Totally putting because it's my face but I don't care.

Started off with a small pain at 4pm and bit of redness. Got worse, pain got worse, kept getting a crackling sensation.
More pain and redness so I went to minor injuries.

There's nothing in there and no abrasion. And in the meantime the blood redness spreads but so does the fluid so they say it's an allergic reaction.

I go home, unconvinced. The eye is feeling better since I put a patch on.

I just took it off and took a photo and there's like a crater under the surface.

What the actual fuckery is this?

It's happened once before and no one knew what it was then either.

Any ideas?!

I saw that yellowing around the eye too, but thought it was that yellow / green dye that sticks to the cornea. Admittedly I've only seen that used at the vet, but maybe it gets used for people too?

Either way, that looks horrible OP Sad.

NoProblem123 · 23/03/2021 00:20

I’m also wondering about the ban. It’s keeping me awake and stopping me have eye bursting nightmares.

Shameless placemarking. Hope you’re ok OP.

WarmAndFluff · 23/03/2021 00:22

If you want to google the parasite that can cause infections with contact lenses, it's called Acanthamoeba.

Various types of worms that can occur in eye infections are very very rare in the UK, and normally come from traveling to endemic areas of the world.

TaraR2020 · 23/03/2021 00:24

@ShutUpAlex

Fuck me OP you need to call a priest.
😂

Seriously, op, get thee to an a&e!!

And keep us updated.

SeaShoreGalore · 23/03/2021 00:36

What did you get banned for?

Xoxoxoxoxoxox · 23/03/2021 00:43

I had a burst blood vessel in my eye that looked similar, i woke up and it was just there, overnight.
Lasted about a week.

Shrivelled · 23/03/2021 00:50

Sprinkle some holy water on it ASAP.

TheLongDark · 23/03/2021 01:12

Similar happened to me, I had burst tiny blood vessels in my eye and it was caused by ridiculously high BP I later found out, due to work stress. I'd actually go to an Optician rather than A&E as Opticians have all sorts of ways they can see around and inside your eye to see what's going on. I was then sent to the eye dept at the hospital for a full eye check a month later, and my GP put me on tablets for the blood pressure. The Optician said that even though its tiny blood vessels that burst, they bleed a lot which is why your eye ends up looking like something out of a horror movie.

LemonSwan · 23/03/2021 01:39

if it's an "open wound" on your eye it will certainly warrant different treatment than a "sore spot"

Lol I would agree with you but I can assure you this isn't the reality in COVID NHS Land. I sliced my cornea (the jelly bit) in half and there was a visible crevase in my eye. Was refused entry to A&E at the door without even being triaged and told to take a picture on an iphone - apparently eyes are not essential emergency unless the whole jelly/eye has unpeeled! I cant remember his exact words but the A&E doc on the phone was like 'do you still have an eye?', 'err.. yes', 'is the iris still a circle'... 'err I cant actually open my eye but I hope so.'... 'has the eye unpeeled' ... 'err, I dont know what you mean'... 'has it imploded'... 'errr' ... 'if you still have an eye thats a circle there abouts... not an emergency'

Nearly a year later I still cant focus that eye, have double vision and as it healed over 6 months now have severe astigmatism.

Would be hilarious if I didnt have to now live with not being able to read the subtitles.

RizzleRazzle · 23/03/2021 06:10

Please go to A+E this morning!

PandaFluff · 23/03/2021 06:14

Eye hospital or a&e

EyeballWHAAAAAAT · 23/03/2021 06:16

Still alive.
Still in pain.
I won't be able to drive today so I won't be able see patients, I'll have to cancel their appointments which I'm gutted about.

I will be calling the eye hospital in a minute to see if I can go in.

To answer some questions.
I don't have a black eye or leaking. The yellow was from when I was at minor injuries, it's the dye they put in to look for abrasions.

I do drink too much, yes to whoever asked that! Why you ask?!
I'm lot alcoholic levels but I certainly drink
More than the recommended amount!

I took my blood pressure last night to see if that was the cause.
The first one was high and the following three were fine. I think the cuff was badly positioned the first time.

I wasnt 'banned' that was a wrong choice of words on my part. I was suspended for a week again for telling someone to fuck off again because they were being a bit of a dick and I was having a really really stressful day that day.

You've been banned yourself there have you not?

Yes. Several times. What’s your point ?

cultkid · 23/03/2021 06:20

Is your other eye red as well?

Looks so sore you poor thing

sashh · 23/03/2021 06:24

Go to the eye hospital.

I get iritis (the joys of arthritis) and now I go tot he optician for a pressure check of the eyeball and my GP prescribes the right drops but I still need to go to the eye hospital for a proper examination.

Yes I think you’re right, it looks like iodine and that makes perfect sense. Op would have mentioned if she’d had an eye trauma. On an unrelated note I didn’t think you could be banned from mn! You live and learn!
Smiling89 · 23/03/2021 06:39

Go to an opticians and ask for a MECS appointment if they have an optometrist who can do them. If not they should find you an optometrist who can.

You may have seen a "professional" but a lot of nurses and GPs do not know enough about eyes to diagnose everything eye related correctly. You need an ophthalmologist - the optometrist can fast track you to them instead of you sitting in a and e or treat it themselves if they have additional qualifications.

As it is red and you are in pain it should be seen in 24hrs.

LakieLady · 23/03/2021 06:40

@Gazelda, unkind, I know, but your post made me lol so loud I may have woken up the NDNs.

Must have been scarey though.

Iamaperiwinkle · 23/03/2021 06:45

I once took someone to a and e with a sore eye and was sent home - absolutely nothing there we were told. Pain persisted so I took him to the opticians - after an emergency appointment with optician - he was driven to the local eye hospital for an emergency operation - a variety of things including a huge ulcer and a major problem with the optic nerve from something - optician was shocked a and e had missed it. I’d go to the local eye hospital.

LakieLady · 23/03/2021 06:46

It certainly is used for humans, and it gives you alarming bright yellow snot and saliva for a good few hours afterwards!

I was so horrified I rang my ex-nurse DM for advice. She roared with laughter, the old baggage.

kimlo · 23/03/2021 06:47

I had an eye that looked like that, people avoided eye contact for the full 6 weeks it was there.

Eye infection and blepharitis.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/03/2021 07:03

Why’s everyone piling on AF. She’s been around here since the Dawn of time. I saw she showed concern.

Eye pics have made me queasy. Hope the hospital can find the cause and sort you out. Looks painful. Yikes.

Beautiful3 · 23/03/2021 07:10

Ring up an optician tell them it's an emergency and I'm sure they'll squeeze you in. They can tell you what it is.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/03/2021 07:14

This happened to me once many years ago. Eye looked like a fried tomato! It just came out of the blue - I hadn't even done something stupid to it (makes a change! Grin)

I went to the pharmacist and he told me just to use Optrex. I did and it was fine. He seemed very thrilled to be asked a question that didn't involve bunions.

Mine might not have had the same cause as yours though, so get it checked.
