Brioche buns with burgers...

Why oh why has every pub, restaurant, and street food vendor decided that burgers should now be served in brioche buns?

Brioche does not go with burgers! Burgers are savory and brioche is like cake!

Did the Uk get a load of brioche in our Brexit deal or something?

I'm with you, it tastes so much better and now this is the only way we serve homemade burgers at home too.

Anyone had a brioche bun with bacon and brown sauce...very very tasty!!

I much prefer brioche with my burgers. I prefer the rolls slightly sweet.

I could not agree more! One of the best burgers I have had in years was in bloody Sainsbury’s cafe as it was served in an actual bread roll. Made of flour and water and salt.

I can't bear Brioche...... it's too eggy and sweet for me.

We had tiger rolls and cheese topped ones from M & S with our BBQ tonight, much nicer.

Totally agree. I think it’s because the shelf life of a brioche bun is a few months whereas an old school bun is a few days. Much easier for restaurants to manage stock. We are being conned.

I agree I don’t like mixing sweet and savoury foods. It is like eating a burger in a cake. I prefer a seeded bun.

I like them, but they do have a tendency to break up and you end up with a fistful of the contents, with mayo or sauce dribbling down your chin between your fingers.

I like brioche and I don’t mind mixing sweet and salty (like chocolate with sea salt), but brioche + burger just doesn’t work for me.

YANBU. I will still eat a burger in a brioche but I wouldn't care if they disappeared.

Totally agree.

It rules out visits to quite a few restaurants, as if they make this terrible choice there is a good chance that a few other dishes are ruined with similar unpalatable combinations.

Sausages on brioche finger rolls are lovely though

I've sometimes been stuck with this when the only alternative is a bun with sesame seeds, as I'm allergic to sesame. I can't say I enjoy it.

10yo DD complained about this very thing when we had burgers for dinner a couple of weeks ago. Back to plain old burger buns for us!

I agree re: pretzel buns. I’ve been to a pub in Wales couple of years ago and they served burgers in pretzel buns 🍔 Much better choice imo.

I love the brioche ones. A yummy burger and a massive dollop of mayonnaise and a fluffy brioche bun . . . perfect
