No washing machine at centreparcs

SuperCaliFragalistic · 26/07/2021 22:39

I'm at centreparcs for a week. Someone else paid for this holiday which I'm very grateful for. However our 4 bed (sleeps 8) Lodge doesn't have a washing machine and there are no laundry facilities on site. I know its a massive rip off anyway, and I know I should have checked the details and packed more stuff, but seriously? Now I'm expected to rinse my knickers in the sink after paying 4k for this this holiday! It takes the piss.

How have we gone from washing machines (or not) at Centre Parcs to taking a musical instrument on holiday? Confused

It’s MN, conversations twist and turn, take detours - just like real life.

Sorry!

For my family, we need a washing machine on holiday because
a) we don't have enough clothes for a week without washing, especially if the weather is bad and
b) we have a smallish car and some slightly bulky items that we have to take with us....neither seem very odd until I reveal the nature of the bulky objects.....

cantkeepawayforever · 28/07/2021 15:39

[Just very glad he doesn't play the double bass, is all I can say]

Sparklingbrook · 28/07/2021 15:45

Oh. Thanks for that @Blossomtoes I had no idea. 😂

People keep on saying 7 pairs of knickers is enough for a week. Shock
Ninkanink · 28/07/2021 16:05

I love that we’re now discussing bringing instruments on holiday! Grin

Then why question that it’s happened?
woodhill · 28/07/2021 16:22

@senoritarita

Have never been on holiday and washed clothes? For a one week stay, I'd back about 14 pairs and enough outfits for 7 days and 7 nights ?
Then you end up with a lot of luggage perhaps. My dh moans if I take too much. I find I I don't always wear half of it sometimes
Blossomtoes · 28/07/2021 16:22

Yes. Seven days, seven pairs of knickers. Not everyone wears them at night.

woodhill · 28/07/2021 16:26

Also putting all the stuff away when you get home so easier not to take too much

GintyMcGinty · 28/07/2021 16:32

Who is ants to do a washing on holiday.

GintyMcGinty · 28/07/2021 16:33

HeronLanyon · 28/07/2021 16:49

Lots and lots of people. As this thread proves

I don't wear them at night.Confused But when I'm going out to eat in the evening, I'll be showering and having a complete change of clothes including underwear.
ineedaholidaynow · 28/07/2021 17:22

When we are at CP there isn't always that much dressing up, many times we go straight from the pool to the restaurant, so just bung on the clothes we were wearing before, especially if then cycling back to the lodge.

CP isn't really a dressing up place, so having multiple outfits isn't really necessary. People aren't going to be horrified you are wearing the same trousers etc that you wore the day before.

You change your clothes twice a day and never wear anything more than once?

You must really love washing and hate the environment.

Ah ok. So only one pair of knickers a day plenty for Centre Parcs.
ineedaholidaynow · 28/07/2021 17:39

Maybe that's why they don't have washing machines!

Yes maybe it should be in the info pack. ‘Guests are requested to bring one pair of knickers for each day as there’s no washing machine’ Grin

This thread is fabulous. I just don't understand those who a) wear 2/3 outfits a day on a holiday like a centerparcs one (not counting swimwear) and b) people who waste their limited time on holiday doing washing to save time at home.

I had assumed CP doesn't have clothes washing facilities because in non-covid times, most people either do their 3 night (Friday-Monday) or 4 night (Monday-Friday) stay, I know so many people who have gone to CP and none have gone for a whole week or more until this summer. Most people won't bother doing washing on holiday when they are going for such a short time and there's lots of other stuff to do.

Centerparcs UK just isn't set up for people going for a long time. Sure they'll take your money for a long break, but that isn't the market they were designing their living spaces for. Bit like expecting a desk because its standard in so many hotels/air bnb places.

If there’s a tumble dryer it literally takes 10 minutes of my time to do a load of washing, if that. 5 minutes to sort and load, 5 minutes to unload and fold. I can’t stand facing the piles of laundry at home if you’ve been away for a week or more and brought back suitcases full of dirty laundry.

Can’t comment on the outfits at centerparks specifically as I’ve not been. But I’ll often go through 5 gym kits in a week, and I don’t really want them hanging around not being washed until we get home.

Sparklingbrook · 30/07/2021 15:40

You can put a load of washing on in seconds and let it run while you do something else. You don't have to stare at the machine for the whole cycle. It's hardly 'doing washing'.

PluggingAway · 30/07/2021 23:36

If there is a tumble dryer then you can do washing in 3x10 seconds. 10 seconds to throw it in the machine and turn it on. 10 seconds to throw it from washer into dryer. 10 seconds to pull out of dryer.
