Brioche buns with burgers...

Why oh why has every pub, restaurant, and street food vendor decided that burgers should now be served in brioche buns?

Brioche does not go with burgers! Burgers are savory and brioche is like cake!

Did the Uk get a load of brioche in our Brexit deal or something?

I agree. Brioche is a sweet bread.

ConkerBonkers · 18/07/2021 12:30

Brioche is a lot better. I made burgers for a playdate and they were declared by the kids the best burgers they had ever tasted, so something must be going right with the brioche burger combo!

knittingaddict · 18/07/2021 12:30

I prefer a brioche bun. They are lighter than a bread roll and tastier. Not too big either.

YABU.

I have mixed feelings about it. I do like them and it works for me (but then I add figgy jam to my burger too 😂), but it's also been done to death. It's often the only rolls you can buy or only option. I can see why some people wouldn't like it, it's a bit like pineapple on pizza.

@Dontsayyouloveme

tartanblanketdog have you tried the gourmet burger from M&S?!!
I second that.

I think it's called the Best Ever and it is. At least of the supermarket ones.

JourneyToThePlacentaOfTheEarth · 18/07/2021 12:55

Absolutely love brioche buns with my burger but very happy with plain buns too. I just love a burger!

bunnytheegghunter · 18/07/2021 13:21

I agree! I hate the brioche buns and really long for a normal bun, hopefully this brioche fad will fade soon!

Cherrysoup · 18/07/2021 13:28

So wrong! Saying that, I just aw Nigella eating ice cream that she’d squidged in a brioche bun. 🤮

ohthatbloodycat · 18/07/2021 13:30

My kids would agree with you, OP!

PattyPan · 18/07/2021 13:35

Just had our groceries delivered complete with stuff for a bbq later. Wholemeal buns only here!

Oblomov21 · 18/07/2021 13:41

I don't like brioche and now every place seems to do it.

asprinklingofsugar · 18/07/2021 13:50

YABU - brioche buns with burgers are delicious!

Okbye · 18/07/2021 13:53

I dont mind the flavour but I hate brioche buns because they turn into mush within 2 seconds of picking up damn things and you end up with sauce all over your hands 😡

badlydrawncat · 18/07/2021 14:28

So at last Boris Johnson Marie-Antoinette got her way 😄
C'est un non pour moi

mrsbyers · 18/07/2021 15:57

I’m a fellow brioche burger bun hater

Grapewrath · 18/07/2021 15:59

Brioche is gross- so eggy and doesn’t go nice with burgers at all imo

HaroldMeeker · 18/07/2021 16:08

Brioche with savoury stuff is revolting to me. I always tell pubs how disappointed I am that they don't offer an alternative, like a plain burger bun. Its not hard - offer a choice ffs.

StevieNix · 18/07/2021 16:26

I agree, I hate brioche buns! Too sweet but the thing I dislike the most is the texture. They start of tasting stale and then they go soggy.

VolcanicEruption · 18/07/2021 16:59

As DH doesn’t like BBQs yesterday I did burgers 🍔 in baps from the butcher .
I partly cooked in grill in microwave then finished in normal grill and had with french fry chips.
Left fans on and back door open though.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 18/07/2021 19:37

I had my burger today in a brioche bun (as I do) with mixed salad, basil, tomato slices, mustard, garlic mayo, brie & 2 onion rings.
it was delicious

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 18/07/2021 19:41

I like brioche!

The absolute worst thing is a crusty roll, that shatters when you bite into it and then gouges bloody furrows into the roof of your mouth.

goose1964 · 18/07/2021 19:45

Just disgusting, why have a sweet bun with a savoury filling. Luckily I rarely eat burgers when out.

RaspberryRipplesofLard · 18/07/2021 19:57

Totally agree, no need for it at all. You wouldn’t stuff a burger in a doughnut or a fairy cake in the middle of a Cornish pasty. Tsk.

Shade17 · 18/07/2021 20:11

You wouldn’t stuff a burger in a doughnut

Erm, yes you would! You can get burgers served in a sliced Krispy Kreme original glazed donuts. Not had one yet but on my list.

Shade17 · 18/07/2021 20:13
