They are keeping Andrew out the way, arent they?

On the bbc news, 3 out 4 of the queen's children wished to say something in tribute to their father...

Andrew is obviously been kept on the back burner. They must know there's only so much the less fawning of us can take.

@hopeishere AFAIK Charles wasn't involved with the Epstein thing, but I was referring to his support of Peter Ball - yet another convicted child sex offender - for which he was officially criticised

There are any number of other deeply dubious types too, and these are just the ones we know about: Laurens van der Post, Jimmy Savile, Michael Fawcett and even Mountbatten, though again AFAIK none of those had been convicted of anything at the time he was extending his princely friendship

I'm no admirer of Andrew, as countless posts attest, but It's a matter of enduring fascination to me that everyone leaps upon his many appalling behaviours while hardly ever commenting on his brother's - and after all Andrew isn't the future king

Hence my remarks about Charles perhaps welcoming the distraction

Pedallleur · 27/04/2021 11:31

he's back. The old man is dead so let's cracking - but wait! What could be wrong?

Roussette · 27/04/2021 12:10

Puzzled Yes, Charles is remarkably teflon like.

Bubblebu · 27/04/2021 12:10

Puzzle

yes Charles is just as bad (in different ways) IMHO.

viques · 27/04/2021 12:23

@Roussette

viques I wonder if that will happen. Is there any reason why they actually need to get married again. Interesting one...
Well if he wants to reinvent himself as the new “nations favourite grandfather” - apparently there’s a vacancy - a nations favourite grandma on his arm wouldn’t harm.

He’s already blatantly used the day out in Woking chilling’ and having’ pizza with my gurlz alibi to make himself sound like a respectable family man, he might want to to revise his position as the only unmarried member of the RF.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/04/2021 12:43

He might want to to revise his position as the only unmarried member of the RF

Not quite, viques; to borrow that excellent MN phrase, "other RF members are available" courtesy of the latest batch of divorces

Okay so Peter Philips and David Linley might not have quite the same pizazz (?) but I don't suppose they're living in penury - and AFAIK they don't have a taste for befriending convicted peadophiles

Roussette · 27/04/2021 13:10

Yes, the RF have a remarkably high record of divorces!

Who'd have Andrew apart from Sarah... who writes the most nauseating guff about him.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/04/2021 13:29

Who'd have Andrew apart from Sarah

Who indeed? Even those who'd do a lot for the lifetsyle have clearly swerved him, and it's hard to blame them

I'd be amazed if they ever do remarry though - why would they, when Andrew's untouchable anyway and Sarah can enjoy the baubles but still fly under the radar of the grey suits by insisting she's no longer a member of the family so "the rules don't apply"?

DuncinToffee · 27/04/2021 13:35

Apparently, The Crown is struggling to cast the role of PA in fifth series

Roussette · 27/04/2021 13:49

I read something about The Crown and this!

Interesting that Charles has taken over from Andrew the patronage of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. It's pretty obvious to me that once the Queen dies, there will be no hope of Andrew coming back into the fold when Charles is in charge.

Andrew needs to make the most of the time he has.

SelkieIntegrated · 27/04/2021 14:02

He only has himself to blame.

Bubblebu · 27/04/2021 14:13

Surely the only thing Prince Andrew ever did in his life is (i) as a much younger man exist as the extremely over spoilt and pampered mummy's favourite whilst shagging all the skirt within sight with impunity because everyone in royal circles told him he was handsome; and (ii) once he started pushing the slightly older age bracket had the most cliched of mid life crisis by surrounding himself with people who could provide underage girls to him.
I really do not know what else he has done.

Shagged Sarah Furgeson and produced two "princesses".

Unless I have missed something his life is really the biggest question mark for the whole institution.

He did take part in armed combat. According to reports over at Arrse he was actually in the line of fire. Apart from that they don't have anything positive to say about him iirc.
Bubblebu · 27/04/2021 18:35

Grim, I did not know that.
Noted.

Kokeshi123 · 02/05/2021 17:28

Fascinating to try and work out where PA gets his particular mix of personality traits from. Can't imagine either of his parents doing anything SO blatantly sleazy. I can only assume that growing up royal tends to distort people's personality in weird ways.
