Totally putting because it's my face but I don't care.

Started off with a small pain at 4pm and bit of redness. Got worse, pain got worse, kept getting a crackling sensation.
More pain and redness so I went to minor injuries.

There's nothing in there and no abrasion. And in the meantime the blood redness spreads but so does the fluid so they say it's an allergic reaction.

I go home, unconvinced. The eye is feeling better since I put a patch on.

I just took it off and took a photo and there's like a crater under the surface.

What the actual fuckery is this?

It's happened once before and no one knew what it was then either.

Any ideas?!

Holy shit, get thee to the eye hospital!

Reinventinganna · 22/03/2021 21:13

Did you put pressure on it with the patch?

annacondom · 22/03/2021 21:13

Conjunctivitis?

LadyEuphemia · 22/03/2021 21:13

I’d go to A&E right now with that. I get cold sores near my eye, and have been told to go to A&E if I get anything like you have on my eye ball. Get it checked.

Somanysocks · 22/03/2021 21:13

Ooh yes, that looks sore. You could possibly do a walk in to your optician. Mine allows that sort of thing and didn't charge.

EspressoExpresso · 22/03/2021 21:13

Do you have allergies? I have multiple allergies, one of which is cats and in the past when I've got a cat hair in my eye, the actual eyeball has had a fluidy swelling appear where the hair was. Never any broken blood vessels though!

Is your eyesight ok?

Nearlyneverready · 22/03/2021 21:14

Scleritis or episcleritis maybe? I’d ask an optician to have a look at it

AmandaHugenkiss · 22/03/2021 21:14

I’d go to A&E with this first thing, there should be someone on they can bleep in ophthalmology to take a look. It looks like an ulcer. Do you wear contact lenses?

Veterinari · 22/03/2021 21:15

It looks like you've burst one of the tiny blood vessels on your eyeball.

Not usually a problem and self limiting.
Obviously if painful or vision changes then seek medical help

If uncomplicated and you don't rub/irritate it. It will clot and heal by itself (may change colour as the blood resorts, like bruises do)

AnyFucker · 22/03/2021 21:15

Holy FUCK

alwaysscared · 22/03/2021 21:15

Wow, I'd be off to A&E with that!

WhiteBricks · 22/03/2021 21:16

Only following the follow up picture tomorrow OP Grin

I really hope it's nothing sinister though and you get seen quick at the eye hospital!

EyeballWHAAAAAAT · 22/03/2021 21:16

@annacondom

Conjunctivitis?
LOL 😁

Oh wow, agree with everyone else even more now, definitely go to the hospital. That looks so painful, and potentially needing treatment. How is your vision in that eye?

gottakeeponmovin · 22/03/2021 21:18

Fuck that's horrible I can't unsee it

EyeballWHAAAAAAT · 22/03/2021 21:18

Yes I do.

But the actual pain started above the contact lens.

Nonetheless I'm not ruling that out as the cause somehow.

Is it actually sore / painful right now? I think I'd be at the eye hospital with that, TBH. Unless I had a specific diagnosis & treatment already.

Whattodoffs · 22/03/2021 21:19

My DP had something similar last year and the optician in Specsavers seen him as an urgent case . They were amazing and arranged to see him a week later as a follow up.
Might be worth a go x

TheLurkingOne · 22/03/2021 21:21

It could easily be a type of conjunctivitis. I was once in a beach resort and every other person there caught it, just like your picture. Red cornea.
It might be something more serious, it might not. Get it checked out.

AnExcellentWalker · 22/03/2021 21:21

You wear lenses? Definitely go to the eye hospital.

Theythinkitsalloveritisnow · 22/03/2021 21:22

Jesus I'd definitely go to A&E. Don't take risks with eyes!

WhySoSensitive · 22/03/2021 21:23

What if it’s one of them little worms that live in your eyeballs 👀

CityCommuter · 22/03/2021 21:25

@EyeballWHAAAAAAT that looks very sore. Not meaning to scare you but did A&E check for parasites in the eye... these can only be seen with specific medical / optical equipment. Do you ever rinse your eyes out with tap water or while in the shower as this is when parasites can get in. If you wear contact lenses they should never be worn while swimming or showering as parasites can get trapped behind the eye and therefore burrow into the eye ball and will leave a crater type hole. It's treated with antibiotic eye drops.

I never wash my face with water or anything as you suggested for the very reason of bugs living in my eyes.
I saw a video about that once and I was bloody horrified!

Iritis? I'm a contact lens wearer and I've had that before.
