Disclaimer: I'm currently catching up and halfway through Series 4, and aware that he may have become shadier in recent times (but don't know the details so no spoilers please!)

I think the fact he's Irish and has a huge line in sarky comebacks definitely helps.

I really hate to use an obvious cliché but Ted could take down my particulars any time.

pinkearedcow · 07/04/2021 14:29

Mother of God!

Ted is fabulous, fella.

pinkearedcow · 07/04/2021 14:32

I find Kate a bit unfathomable somehow. Maybe she'll turn out to be H or the new Caddy! (I am only up to series 5).

Pan2 · 07/04/2021 14:34

Oh dear. Is it a case of...

She was only the constable's daughter, but she let the chief inspector?

HoldontoOneMoreDay · 07/04/2021 14:35

Ooh he could take my particulars any time. I do like grumpy men though, so maybe that's it. And Vicky McClure is one of the most beautiful women in the world. She's stunning.

Wee Steve however? Unfathomable. Maybe the waistcoats are a big spoiler alert clue that he's actually a magician/Darren Brown type and he actually hypnotises women into bed? The LETTER of the magician's circle code, fella.

My favourite is Gill 'ooooh Ted' Bigelow though.

Where did you get that one @Pan2, 1976? Actually spat my tea out!
MintyCedric · 07/04/2021 14:39

@HoldontoOneMoreDay (epic name btw)

My jury is out on Gill...I really liked her to begin with, went right off her by the end of Series 3, but from what a friend tells me I suspect she may come good again at some point.

She reminds me a bit of the fabulous Gerri in Succession.

I think it MAY have been 1976! Or earlier....

AgentCooper · 07/04/2021 14:49

Gill Bigelow was actually a legend. ‘I’ll save your blushes, Ted.’ Grin She always looked that pleased with herself!

Vicky McClure is ridiculously beautiful but she has had a few Playmobil haircuts. I always wondered if that was because her hair kept getting cut really short for the This is England stuff.

She's what used to be called 'blousy' I think. If I want to give DH the buying signals I cut about the house purring 'oooooohhh Teeeeedddddd' at him.

@TopBitchoftheWitches

Yes because Steve is the fit one.
I'm pretty sure there's something in the Talk Guidelines prohibiting this kind of nonsense.

Mother o' God, DC TopBitchoftheWitches you will return to the thread this instant and justify your life choices.

I’m in love with Ted.

I love grumpy men

I have just finished series five having watched 1-5 back to back. And my feelings have only intensified Grin

Steve and especially Kate (who was a little to eager to bring him down) doubting him was treacherous Angry

I don’t trust Kate

Stillfunny · 07/04/2021 15:11

This must give a huge boost to thousands of middle aged , NI cliche spouting men. Come on over, there are loads of Teds about . And no passports needed!

Stillfunny · 07/04/2021 15:12

And I quite fancied Corbett myself in a thuggish kind of way .

Me too. Even found his accent sexy, which made me wonder if I'd lost it in lockdown, because for someone born overseas, Liverpudlian is really quite hard to understand.
Haveyoubrushedyourteeth · 07/04/2021 15:17

I have found my people!

littlepattilou · 07/04/2021 15:19

There is something appealing about him for sure.

The fact he is Irish, is one obvious attraction (to me anyway!) Grin

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 07/04/2021 15:20

GrinGrin at "ooooooh Teeeeeedddddd" as an all systems go signal for dh

Stephen Graham is VERRRRRY appealing. Rugged and rough and ready, and I LURRRVE the scouse accent! Grin

Watch THE VIRTUES if you can. (May be on BBC iplayer.) It was SO good, and Stephen was fab in it. Also amazing in This is England!

OhWhyNot · 07/04/2021 15:28

Stillfunny do they walk around with an air of authority and use terms like ‘I’m the senior ranking officer here darling’ or ‘wee girl’

NewSong · 07/04/2021 15:30

Ted's only interested in bent coppers!

Also loved Stephen Graham too, won't say anymore due to spoilers.
I remember seeing Jodie (can't remember her second name) from Killing Eve thanking him at an awards ceremony for his support.

mammmamia · 07/04/2021 15:32

Mother of god!

I find Vicky Mc’s acting so wooden!

TopBitchoftheWitches · 07/04/2021 15:38

That made me laugh. Now reporting for duty, sir.

Cowbells · 07/04/2021 15:40

Stephen Graham acts the rest of them off the screen.
