The Italian Captain is a bully!

The Italian Football Captain is a horrible bully.

He should have got a red card for the way he treated Saka pulling his shirt collar and dragging him to the floor.

Also when Italy were against Spain the way he grabbed the Spanish captain persuading him to do penalties on the Italian side.

I can’t stand him. He deserves no praise and his team played dirty!

If you don't even know his name then you probably shouldn't start a thread about Chiellini. Additionally if you don't know the laws of the game you probably shouldn't be questioning the application of said laws.

Chiellini has always been a very physical player and what he did was nothing more than a tactical foul which was appropriately sanctioned with a yellow card. This is not the first, nor the last, time a player will "take one for the team" and knowingly do an action to benefit benefit team, even if they get a yellow card in the process.

If you disagree then I'd love to know which of the laws of the game you would use to justify a red card vs a yellow?

As for the Spain game, they did the coin toss to decide which end to do the shootout and Alba was arguing that he had won and he should decide and Chiellini was (rightly) telling him he was wrong but they did a second toss to keep the peace - Chiellini won that one as well and got his own way and was joking and being overly jovial with Alba to try and jolly him along whole Alba was still sulking.

Giorgio Chiellini is not a bully.
He's an excellent player who's been fantastic for Juventus for years!
And the foul on Chiesa by England was disgraceful. He had to be substituted and Italy weren't even given a free kick.g
You clearly have never watched Serie A football!

Move on..

TabithaTiger · 13/07/2021 15:58

It's very obvious which posters on this thread watch football and which only tuned in to see England in the final!

It was a tactical foul. Happens all the time in football matches at all levels. Our team are great, but Italy played better on the night. That's football.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/07/2021 15:59

Tbf there's a massive difference between this and Zidane's headbutt Hmm Football a non contact sport Grin No.

I agree he's very strong psychologically, did you see his face while his anthem was being booed? He loves every part of the game I'd say. His foul was dreadful. I saw the Jack Grealish foul v differently. To me, Greallish's slide tackle was the problem, I actually thought the free was for that. Will have to rewatch.

Greysofa · 13/07/2021 16:00

🤣🤣🤣 seriously??

Laburnam · 13/07/2021 16:02

The better team end of

FastFood · 13/07/2021 16:04

I am still quite confused as to why it was not a red card. I watched live the head butt from Zidane and cannot understand why this was much different than that, especially as Zidane was provoked and targeted by the other team.

Zidane's head butt happened out of any game movement, neither him nor Materazzi were going for the ball, it was an agression. Provoked, but it isn't the problem. God knows I love Zizou, but what he did was absolutely unacceptable.

SionnachRua · 13/07/2021 16:04

You lost to a better team. Deal with it.

It's going Rome.

Eskarina1 · 13/07/2021 16:04

YANBU.

Italy deserved to win, I'm not griping about the results but that tackle from a 36 year old captain towards a teenager was deeply, deeply unpleasant. Reminded me of watching some England/Argentina games.

DamsonJammyBastard · 13/07/2021 16:07

Yes, he was drinking in all the boos as the anthems were being played. Using it as fuel!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/07/2021 16:08

Absolutely Damson. Drinking it in is spot on.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/07/2021 16:09

I'd love to see any of these lads on a hurling pitch. A shoulder would send them flying and wouldn't even be registered Grin

Abhannmor · 13/07/2021 16:09

Yeah 1966 - did England's 3rd goal really cross the line? I'll just get me coat then...

ElliottSmithsfingers · 13/07/2021 16:12

I'm even more amused at the suggestion that players should treat other players differently if there's an age difference! Think Zidane and Materazzi are of a similar vintage so that was not an issue at least (not that the two are even remotely comparable).

melj1213 · 13/07/2021 16:13

I agree he's very strong psychologically, did you see his face while his anthem was being booed? He loves every part of the game I'd say

Oh definitely - the second the camera panned over him as the England fans were booing the Italian anthem and I saw the little relaxed smirk, you just knew he was in the mood to fuck things up for the "It's coming home" brigade

The Italian Captain is a bully!
Melassa · 13/07/2021 16:13

The Italians were the better team, full stop, not only in this match but in the entire tournament. Also, in terms of playing dirty with dives and fouls the England team were hardly choirboys. There was plenty of useless diving near the penalty box by who would have done better to stay upright and carry on playing.

A petition for a rematch? If there really is one you are embarrassing yourselves.

Mayorquimby2 · 13/07/2021 16:15

OP, you've misspelled champion

tigger1001 · 13/07/2021 16:17
@DamsonJammyBastard a tactical foul..? No it wasn't. This is their place of work, on the pitch, it's a no contact sport and should not have happened.

You're condoning violence.
Non contact???

Have you watched football before?

DamsonJammyBastard · 13/07/2021 16:19

110,000 people have signed the petition. Cringe. The England team would tell those 110K people to get over it and stop making a spectacle of themselves.

TruffleShuffles · 13/07/2021 16:19

Christ if you think that’s a sending off offence we’d never see a match finish 11v11. Chiellini used his vast experience and carried out a cynical foul and took his punishment for it, simple as that.

He was brilliant before the penalty shoot out against Spain, he won it for Italy before a ball was even kicked.

tigger1001 · 13/07/2021 16:19

@DamsonJammyBastard

Diving is also a tactic... see Stirling and the Denmark game

Yep. And Kane, also very fond of a dive.

Yep!!

But funny how that's not seen to be cheating by some.

Abhannmor · 13/07/2021 16:21

I wouldn't thank Kane , Maguire or Grealish to know how to 'open their shoulders ' and bisect the posts.

Cushionsnotpillows · 13/07/2021 16:21

Jesus if you think football is a non contact sport someone better tell all the players! Don't go to a Scottish low league match, you'd combust Grin

Chiellini is a highly experienced and smart player and boy did it show. They smothered England in the second half. Yeah it was a foul but he knew what he could get away with for a yellow.

Cushionsnotpillows · 13/07/2021 16:22

Oh and the only thing that goes down faster than Harry Kane is an ejected pilot without a parachute. It's laughable there's a petition!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/07/2021 16:23

Yes the experience showed, I couldn't believe how hard they worked till that final whistle, kept up the pace and drive etc. The 'old dog' my football living and breathing FB calls him. And apparently he's looked the same age for ever.
