  1. A strong and loving marriage or relationship
  2. Gorgeous kids
  3. Financially stable with lots of extra left over
  4. Close family and friends
  5. Fantastic and high paying job.

A couple of things OP

  1. I have those things on the list and it is fvcking exhausting. To much to do, not enough space to breath, a bloody battle to get to this point.
  1. For the vast majority of women this is not the reality and the odds are fundamentally stacked against them ever getting to that point. It takes luck, privilege, access and graft.

@shivawn

Yeah I know plenty women with all that. I have it a myself minus the kids (one on the way though).

I genuinely don't get the point of this thread?

I have the things the OP listed, including a child, who is pretty gorgeous, though challenging in his own gorgeous way, and I know lots of other people of both sexes who do -- but I don't think any of us would think of this as 'it all', like it's the acme of human existence.

The answer is no:
I have all you mentioned above however you have missed off the list:
-permanently clean and tidy home ( no time and husband not pulling his weight)

  • stress free life (constantly stressed by work and the pressures of a very well paid career)
  • Time to spend with said 'gorgeous kids' (although better in lock-down as I don't have to travel so much for work)
  • Time and energy to go shopping and spend the 'left over cash' ( I usually collapse in the evenings with a large G&T)
  • Time for anything else .........

I think a 9-4 job very close to your home is hugely different to a 9-6 job with an hour commute.

Of course & the main reason we are cramped as moving further out = bigger commute.

Based on your points above I would say yes I have all of that. But it depends on what your individual view of what 'having it all' means.

I think it's missing other things though like being stress-free, having enough time to yourself and overall well-being.

IME, something has gotta give. So despite ticking all the boxes you shared, I really don't believe you can have it all.
