Why oh why has every pub, restaurant, and street food vendor decided that burgers should now be served in brioche buns?

Brioche does not go with burgers! Burgers are savory and brioche is like cake!

Did the Uk get a load of brioche in our Brexit deal or something?

it's not a new thing and we've always had it at home.

brioche is delicious with savoury stuff. apart from burgers I love it with cream cheese & salmon or parma ham and also with crispy bacon & maple syrup.

Horrible things. I was looking at a holiday menus the other night. Saw ostrich burgers thought oh yes love a good ostrich burger then saw fucking brioche bun. So that’s off the list grrr he’ll give it to me even in a plan old boring rolls that’s fine just no bloody brioche.

Anyone who eats a cake as a burger bun needs their head checking. I agree they are disgusting and one of the main reasons why I refuse to go to any burger place to eat out now. It is, as you said OP, like eating a burger on a slice of cake. Turns my stomach.

Burgers are better with brioche.

I an not a huge fan of any type of burger bun, so ask for a naked burger.

Brioche should be eaten with unsalted butter and apricot jam, or nutella.

I agree OP, but unlike most of the awful recent things about this country, not one I attribute to Brexit. Or even why we have imposed economic/travel sanctions on France this week.

I just find burgers are generally a let down - they go and sound all fabulous on the menu but rarely meet my expectations - I'm just going to boycott them from now on - brioche doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

No what makes it gourmet? I used to even go to extreme attempts of making my own patty mincing combos of rump, brisket and bacon and making a fancy pants Russian dressing - it just never hits the spot - I have good burger memories from a South American chain in Cambridge and a childhood burger joint - I’m always trying to recreate the flavour. I should give up!

brioche usually contsins egg. not great for people with allergies.
