No washing machine at centreparcs

I'm at centreparcs for a week. Someone else paid for this holiday which I'm very grateful for. However our 4 bed (sleeps 8) Lodge doesn't have a washing machine and there are no laundry facilities on site. I know its a massive rip off anyway, and I know I should have checked the details and packed more stuff, but seriously? Now I'm expected to rinse my knickers in the sink after paying 4k for this this holiday! It takes the piss.

I am currently on holiday, I plan to wash, so have brought enough for half the week, we had the car stuffed to the gills as it was without adding more clothes.

I would expect a minimum of a laundry room, there can be many reasons why someone needs to wash on holiday. (That isn't just down to not packing enough knickers)

Exactly. Surely I can’t be the only to have kids that have puked through their bedding plus the spare?

Loving that this thread is still going strong 💪🏼

I've just come back from Center Parcs and it's making me want to go back 😊

I’m sure you’re not. I’d contact housekeeping and request clean sheets in that situation.

MargosKaftan · 31/07/2021 11:57

Yep, why would I wash the sheets if a dcs puked, just get the staff to replace and clean them. That's part of what you are paying for.

They arent set up for long stays of a week or more, they are set up for the 3 or 4 night stays they normally have guests stay for. That's why they have change over days on Mondays and Fridays, not Saturdays - places that expect you to stay in week blocks have change overs on Saturday or Sunday.

Its like being surprised they don't have a desk /work space when every Premier Inn /air Bnb have spaces to work in, its not designed to be that sort of place to stay.

You'd want to wash the various pukey clothes though?

I have a holiday let, designed for 7 and 14 day breaks and it's a Friday changeover.

Loads of places are Friday changeovers for week holidays, it's not unusual at all.

Yes They provide the sheets and towels Go to guest service and request more You would not wash them yourself
newnortherner111 · 31/07/2021 16:36

Accept personal responsibility. You did not check before going. Center Paris did not say it would be provided, so you knew.

When abroad I like to have a hotel with a room safe, so I can leave house keys and UK money safely and not have to keep them with me. So I check when booking.

Given some of the things people have described, I don't blame Center Parcs anyway.

Hesma · 31/07/2021 17:07

Honestly. Who wants to do laundry when on holiday. I thought most people brought enough plus spares for the break…or maybe that’s just me 😵‍💫

Have you read the thread? Lots of posters have explained why they put a quick wash on on holiday.

Not just you! But lots don't, read the thread it'll fully explain why sone don't.

I love the "do washing" like it's some great chore, like open washing machine door and put washing in.... 45 seconds!

NakedAttraction · 31/07/2021 20:50

I was more meaning when staying in a self catered place without housekeeping, a holiday cottage where you’ve taken bedding for a travel cot for example.

ifonly4 · 31/07/2021 21:02

I guess we're very lucky here, never considered or had to put on a washing machine on holiday.

billy1966 · 31/07/2021 21:58

Funny thread.

I thought it was a great tip years ago when we stayed in hotel self catering to throw on regular washes so I didn't return with several loads.

I thought it was super advice.

It had never occurred to me todo so before.

I loved hotel self catering.
The comforts of good food, swimming pools, facilities etc., combined with plenty of space.

Macncheeseballs · 31/07/2021 22:05

7 days = 7 knickers or more

user1471447863 · 31/07/2021 22:16

By the sounds of it there are a hell of a lot of people who are going to get a pleasant surprise when they discover the labour saving convenience of the automatic washing machine. No more chopping wood for the fire to heat the water to boil things in, no more trecking down to a fact flowing river to scrub things on a flat rock. 🙄
Either that or a lot of people have housekeepers etc who do the laundry for them at home....

Aside from that, yes I too am surprised by the lack of laundry facilities at centreparcs especially considering much of their target customer base are young families and they are also popular locations for families with a disabled member.
I've been several times with a baby/young child and have had to wash things with travel wash in the bathroom sink of an evening (no great hardship). We did also use the laundry service from guest services for some reason once as a last resort.
It only takes a couple of sickups, spills, nappy failures or just a bit of mucky fun in the woods to wreck the clothing calculations especially when kids are involved.
I guess I'm another one who didn't check the website before hand to see if self service laundry services were or were not available, the same as I did not check whether beds or cutlery were provided - it's not unreasonable to assume some things when virtually every other place I've stayed in the past, including campsites, have had machines available.

On the other hand, centreparcs do seem to know what they are doing - they run at an average of 96% capacity over the year (or something like that), and while almost everything is 'expensive' it's priced at a point you'll grudgingly accept it rather than at a 'i'll do with out it at that price' point, so they must know what people need, want and use.

As an aside, I will say that they are an excellent place for having a medical emergency as we unfortunately found out once.

Corcory · 31/07/2021 22:17

Never been the Centre parks but do camp and caravan and the vast majority of sites have washing machines for the guests. Have also been to larger self catering lodges that have washing machines. Pretty standard I would say. Shame on you Centre Parks.

Try launderette Culver Hill, Frome BA11 5AD, United Kingdom

DingDongThongs · 01/08/2021 18:44

if you're at Centerparcs in Penrith - West Lane Laundry Penrith CA11 7DL - this is also on FB

www.facebook.com/pages/category/Local-Service/West-Lane-Laundry-Penrith-100894344891917/

Sainsburys Penrith have lots of cheap knickers. As does M & Co in Penrith in Penrith New Squares.

Good luck x
