Why oh why has every pub, restaurant, and street food vendor decided that burgers should now be served in brioche buns?

Brioche does not go with burgers! Burgers are savory and brioche is like cake!

Did the Uk get a load of brioche in our Brexit deal or something?

Bloody hate brioche buns for a burger. Its soul destroying when you're looking forward to a greasy burger and they haven't told you it's brioche. I do generally like brioche, just not with a burger or hot dog.

I wonder if brioche buns don't go stale as quickly. I order a naked burger with salad and chips

Pretzel burger buns are much nicer than any of the other choices especially if it's lightly toasted first

I love proper brioche with the extra ball on top!

I’m a convert to brioche but you have to lightly toast them so they don’t fall apart. DS introduced me to them, you can learn a lot from 16yr old boys.

I had one on Thursday in a pub in Manchester and now I’m obsessing about where to buy them!!

Pretzel bun = perfection

Burgers go in sesame seed baps. End of. Won’t order if brioche is offered.

I'm not even a fan of normal burger buns, what's wrong with a normal roll? (i'm in scotland though and we have proper morning rolls not those soft fluffy bap things)

A traditional burger bun is quite sweet too. That's one of the reasons why it's a bun and not a roll.

If you have an aversion to sugar and meat together, American food may not be for you: bacon and syrup, barbecue sauce, pulled pork ...

YANBU OP. It stops me ordering something if the on my option is to have it in a brioche bun. It’s like eating a chicken burger inside an ice bun. 🤮

To all those saying sweet doesn't go with burgers: don't you put ketchup on them? Or some kind of sauce? BBQ sauce? Lots of the sauces are mostly sugar.

Brioche bun and emmental cheese is must in my house with a burger.... Sooo good.

Yanbu, it’s all kinds of wrong. And then they say their vegan burger is in a brioche bun too and I have to check whether the bun is actually vegan, which isn’t a problem for normal bread.

I like brioche, I like burgers, I do not like sweet bread on my greasy meat!😂

I prefer skinny burgers but oven bottom muffins are my go to if I fancy some carbs with it.

For those with exploratory taste buds for something extraordinary - try Taiwanese filled bao, Hong Kong western bakery pineapple buns or Vietnamese baguette sandwiches! Makes a change from the ubiquitous burger and brioche bun although lobster buns are a knock out favourite sandwich too! All of these are best enjoyed with a chilled crisp beer preferably Belgium fruit trappist beer or Witbier white beer (bière blanche) like a classic Hoegaarden etc.
