No washing machine at centreparcs

SuperCaliFragalistic · 26/07/2021 22:39

I'm at centreparcs for a week. Someone else paid for this holiday which I'm very grateful for. However our 4 bed (sleeps 8) Lodge doesn't have a washing machine and there are no laundry facilities on site. I know its a massive rip off anyway, and I know I should have checked the details and packed more stuff, but seriously? Now I'm expected to rinse my knickers in the sink after paying 4k for this this holiday! It takes the piss.

At those prices I'd except my washing done for me! I must love in a completely different world because if I was paying £4K for a week's holiday I'd expect to be somewhere amazing that I'd never been to and have the holiday of a lifetime. £4K for a holiday in a lodge in a forest is baffling.
But, that aside, I would absolutely expect a washing machine on a self catering holiday.

Dixiechickonhols · 26/07/2021 23:06

Surprised no on site laundrette. They have them at all Disney resorts/universal Studios in Florida - very smart laundry rooms with credit card operated machines. I often do a wash or two.

Lucked · 26/07/2021 23:11

Have a look on the revolution laundry website and see if there is a handy location. It only takes 30mins so quicker than popping home if close.

DespairingHomeowner · 26/07/2021 23:11

@SuperCaliFragalistic

I'm only an hour from home. I'm tempted to pop home (leave the kids with my mum) one evening and collect more clothes. But I realise this is probably mad.

I've never stayed in a holiday home before that didn't have a washing machine and they've always been used after beach trips, night time accidents and just to avoid packing too much.

If you’re that close, you might as well vs wasting time & money looking for laundry facilities/buying new clothes …
MountainDweller · 26/07/2021 23:13

Doesn't sound like an unreasonable expectation to me - our tiny one-up one-down holiday cottage two years ago had a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine!

MountainDweller · 26/07/2021 23:14

Sorry to clarify... not unreasonable to expect some kind of laundry facilities (and we paid 50€ a night...)

SusannahSophia · 26/07/2021 23:15

Longest certainly used to have a launderette on site next to Le Grand Café. I’ve spent a bored hour or two there before now when DS3 was a baby with reflux. Staying for a week I didn’t have enough muslins so had to do a midweek wash. I reckon they built some more accommodation there. Same size pool but twice as many guests as 20 years ago.

Sorry, no help to you now, but, tbh, I’d rather pack more clothes than sit in a launderette during my holiday.

PrincessNutella · 26/07/2021 23:15

I would expect laundry machines at a holiday home. There are all kinds of reasons why people would want them. I think it's miserable not to have a washing machine and dryer at a place one is staying for a week.

Kralia · 26/07/2021 23:15

At 4k a week I'd expect the clothes washed ironed and folded for me. I had no idea how much Centreparks cost - properly bonkers. I get this year that everyone is taking whatever they can get, but how do they get away with it in a normal year when you could fly a family of 4 to Thailand for less than that?!!

Megan2018 · 26/07/2021 23:16

We use cloth nappies, so we don’t go to centre parcs. It’s ridiculous to have no facilities onsite.

Benjispruce5 · 26/07/2021 23:16

I’d expect a washing machine and a butler for that price! What a rip off!!

Me too. We had a very specific reason for booking it this year realted my extended family and I'd never considered it previously. I'm sure it will still be fun, even with my pants turned inside out for the second half of the week.

I frequent a small caravan site in Devon, nothing fancy, sea views and rentals of £5/700 pw in summer. Laundry room on site . It’s a beaux requirement IMO.

Benjispruce5 · 26/07/2021 23:18

Basic not beaux

LittleBearPad · 26/07/2021 23:23

It is frustrating.

Embracelife · 26/07/2021 23:23

It s 142 per bed room per night
So a medium expensive hotel room
A premier inn room can cost 100 per night in summer in some places

Some Hotels do laundry but expensive

saraclara · 26/07/2021 23:24

I've never had a holiday cottage/apartment without a washing machine, nor been to a holiday park without a launderette.

I'd expect CP to at least have the latter, and it wouldn't occur to me to ask because of the above, and the fact it costs an arm and a leg.

Jeeze, even the tiny and exceptionally basic campsite we stayed on had a washer in an outbuilding.

Figgyboa · 26/07/2021 23:25

Pack appropriately for a one week holiday.

Sadiecow · 26/07/2021 23:29

I'm with you OP, a family based holiday and no washing machine?

Ridiculous

Evenstar · 26/07/2021 23:32

There definitely used to be a laundrette at Elvedon, I used it once when mine were small, it must have been an emergency of some kind as I seldom do laundry on holiday.

TonytheDog · 26/07/2021 23:34

SuperCaliFragilistic in that case maybe just slide into your inner slob while silently mumbling 'this cost £4 fucking grand and I'm wearing yesterday's knickers'. Or, go swimming in the 'free (£4K) pool wearing anything that needs washing.

Longdistance · 26/07/2021 23:36

I would expect a washing machine. It’s a basic in a holiday home/lodge. It’s all very well saying pack knickers or clothes for the seven days. We all know your dc will roll in the mud and get covered and I’ll end up with food on my top. £4K is ridiculous for that. Complete rip off. I paid £5k for two weeks, all inclusive to Barbados about two years ago. Fuck that!

IsobelEd · 26/07/2021 23:37

I'm astonished that there is no laundrette at CP! What an oversight for a family holiday camp!

MySecretHistory · 26/07/2021 23:37

@SnarkyBag

How odd to expect a washing machine at centre parks! Even odder not to pack enough pants for a week they hardly take up a lot of room!
You get a washing machine in most lodges and mobile home these days
SuperCaliFragalistic · 26/07/2021 23:38

Instead of relaxing on the patio with a gin I'll spend the evenings washing my 6 year old's skiddy pants.
