Penis-haver

AIBU to start referring to all men as penis-hackers (inspired by the absurd NHS policy re people who menstruate thread)?
Hi, here’s my penis-haver X who I’m married to, my penis-haver friend Y and I was assaulted by a penis-haver paediatrician?

defy gender stereotypes and expectations,

To be fair, that's more what non-binary people think they're doing. Trans is about living the full gender stereotypes (as one born the opposite sex) to your best ability.

lottiegarbanzo · 15/04/2021 22:14

If the point of 'cervix haver', 'menstruator' and so on is to address all and only those people who currently possess that organ or perform that bodily function, then surely every organ and function not possessed or performed by all (adult) people must be singled out and described accordingly. For example:

'Possessor of a masculine vascular system' (more prone to heart attacks). Could be shortened to masci-vasci. 'Are you masci-vasci or femi-vasc?'

'Neuro-fem' or 'neuro-hom' would help doctors look out for the right presentation of neuro-diverse conditions.

And so on.

People, especially those who've had any alterations done, including surgery to remove diseased organs etc will end up having to describe ourselves in terms reminiscent of American coffee shop orders. 'Well, I'm a cervix-having, non-menstruating, fem-breasted, femi-vasc, neuro-fem, osti-myelo-fem, extenda-oestrogenated person'. That's a post-menopausal woman on HRT.

@BrumBoo

For those confused:

www.nhs.uk/conditions/cervical-screening/

'Cervix havers'

www.nhs.uk/conditions/prostate-cancer/

'Only men have prostates'

Rather unfair to the prostate owners who are now... living in 'girl mode' was it?

Weird, all I can fine on the cervical screening page is All women and people with a cervix. what section says cervix haver?

“Those in need of a penis beaker” (that’ll confuse the newbies 😉)

😂😂😂

BrumBoo · 15/04/2021 22:19

@slashlover, I was paraphrasing. More to the point, the adequate information is female - girls have a cervix as well, though just 'women' is passable. 'People' do not not have a cervix, that is a biological impossibility.

It's quite clearly stated on the prostate cancer one that only men have a prostrate though. No 'men and prostate owners' there.

HopeClearwater · 15/04/2021 22:22

more what non-binary people think they're doing

Indeed. As far as I can see, a lot of non-binary people are doing nothing more than adopting some kind of unisex name eg Alex, and then dressing like someone from the 80s. Haven’t seen a lot of challenging of stereotypes going on. Oh and they mention that they are non-binary A LOT.

AgathaAllAlong · 15/04/2021 22:22

Can someone link to where this has changed? On the cervical cancer link I too only see "All women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64 should be invited by letter." which seems fine to me.

R0wantrees · 15/04/2021 22:27

Women are human beings who are female sex. There are no other people with cervices which need to be screened.

I like Those With Exterior Ovaries as a throwback to their humble beginnings in a woman womb-haver.

It probably would be fine if mens health were treated equally. It is not. Women's health information is being edited. To either remove the word woman or to bring in additional terms.

I am all for being inclusive, but it's really important to be clear. It's shocking how many women don't know what a cervix is of if they have one. It needs to be clearly targeted at women.

Sex matters, especially in medicine.

I would say, this example, while irritating (especially in contrast to the prostate link), in terms of the erasure of the term 'women' it's pretty mild.

I think the problem lies with the alternate version.... “All men and people with a prostate aged 60 and over should be invited by letter”. Who exactly are the “people” with a prostrate ?

It’s not women because we don’t have them. But the all trans women are women lobby would say that’s transphobic.

Blue4YOU · 15/04/2021 22:41

Oh I’m very happy I’ve started this thread!!
I was trying to get better at this..

“The spermatozoa creating and sometimes effusing person who often has a sense of entitlement attached to the productive organs.”

Alternatively, since women are ‘non-men’, how about:

Non-women
Clitless
Unfannied

No, that's what any woman who has a job, financial independence and an opinion is doing.

Boner owner has mightily amused me but I must of course point out that it’s non-inclusive of those bollock brandishers who suffer from erectile dysfunction.
