Totally putting because it's my face but I don't care.

Started off with a small pain at 4pm and bit of redness. Got worse, pain got worse, kept getting a crackling sensation.
More pain and redness so I went to minor injuries.

There's nothing in there and no abrasion. And in the meantime the blood redness spreads but so does the fluid so they say it's an allergic reaction.

I go home, unconvinced. The eye is feeling better since I put a patch on.

I just took it off and took a photo and there's like a crater under the surface.

What the actual fuckery is this?

It's happened once before and no one knew what it was then either.

Any ideas?!

@picknmix1984

I'm always bemused why people have these sudden acute injuries and trauma and think to post on Mumsnet before they think to go to A and E? It beggars belief!
You might have saved yourself some bemusement by reading the original message properly - you would have seen that OP had already been to Minor Injuries.

Do you not have an eye casualty near you?

dieblauenStrumpfhosen · 23/03/2021 10:18

@AnyFucker

You've been banned yourself there have you not?

Yes. Several times. What’s your point ?

Glass house, throwing stones.
joystir59 · 23/03/2021 10:19

Disappointed!!!

Metheven · 23/03/2021 10:31

Just a thought, have you been bitten by a zombie in the past 24 hours?

ShirleyPhallus · 23/03/2021 10:47

Wow this thread has a lot going on!

Keep us updated OP!

Laila747 · 23/03/2021 10:47

Bloody hell OP...that looks so painful!! You poor thing Flowers

I think you should definitely wear goggles, forever, just to be on the safe side!
Hope you get it sorted soon!

@dieblauenStrumpfhosen

Do you not have an eye casualty near you?
Yes and no.

Yes 20 minutes away by car, but a but more like an hour with taxis and trains if I can't drive.

I've got an optician appointment at lunch time, and I managed to juggle my patients as well, so I can see them - be it virtually.

Will update but I doubt it will be anything interesting.

A cherry of a cigarette in your EYE?

Yeah was lying on a sofa and partner reached over to put a fag out and the cherry fell off and it went straight into my eye. The noise was revolting. Just remember thinking "did that really just happen?" then the pain and panic set in

Goggles probably not a bad shout Grin

jellybellybanana · 23/03/2021 10:54

Thank you. I feel pretty confident it's just a haematoma as well now

""Just" a haematoma can leave you blind in that eye.

Are you an opthamologist? Why didn't you say?

does it though?

Get our BP checked?

DumplingsAndStew · 23/03/2021 11:12

From what I've read a Sub-conjunctival haemorrhage shouldn't be accompanied by pain.

You definitely need it looked at.

Yeah that's what I read as well. But the person on the phone at the eye hospital seemed to think it would be at the site where it burst.

PP I checked my BP a few times and that seemed fine.

Glass house, throwing stones

Do shut up, you obviously have your own agenda as to why I am asking why op was banned

Op, you are not the person I was thinking of. That was potentially a safeguarding/DV situation which was why I was probing a bit more.

How you get to see someone at some point though these days it feels nigh on impossible. How about a pharmacist in the guise of asking eye drops are appropriate management? If you get an experienced one, they might have come across this dramatic presentation many times before. They might also have Holy Water.

I saw that yellowing around the eye too, but thought it was that yellow / green dye that sticks to the cornea.

The anesthetic they use to examine your eye is bright yellow.

OP

My systemic BP is OK (I do take meds) but the pressure in my eyes can be high with the iritis.

I also hate the air puffy thing and make the optician take my pressure with the one that touches your eye.

Please feel free to shut up yourself. You are not the MN police and it was rude to question the OP, about something you made up in your head, clearly.
Haenow · 23/03/2021 14:40

How’s it going? I needed the eye A&E a few months ago. They were doing video triage calls which was helpful. They needed to see me in person but were able to reassure me as it was late afternoon and they said it could wait until the next day when I had childcare. They booked me in the following morning. This was Moorfields if you’re near it, highly recommend!

Staffy1 · 23/03/2021 14:59

Get an appointment with specsavers. Ask for an emergency one. They are pretty good at seeing people at short notice for things like this.

namechangefordignity · 23/03/2021 15:23

How are you getting on

AnyFucker · 23/03/2021 17:20

it was rude to question the OP

Why don’t you leave that to the op to make her own mind up ? You are guilty yourself in assuming she is offended by me. I very much think she has other things on her mind right now.

EyeballWHAAAAAAT · 23/03/2021 17:45

I didn't find it rude, I didn't really notice, I just noticed a couple of different people ask as I scrolled down.

Boring update. I got to the appt and the fit South African guy said straight away that he was 95% sure it was a sub thing (can't be arsed to fail at spelling it again), I told him I had searing pain in it, and he confirmed that that isn't usual.
I showed him the photo that I posted on here last night and then he started to look concerned.

However, he took ages looking at my eye, it's misshapen at one part but otherwise it just looks like a very large burst vessel.

If it happens again soon then to call my GP about underlying conditions that need to be checked out.

Weirdly enough a vessel burst in my thumb this weekend, but I'm sure it's just coincidence because that has also happened to me once before, years ago.

Oh, and he says I wear my contact lenses for far too long too often, and asked if my eyes have been dry recently (they have, it's been really annoying) so it might have aggravated my eye.

Boring update I'm afraid!

That sounds reassuring. Maybe just use your glasses for a while until you are fully healed up. Give your eyes a rest.

notturningintopowerranger · 23/03/2021 17:51

I haven’t rtft, but I and another person I know got this shortly after we both got positive Covid tests, Covid apparently affects blood vessels, so that could be it?
