They are keeping Andrew out the way, arent they?

On the bbc news, 3 out 4 of the queen's children wished to say something in tribute to their father...

Andrew is obviously been kept on the back burner. They must know there's only so much the less fawning of us can take.

I just find the hypocrisy around andrew unbelievable and the way he is being sheilded from answering to anything. If he went to the USA and answered the questions they must want him to answer, no one would go on about him here. He'd either be found innocent or guilty and be dealt with. But this seemingly hiding behind his mother just smacks of royal privilege taken to the extreme. Im sure he is as upset as his dad dying as anyone else, but he cant be seen in similar circumstances as his siblings as the RF know how the public are disgusted at everything to do with Epstein and want Andrew to be honest and treated like anyone else would be. The fact he comes across terribly pompous and entitled only adds to the sense if injustice. And if he is totally innocent, why isn't he doing all he can to clear his name?

I can imagine the likes of Sophie cant stand him, as she seems to genuinely love Phillip and the queen and must hate the distress andrew has caused them.

'just find the hypocrisy around andrew unbelievable and the way he is being sheilded from answering to anything. If he went to the USA and answered the questions they must want him to answer,'

It isn't hypocrisy it is the judicial process! we don't find people guilty based on gossip. It is evidence that is needed.

Who tf would go to the US! The FBI are more than able to fly here and question him if they have the evidence.

So let's stop calling him a nonce or a paedo until we have proof.

Crystal90567 · 11/04/2021 09:25

In the 80s and indeed on mumsnet, many people reminisce about this, it was usual for 15/16yos to be sexually active.
Just look at the 'when did you lose your virginity' threads for example.
In the 2010s my daughter was 14, 15, 16, 17. During these years I had no end of hassle from my friends about how 'at her age' they were clubbing, going to gigs, festivals, had boyfriends, (sexually active), wouldn't be seen dead with their parents. My daughter loved being at home, had a few friends but didn't do the above. This proves the culture is still there.
Prince Andrew put his arm around a 17 year old in a time when most 14yos were going out with 25yos. The rank hypocrisy is ridiculous.

That pesky red tape eh? Evidence and that. There might be some there might not but trial by MN has strange rules.

It is bizarre it really is, why is it being dragged out, why don't the FBi come here?! He's said he'll assist in enquiries but he'd mad to go there. They'd lock him up for 2 years in a high security prison while they then looked for evidence.

Prince Andrew, so far guilty of associating with a convicted sex offender, but far far worse than that.. he is white and privileged.

ssd · 11/04/2021 09:30

I didnt call him a nonce or a peodo.

Also, i think there must be a bit more to it than him putting his arm around a 17 yr old girl....although didn't he say that wasn't his arm?

Can i just ask the posters sort of sticking up for him, do you believe he being treated unfairly?

OP posts:
Foo2 · 11/04/2021 09:31

Him never being charged with anything is probably in no small part due to him refusing to cooperate with the US authorities (as he said he would), and the ring of protection thrown around him. Will be interesting to see what, if anything, Ghislaine has to say.

Twoobles · 11/04/2021 09:32

I’m glad they’re keeping him out of public sight. I’d prefer for his privileged arse to be dragged to the US to be questioned and then convicted, but if he’s locked away then at least it’s something.

It does look bad. If they believed he was innocent I don’t think they’d do this. I think they know what he is and what will eventually come out, so they’re not going to taint the memory of the Duke, especially when Ghislane’s court case is surely not too long away. It must be in the next year or two.

Sparklingbrook · 11/04/2021 09:34

I do feel that if there was a trial and he was not found guilty of anything some on here would not be having it. Would all be a fix etc because he’s a Prince.
I’m not sure what the relentless speculation is for and I’m not a particular fan of the royals -any of them really.

Thats unbelievable. You really think people dislike him more because he is white and privileged, rather than he seems to want to avoid being questioned about his friendship with a pedophile?

Are you for real???

SelkieBeag · 11/04/2021 09:34

@BrilliantBetty

Thank goodness they've kept him out of the way. No one wants him around.
Yes, I want him handed over to the FBI. That's the headline I want to read one day.
Sparklingbrook · 11/04/2021 09:36

Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial is due to start on 12/7.
Put that in your diaries.

SueSaid · 11/04/2021 09:37

'I didnt call him a nonce or a peodo'

Plenty have, on mn and sm on a daily basis.

'Him never being charged with anything is probably in no small part due to him refusing to cooperate with the US authorities'

Why don't they come here to question him then?!

'Can i just ask the posters sort of sticking up for him, do you believe he being treated unfairly?'

Not sticking up for him. If there is evidence that he has had sex with underage trafficked girls then he should of course face the consequences. He hasn't been found guilty, charged or even questioned though has he? He may be found guilty, but Twitter and mn don't get to decide these things.

ssd · 11/04/2021 09:39

I don't agree sb. I'm not a royal fan, but i wouldn't want to see a man, any man, accused of something he's not. If he was found innocent and people still disliked him due to being a prince, thats another thing. But anyone I've seen on here who dislikes him ,to me, dislikes him for his association with epstein. And if it was wholly innocent they'd probably have no feelings for him either way.

A woman said that she was trafficked , aged 17 & that she was forced to have sex with Andrew. It was much more than a picture and no doubt there is much more unsaid. He needs to answer questions in USA.

Sparklingbrook · 11/04/2021 09:41

It would be uproar on here if he was found to be innocent. That is NOT the required result. Maybe not you @ssd but there would be thread after thread.

sashh · 11/04/2021 09:44

Was she 'trafficked'? I didn't know that, even she hasn't said that. She was hired on and off by Ghislane Maxwell on behalf of Geoffrey Epstein and was paid well, she wasn't a slave.

“This is not some sordid sex story. This is a story of being trafficked. This is a story of abuse and this is a story of your guys’ royalty,” Virginia Giuffre on Panorama October 2019.

Ghislane Maxwell is currently awaiting trial for, among other things, trafficking.

Seriously, why do you think she was brought to London?

KarensChoppyBob · 11/04/2021 09:45

C'mon, why would an innocent person with all his access to the best legal defence anyone could wish for, combined with the power to shut the media speculation down when it suits, be avoiding answering questions to the FBI? He's an embarrassment.

So yeah he's on the back burner for now, hope he singes his arse on the ring.

SueSaid · 11/04/2021 09:46

Why not here? Can anyone suggest why the FBI won't come here, liaise with the Met of whoever use one of their questioning facilities to actually question Prince Andrew as witness or a suspect?

There is no chance a witness should have to fly to the US for questioning.

KarensChoppyBob · 11/04/2021 09:47

Also he doesn't even have to go to the US at all to answer their questions, can do so from the UK yet chooses not to 🤔.

Would you prefer to if they didn't, OP?

Or would you complain either way?

'Chooses not to'. Have the FBi actually being in the UK and arrested him or requested he is questioned under caution and he has refused?

His own legal time say he has offered 3 times to submit a witness statement. From the article 'But the duke’s legal team said he had made three offers to give a witness statement'.

CorCordium · 11/04/2021 09:55

If he truly hadn’t done anything, wouldn’t he want to clear his name?

I agree he is being used as a shield for other people but I can’t say I’m hugely sympathetic.

KarensChoppyBob · 11/04/2021 09:56

Anyone who truly believes that his sudden flight and stay with Epstein in NYC - post his sex crimes coming to light-, was anything less than damage limitation are fools.

Why did it have to be face-to-face? No digital trail perhaps?
