They are keeping Andrew out the way, arent they?

On the bbc news, 3 out 4 of the queen's children wished to say something in tribute to their father...

Andrew is obviously been kept on the back burner. They must know there's only so much the less fawning of us can take.

He's not under house arrest!

He's also not under any obligation to indulge press requests for comment. It's a measure of his arrogance that he did.

Sparklingbrook · 11/04/2021 20:52

He just spoke about his father's death etc, is it what was said or the fact he said anything at all that's the problem?
If Prince Edward had said the same that presumably would have been ok?

Why is it arrogance? He's PP Son, it directly affects him, is supposed never to speak again?
Alsohuman · 11/04/2021 21:05

is supposed never to speak again?

Apparently. Most of MN thinks he should be hanged, drawn and quartered.

ImpatiensI · 11/04/2021 21:14

@Alsohuman and convicted when he hasn't actually been charged with anything yet.

Even he can't be unaware of how low his public stock has dipped. He's been forcibly retired from public life. A better question might be why he wants to speak again.

If he'd walked away or said no comment no doubt that would have been wrong as well. I can just imagine the posts on MN saying he was too arrogant to speak to the press!

It would have kept this pleb happy...

Sparklingbrook · 11/04/2021 21:24

Because his Father has just died and he wanted to say some nice words about him?

I expect he hopes it will eventually blow over. And he's talking about his Father which he's entitled to do if media are asking.
CathyorClaire · 11/04/2021 21:32

Maybe. But a micro-appearance sharing his rather maudlin thoughts may not hinder his reported rehab hopes either.

Maudlin thoughts? FFS his father has just died, what was he supposed to do, a song and dance? I get that you don't like him (and neither do it) but at least accept that he's just lost a parent and wanted to pay tribute.
Sparklingbrook · 11/04/2021 21:37

It's gone from him having 'a platform' to a 'micro appearance'. And saying his thoughts were maudlin, well that happens when you have just lost a parent.

Cactus1982 · 11/04/2021 21:39

I was just thinking that I don’t want to see this cunt on my TV. No one wants to see him or hear what he has to say.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/04/2021 21:40

I agree @Sparklingbrook. When I lost my parents I probably sounded pretty maudlin to people like that. No matter how prepared you think you are, you realise when it happens that actually you weren't prepared.

Alsohuman · 11/04/2021 21:59

Maudlin thoughts? There really are some nasty pieces of work here tonight. Did Twitter get too nice for you?

Agreed. I'm sick of it
Babygotblueyes · 11/04/2021 22:13

We are still funding him, arent we?

BeenAsFarAsMercyAndGrand · 11/04/2021 22:16

Andrew was just shown on BBC news. He's not being hidden in the slightest.

He (and the rest of them tbh) has no shame.

@Sparklingbrook

Yes. Prince Edward isn't wanted for questioning in connection with sex trafficking crimes against minors. It may be a small distinction, but I think it's an important one.
Sparklingbrook · 11/04/2021 22:23

Right so PA is not allowed to talk about anything at all. You best tell him in that case.

Well they are not going to, are they?
BeenAsFarAsMercyAndGrand · 11/04/2021 22:28

Prince Andrew is a piece of shit. I dont expect decency from him.

I am more pissed off that our state broadcaster put him on the news. Why do they give him the oxygen of publicity? Why are they helping to rehabilitate him in the eyes of the public?

BeenAsFarAsMercyAndGrand · 11/04/2021 22:30

A man who has spent several months failing to cooperate in a sex trafficking investigation is not someone whose grief I am interested in. He can think and say what he likes, but I don't want to hear anything from him, and I imagine many others feel the same.

ImpatiensI · 11/04/2021 22:31

You don't have to like or respect him in any way to give him some slack over his father's death.

Just personally, I don't like him I think him grubby and sleazy but I wouldn't want anyone I cared about to be handed over to the FBI after what happened to Epstein in prison. The US authorities are not trustworthy at all.
