Why oh why has every pub, restaurant, and street food vendor decided that burgers should now be served in brioche buns?

Brioche does not go with burgers! Burgers are savory and brioche is like cake!

Did the Uk get a load of brioche in our Brexit deal or something?

Brioche burger buns are elite, I believe them to be less heavy, and give it a bit of sweetness! After having brioche I find it very weird to eat a burger without one now.

I’m absolutely with you OP. Brioche is far too sweet to have with a burger (or a hot dog). If I was ruler of the world I’d wipe them from the face of the Earth - hate the things.

OMG I have so often thought of making this OP.

I hate, hate, HATE brioche with burgers. I have no idea where that combo came from. I virtually never have burgers in a restaurant any more. And it's entirely because I don't want them served in what's basically cake.

I'm annoyed every time I see the damn things on a menu. One otherwise nice gastropub near me compound the issue by serving them with sweet potato chips instead of fries. FFS.

I like brioche. I like burgers. I do not like my burgers served in brioche. YANBU.

Can’t stand the combination. I always ask for an alternative roll and have walked out of several restaurants after leaving a message for the manager on a number of occasions.
Brioche should be served with jam.

I like them except they tend to disintegrate which is annoying 🙄

I think the opposite is true, they stay together due to stickiness while a breadier bun can be pulled apart is it’s of low quality

At least its better than the time when pubs thought they were being fancy by putting burgers in ciabatta buns. They were impossible to eat.

The rage against brioche is the same as when really old people moan about ‘frothy coffee’ because they want what they think is normal coffee. Sweet and savoury go together really well, therefore brioche all the way.

Had a burgers tonight from a new takeaway and they came on a sesame seed bun 😍

Even if it wasn't fantastic locally reared beef that made the burgers they would get repeat custom purely for the buns!!

So glad this is not just me. Brioche is gross. Bring back proper buns!

I love brioche buns but not the very sweet kind. I now bake our own using a recipe from Bigger, Bolder Baking. It makes 6 large ones with a small amount of sugar. It asks for 2 tbsp and I add only one. The butter and egg make them fluffy and buttery tasting.

I make the dough in the bread machine and it only takes a minute to shape. I brush with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

I don't like brioche - even if I fancy a burger. If it's on brioche then I will go for something else.

Team brioche here. Dh loves them and we also toast ours. I didn't have a bun with my burger tonight as I am trying to curb my intake of carbs I do prefer a brioche bun

I am astounded! I love burgers in brioche buns. I had one the other day in a sesame seeded brioche bun, it was delicious.

I will be having my bbq burger on a brioche bun tomorrow cause I think it tastes great.

Rest of family having regular seeded baps.

Yet another thing for egg allergy sufferers to navigate. Used to be just asking for a burger without the mayo. Now it's often without the bun too.
