Have you had period oddness since the COVID vaccine?

If you have any kind of changes with your periods following the vaccine, could you take a few minutes to report them (via the admittedly slightly clunky NHS Yellow Card system).

I'm 51 and following my AZ vaccine, had my first bleed in 2 years after menopause.
(And it was pretty horrendous).

If you've experienced any changes to your periods following your vaccine, would you consider reporting?

Many women put up with so much as 'just one of those things' - it would be really helpful to get the true picture.

Thank you.

I had my Pfizer 4 weeks ago and I'm yet to have a period (8 weeks since last period).
I've only ever been late when pregnant and I'm definitely not pregnant right now.
Reported it last week via yellow card scheme - dreading when period finally arrives!

userchange8945 · 23/06/2021 22:22

@Bawdrip absolutely I've bought some for the first time in years. Really sorry you were disappointed, fingers crossed it's not much longer Thanks

Check out this thread too.
I had AZ on 3rd May. Started my period on 20th May. I am on day 35 of constant bleeding since! I have yellow carded.

You must be flippin shattered, @doodlejump1980 - what a nightmare for you.

I had my 2nd Pfizer vaccine probably in the middle of my cycle, period arrived on time. Next one was late! I thought I was pregnant and was panicking. I’m never late.

Regalhen · 23/06/2021 22:24

Yes! No issues with first Pfizer, but I had second vaccine last month. My period came two days after (when I was still feeling fluey), bleeding was horrendous (and I have v heavy periods) and I called 111 in the middle of the night as was soaking a night pad every 15 mins despite taking transemic acid. Then had another period two weeks later and continually spotting since

Incidentally I’ve been referred to hospital for urgent tests and it’s been discovered I have loads of big fibroids so it could be a coincidence - but I’ve never had uncontrolled bleeding with periods or spotted / bled between before and my periods were regular

newusername2009 · 23/06/2021 22:33

I am aware I sound like a crazy but I have had impact on my cycle but it was my husband who had the vaccine and not me.

2 days after he had the pfizer vacinne I bled out of cycle for 7 days. Then when my normal period came I had clots the size of the palm of my hand - this is not normal for me at all.

MattDillonsEyebrows · 23/06/2021 22:34

I've had two periods since my second jab (Pfizer), and both periods were awful. Severe lethargy, incredibly (ridiculously)emotional, first one was 5 days late, second one was 3 days early but the premenstrual times were just awful.

Until now, I didn't make the connection with the jab and I put it down to being 45, assuming it was the start of perimenopause and bought some Menopace.

How do you know if its the vaccine or menopause?

NeverEnoughCats · 23/06/2021 22:34

I have an implanon hormonal implant for my contraception, and haven’t had a period in more than two years (also peri-menopausal - aged 46). Had my AZ jab, shortly followed by a period. I’ve my second jab in a couple of weeks, so we’ll see what happens.

babbaloushka · 23/06/2021 22:36

Mine luckily normal after both doses but well done for those spreading awareness and reporting, is very important everything is logged and monitored.

Nohomemadecandles · 23/06/2021 22:38

I had a random week bleed mid cycle. Put it down to peri but now I'm wondering... AZ

PensionsYes · 23/06/2021 22:41

AZ ... heavy, long period then no period since.

Yes I tested to see if I was pregnant. It’s been 9 weeks without a period now. Has the vaccine pushed me into early menopause??

Tried to report but the yellow card web page kept freezing...

spotcheck · 23/06/2021 22:46

Gosh @newusername2009

Um- you obviously don't need to comment on this, but I wonder if the vaccine sheds through, um.... Bodily fluids, which can then be transferred?

Cityzen74 · 23/06/2021 22:47

Yes I did this. Had AZ and period 7 days late after dose 1 and 13 days late after dose 2. Think is important to report so others can be aware as you say

LaChatte · 23/06/2021 22:47

Not after having the jab but after catching covid, periods all over the shot, gp though I was peri (I'm not, I do however have long covid).

princessandthebaby · 23/06/2021 22:47

Can't believe how many women this is affecting!

itsmellslikepopcarn · 23/06/2021 22:50

Had Pfizer 3 weeks ago. I have always been extremely regular, get PMS of poor mood and breast pain the week leading up to period, followed by a bad stomach and cramps on the day of, but this period has been a breeze! No cramps at all or any pain, and emotionally has been better too. The majority I’ve read has been women experiencing it much worse so I was very pleasantly surprised.

LaChatte · 23/06/2021 22:51

One colegue who hadn't had a period for over 5 years started bleeding after jab, scared her to bits GP ran tests looking for cysts etc. Luckily all clear, very likely due to jab (Pfizer in her case).

DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 23/06/2021 22:51

@MattDillonsEyebrows

If it's unusual for you, it's worth reporting, and also making a GP appointment too.

After the first jab I was having two periods a month for two months, got back to normal just before my second. I had my second last week and on my period again when it should be in two weeks time

DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo · 23/06/2021 22:52

@babbaloushka 👍👍👍👍

Nothing. Zero side effects, AZ, age 42. Not even a sore arm.

ForensicAccountant · 23/06/2021 22:53

It was Covid that did it for me. Had to have two courses of hormones and one of acid tablets to stop the bloodfest. It was before they brought out the vaccine.

soooooooG · 23/06/2021 22:55

Mine started 5 days early last cycle, despite being on the pill. It was shortly after my second Pfizer.

newusername2009 · 23/06/2021 22:55

@spotcheck - that actually makes so much more sense than it just floating across from his body to mine :)

Mulhollandmagoo · 23/06/2021 22:56

@Blankspace4

I’ve just posted a thread on here about my period being unexpectedly 5 days late with no signs it’s going to start, when I’m usually like clockwork. I had my 2nd vaccine a month ago (AZ) so now I’m thinking there could be a link! Worrying. Don’t like it when unexplained things happen to my body.

Will report now via link

Exactly the same here! Ended up being 10 days late, and to be fair had a completely normal period but I'm usually as regular as clockwork.

The plan was to start TTC once I'd had both jabs so 🤞 things sort themselves out any educated guesses on how I work out my fertile/ovulation dates? From my usual cycle or my new one?
