No washing machine at centreparcs

SuperCaliFragalistic · 26/07/2021 22:39

I'm at centreparcs for a week. Someone else paid for this holiday which I'm very grateful for. However our 4 bed (sleeps 8) Lodge doesn't have a washing machine and there are no laundry facilities on site. I know its a massive rip off anyway, and I know I should have checked the details and packed more stuff, but seriously? Now I'm expected to rinse my knickers in the sink after paying 4k for this this holiday! It takes the piss.

So Whst do you do if you make cups of tea or glasses of wine in the lodge ? Don’t just rinse and use the same cups ? What if you prepare food ? Do you not wash dishes ? Also same point about cleaning surfaces , why would you not wipe down surfaces after using them ?

I’ve never had a holiday in a lodge. We obviously wash cups and glasses but we eat all meals out. The kitchen in a holiday cottage is basically untouched apart from drinks. We treat it like a hotel but without the pain of sharing it with other people.

Benjispruce5 · 27/07/2021 19:08

We eat in and out. It’s called self catering for a reason.

TinkleTongs · 27/07/2021 19:22

Fwiw , in regards to the original post about washing machine , I wouldn’t stay in a lodge / cottage / self catering accommodation without a washer dryer now.

It’s so handy , saves taking lots of dirty clothes home.

One load can be done on quick wash one hour then tumble dried or hung out ( most holiday places we stay have garden rotary driers ) .

SuperCaliFragalistic · 27/07/2021 19:23

Update! Day 2 of 7 and DD has dyed her hair blue at the ends thus ruining one of our pool towels. She has also been for a run necessitating a full change of clothes. DS has worn the same tshirt and shorts as yesterday so he's obviously the memo. Have agreed I'm going to pop home before our next pool session and grab clean towels and an extra bag of fresh clothes.

Loving the people who are aghast at my holiday habits, particularly the people who are angry that I would dare to criticise a "free" holiday. Someone in my family paid for it (I don't need to explain why) but surely I can express my views about the facilities on an anonymous forum? I will of course not complain to my wealthy benefactor at all.

I suppose CP should be grateful your DD didn't ruin one of their white towels

Florrieboo · 27/07/2021 21:09

I haven't read the whole thread but I have seen in the past that CP don't have laundry services because they don't want laundry hanging around outside drying. It doesn't look good apparently. Similar to the way lots of appartments don't allow laundry on balconies.

cadburyegg · 27/07/2021 21:17

The maximum we have stayed there is 4 nights and I’ve never had an issue with taking enough clothes.

I think CP originally advertised itself as a “short getaway” place and 3-4 nights was the maximum stay for awhile. I’m pretty sure staying for longer wasn’t possible until recently. That might explain why there aren’t laundry facilities

Sleepyquest · 27/07/2021 21:19

Who wants to do washing whilst on holiday!? Surely you could have taken enough clothes and towels to see you through. Not like there's a weight limit on your baggage!!

I chuck a load in the machine every morning and then on the line/in the dryer. I’m hardly taking down to the riverbank to bash it on the rocks.
ineedaholidaynow · 27/07/2021 21:37

I wonder how many men complain that there isn't a washing machine in the lodge?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/07/2021 21:38

Never in my life have I done washing on a holiday!

Literally every one I know who holidays in the UK. Why wouldn't you when there is a washing machine there?
Blossomtoes · 27/07/2021 21:56

Because I don’t want to. It’s not a holiday if I’m just doing the shit I do at home. The entire point of a holiday is that you get a reprieve from it. No washing machine has been troubled anywhere we’ve stayed.

The only "men" on this holiday are age 7 and 6. I imagine if my DC's dad had taken them away for a week he too would be flummoxed by the lack of a washing machine as there is no way he would have packed enough of everything.

And I do. As do any others. I go home and put all my washing away straight out of the holdall. It's fab.

But the washing doesn't stop accumulating- you just do it when you get home instead. Plus you have to pack more stuff, which by my calculations makes more work overall.

My dp would be as equally pissed off at the lack of washer.

We like clean clothes too, we also like our children to wear clean clothes.
woodhill · 27/07/2021 22:04

I'm amazed there is no laundry facilities. I always do my washing on holiday.

HelloDulling · 27/07/2021 22:07

Even if you don’t wash clothes, do you take enough beach towels for multiple pool/ beach days? I’d hate to reuse a towel for a whole week, and there are 4 of us. Buggered if I’m taking 12 beach towels ( as well as 28 full outfits for day, and 28 full outfits for evening).

woodhill · 27/07/2021 22:12

Yes Warminster is a funny place but great Waitrose

It’s still the same amount of washing whenever you do it. 🤷‍♀️ It doesn’t take any longer to pack seven pairs of knickers than two!

Exactly! Madness
