Totally putting because it's my face but I don't care.

Started off with a small pain at 4pm and bit of redness. Got worse, pain got worse, kept getting a crackling sensation.
More pain and redness so I went to minor injuries.

There's nothing in there and no abrasion. And in the meantime the blood redness spreads but so does the fluid so they say it's an allergic reaction.

I go home, unconvinced. The eye is feeling better since I put a patch on.

I just took it off and took a photo and there's like a crater under the surface.

What the actual fuckery is this?

It's happened once before and no one knew what it was then either.

Any ideas?!

How much is “far too often and too long” for your contacts ?

I am guilty of this, I think

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 23/03/2021 18:12

did he give you somethign for your dry eye op?

dieblauenStrumpfhosen · 23/03/2021 18:33

@AnyFucker

it was rude to question the OP

Why don’t you leave that to the op to make her own mind up ? You are guilty yourself in assuming she is offended by me. I very much think she has other things on her mind right now.

Yeah you knew she had other things on her mind and yet you thought it was an appropriate time to start questioning her validity as a poster.

Happy to question others, but not happy to be called out on it?

As soon as I wake up it's the first thing I do. So about 6am (it was 5am until recently) and they stay in until I go to bed about 10pm, 7 days a week.

Apparently after you wake up you should wait an hour before you put them in.
And give them a rest earlier in the evening and more on weekends. He said eyes will be ok with this for a long time but we'll pay for it later on in life when they start showing the damage it has done.

He didn't give me anything for the dry eyes apart from the above advice, because that's the cause of the dry eyes.

I recommend these for the night time. They're very soothing. I get irritated eyes as well, from contacts.

It's really important not to wear contacts for long periods as they prevent oxygenation of the cornea (it's pretty much the only body part that relies on diffused oxygen) and cause dryness. Both can result in micro trauma/corneal degeneration that can have longterm effects.

You should also remove them after swimming/wetting your face as if non-sterile water gets in them it can cause serious infection

Yep, not enough people know about this and I've had longer-term problems with my eyes because of it.

OP get glasses just to give your eyes a break as often as you can. Otherwise you'll find you get more problems - irritations, infections and dryness in your eyes as you get older.

Hope your eye is better soon.

GabsAlot · 23/03/2021 20:03

do you have any glasses op you really need to rest that eye

Glad you've had it checked out again OP, it looked really sore/terrifying (and made me do a small shriek! Blush).

Hope it feels better soon. Flowers

I used to overwear my contact lenses, from waking up to going to bed.

One day I woke up and couldn't open my eyes. I had totally fucked them.

Now I have to have the blood vessels monitored and can't wear lenses. It's a real nuisance so don't do what I did.

Books say they are painless but actually in real life they cause a lot of bruising type discomfort

Oh yeah I have glasses. It just never used to enter my mind to use them much.

It will now! 👀

Oh god, this thread has scared me into not putting my contact lenses in today. I’ve never been told off by the optician for the amount I wear mine (7am-10pm weekdays, a little bit less at weekends) and they always ask at my lens checkup, is this really bad?

I don’t wear contact lens, but my mum used to wear gas permeable ones. She had them in 1st thing to last thing. Is this advice for disposable lenses?
