 23:41

CP is for families, children have accidents.

Can't believe they don't have washing machines!

FrangipaniBlue · 26/07/2021 23:42

@SuperCaliFragalistic

And I've checked with guest services - no option to wash clothes on site at all except the aforementioned sink wash. Which is a bit fucking primitive given that CP give it the big one on it being a relaxing family break.
Doing laundry is not my idea of a relaxing family break

Baffles me why people insist on doing washing while on holiday.

Does it not just make it "same shit, different location"?

babytops · 26/07/2021 23:43

I LOVE centerparcs! Have never even thought of the fact that they don't have washing machines. It's a short break don't people just pack enough clothes plus spares?
We're going away abroad soon and haven't even looked if there's a washing machine there as the last thing I want to do is a load of laundry.
Isn't it normal to pack like double the amount of underwear you need or is that just me?

SuperCaliFragalistic · 26/07/2021 23:46

Well lots about going on holiday with small children is "same shit, different location". But that's OK, I like keeping my kids clean and fed and happy. I don't think that packing your entire wardrobe and then doing 5+ loads of washing on your return is necessarily better than packing light and doing 1 or 2 loads midweek?

Eatenpig · 26/07/2021 23:47

I'm sorry but surely most people just pack what they need?!?!? Kids wear grubby stuff.

But it’s not hard shoving a load of washing in on a wash and dry cycle, going home without a heap of laundry is much better.

UrAWizHarry · 26/07/2021 23:48

It's pretty clear from the lodge descriptions that there are no washing machines, so it's kinda your own fault.

And I've never used a washing machine in a holiday lodge. Just take enough clothes to last the days + 1 or 2 spares along with a big bag to stick the dirty stuff in as you go. I don't go on holiday to be doing sodding laundry.

TeachesOfPeaches · 26/07/2021 23:49

£4000 for a week at Centre Parks Shock

Eatenpig · 26/07/2021 23:49

I never wash either unless there over : weeks

Taliskerskye · 26/07/2021 23:50

Not everyone has massive cars to carry 12 suitcases of spare clothes
I like to pack light and wash clothes.
I am amazed that they presume people can bring loads of clothes with them

SD1978 · 26/07/2021 23:52

Most if not all caravan parks have washing facilities. Really not unreasonable to assume that they do there too. I'd rather take half the clothes and wash them than pack for multiple people for a week, multiple outfits a day (for kids)

Nobody goes to CP for more than a week, usually it's 3 or 4 nights. That's easily doable without needing to do washing but ultimately nobody is forcing people to go so.... meh.
olidora63 · 26/07/2021 23:54

I am a Mum of 20 plus year olds and always took enough underwear for the family. Surely the details for your accommodation would have detailed about washing/ laundry facilities!

Sparklingbrook · 26/07/2021 23:55

The more I hear about CP the worse it gets. I wouldn’t go self catering anywhere without a washing machine.
I always ‘do laundry’ (put washing in machine and switch on that is-hardly time consuming) before we come home.

Xmasbaby11 · 26/07/2021 23:59

Oh no, poor you op. I'd expect one too. The lodges are generally well equipped. I've only been once for 4 days, so didn't need to wash anything, but I always overpack.

£4fucking K 😳 fuckedy fuck that.....jeeez I’m gobsmacked

MiddlesexGirl · 27/07/2021 00:01

@Anoisagusaris

Most decent holiday homes have washing machines.
This. It's a right pain if there are no washing facilities when you have small children or muddy activities planned.
Mustbemagic · 27/07/2021 00:02

I can't understand what is so arduous about rinsing your underwear in a sink for a couple of days? You could have done it in the time spent posting on MN.
Even if there was a washing machine, you'd likely have to go to the on store for washing powder (unless you remembered to pack your own), it is potentially about the same cost to just buy a pack of underwear?

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2021 00:03

If I was only an hour from home I’d probably pop back for more clothes and dump the washing off too.

recreationalcalpol · 27/07/2021 00:03

You have literally just described any holiday with small children.

YANBU OP, not having a washing machine is ridiculous. I’ve never been to a CP, but it sounds shit.

It's for 8 people for 7 nights and was actually slightly less than that but with the various activities the kids want to do I rounded it up. Tis expensive though and wouldn't be happening if it weren't for the family circumstances this year.

There is a laundrette in Warminster, 6 min drive. Called Wash and Go

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2021 00:07

If you have to get in the car and go to the laundrette plus wait for it to do you may as well go home for more clothes.
