Stardrops & Barkeeper's friend are two cleaning products I wouldn't be without.

Ifixfastjets · 15/06/2021 21:42

And teen ds loves the aldi basic (Carlos?) Frozen pizza. About 67p each I think

Lidl hazelnut chocolate bar, not the one with chopped up hazelnut, there is a whole nut one that has SO MANY hazelnuts and it is so much nicer than Cadbury Wholenut.

Lidl Freeway diet cola cans. I've been a diet coke addict for years and I actually prefer this to Diet Coke.

Wilko paint. My house is painted in Farrow and Ball, Lick, Johnstone's trade paint, Little Greene, Wickes own and out of them all Wilko paint is by far the easiest to work with and the most pigmented and long lasting and some brilliant shades. They have an ultra matt range too. Johnstone's is a close second (not the high street Johnstone's) and they told me in the shop that the trade paint is made at the same supplier as Wilko which if true doesn't surprise me.

Dove bar soap. Why buy expensive eco brands of solid soap, or plastic bottled shower gels and liquid soap when this has no plastic packaging and does everything and is so cheap. It smells amazing and is very moisturising too.

Randominternetbitch · 15/06/2021 21:56
  • Yes to Branston’s beans, Heinz is a watery artificial tasting mess
  • Aldi premium washing up liquid - far superior to Fairy Liquid
  • Morrisons tomato passata - lovely thick consistency, smooth and sweet tasting and a fraction of the price of the Napolina one
  • Elbow Grease - agree it’s magic but does anyone else struggle with the fumes?
  • Asda Fat Free Vinaigrette Dressing is yummy
  • Odd inclusion but hear me out: Anadin Extra for migraines - after years of taking various triptans and co-codamol that barely took the edge of the pain, I accidentally discovered that Anadin Extra kills mine 3 years ago and it’s literally changed my life. At £1 for 8 from the Poundshop, it beats the price of an nhs prescription.
BikeRunSki · 15/06/2021 21:57

M&S school shoes. Cheaper than Clark’s and much longer lasting.

Depechemodebiggestfan · 15/06/2021 22:04

Budgens have amazing ready meals. I love Pasta and Bacon bake. So yummy!
I used to buy M&S ones but no more.
Also Sainsbury’s Italian ready meals are lovely.

championthewonderhorse70 · 15/06/2021 22:22

@Vicliz24

Wilko Essence brow mascara cheap as chips and bloody lovely . Ditto Collection felt too eyeliner, stays pug all day . Aldi q-10 serum and cream . Home bargains candles. Also their dog Pooh bags on a roll . Definitely Elbow Grease I use it for everything, it even removed red lipstick from a white plimsoll.
How do you get lipstick on your shoes?
Livpool · 15/06/2021 22:23

Nicky toilet paper

Nsky · 15/06/2021 22:25

Love rice pasta, any brand nicer than gluten free but is.

Love bio d stuff, use their washing liquid as shampoo fab, no colours or crap too, far better than their rivals Ecover and cheaper

Helenluvsrob · 15/06/2021 22:29

Aldi ancient grains sliced load.

Aldi tonic

Aldi tinned cherry tomatoes. Seriously lush.

fabulous01 · 15/06/2021 22:29

Following. Love this thread

VerySmileySarah · 15/06/2021 22:38

I had a ceiling fan from Argos that cost £35 about a decade ago which was fab. It finally packed up & I treated myself to a £150 one, which is rubbish & noisy so no good for the night.

Iris27 · 15/06/2021 22:43

Agree with aldi tonic, particularly the mini cans!

Also aldis barista instant coffee is the best I've tried. Won't use anything else now.

Oat milk from the milkman, cheaper than oatly barista and just as nice... And more sustainable!

Iris27 · 15/06/2021 22:45

Oh and second St moritz fake tan mousse! So easy to apply, no horrid smell, natural colour and cheap as chips!

RickOShay · 15/06/2021 22:47

The tesco £1 candles are good, I’ve got the mango and pineapple one at the moment, it’s not amazing, but for a pound it’s pretty good. You can actually smell it.

NeedWineNow · 15/06/2021 22:49

Branston baked beans - my mum got me on these. Much better than Heinz.

Tesco own loo roll

Aldi Rejuvelate day and night creams. Comparable to L'Oreal which I used to use, and so much cheaper.

Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner

Yes to Pink Stuff and also Astonish products

Tesco own brand bleach - a bargainous 39p a bottle

Own brand paracetamol and ibuprofen - never buy branded painkillers - similarly Galpharm Hayfever tablets from Boots, so much cheaper than branded.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 15/06/2021 22:50

Totally agree with Superdrug Vitamin E range.
Tesco do a hair serum for around a pund which is just as good as any branded. I have long, very thick hair so get through a fair bit and its great value.
Lidl Cien Lip Balm is very good.
Avon Glimmer stick eyeliner pencils are excellent, particularly like the grey and khaki shades for a daytime look.

ouchmyfeet · 15/06/2021 23:08

Waitrose's own brand skincare (Pure) is lovely and cheap as chips

scrivette · 15/06/2021 23:10

Lidl tins of Gin and Tonic with grapefruit are fantastic, as are their packets of fake Twix which I think are better than the real thing.

Nivea Soft is amazing and so cheap. I suffer from dry skin and some of it at night time sorts it out by the morning. It's good as hand cream too and smells lovely.

Serin · 15/06/2021 23:11

Fabulosa imitation zoflora products, smell amazing and same antibacterial action.

Aldi ancient grains bread.

Lidl dark chocolate and raspberry "Magnums".

Waitrose essentials breaded chicken fillets.

atomicnotsoblonde · 15/06/2021 23:13

Aldi's aperol 'aperini' is even better than aperol, it's a smidge less sweet and is all the better for it.
