My children are off school with very bad colds (not covid!)
I want to see my friend at her house tonight we had this arranged however she's backed out last second saying that it's not a good idea to meet while my DC are poorly as she can't risk being unwell at the moment which has upset me as it's not covid and I'm not unwell.
Whose being unreasonable?

YABU.

And agin I would echo others and get them tested a friend of mine currently has Covid, as do her children, and she was convinced it was ‘just a bad cold’!

SionnachGlic · 17/03/2021 19:39

If they weren't tested then you can't be absolute it's not covid....why should she risk it (& then there's the rules). Glad to see you agree....

Bilquis · 17/03/2021 19:40

You are, massively. Just because it's not covid and you don't have symptoms doesn't mean you won't have virus on your person that you could transfer to her or her children

ChristmasAlone · 17/03/2021 19:42

How did you think this would plan out. Even if Covid wasn't a thing I wouldn't want people that have people ill in their home round mine. Y

Umbivalent · 17/03/2021 19:43

You know that visiting someone in their home is against the rules, right?

Suzi888 · 17/03/2021 19:43

You (sorry)

Twistered · 17/03/2021 19:45

Oh ffs you are

This can't be real surely

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 17/03/2021 19:46

Are you in the Uk @aibu2021?

Because of course you can't go in to anyone's house.

But now that I see your user name I suspect this is a goady post...

ChameleonClara · 17/03/2021 19:47

Not sure there is much point given the unanimity but - yabu

drumst1ck · 17/03/2021 19:47

You are....

Benjispruce2 · 17/03/2021 19:52

You.

toocold54 · 17/03/2021 19:55

The OP says No not been Covid tested.

I don’t think anyone is that stupid. It’s either a typo or a fake thread.

user7891011 · 17/03/2021 19:56

You

Lubiluxe · 17/03/2021 19:57

Where are you in the world op?

Magnificentmug12 · 17/03/2021 20:02

Your friend, what a waste of an excuse to have more time of work unpaid

baileys6904 · 17/03/2021 20:03

And this, ladies and gents, is why we are still in lockdown and restrictions a year on...

pictish · 17/03/2021 20:05

It wouldn’t occur to me to cancel on my friend because their kid had a cold. No one has ever cancelled on me because my kid had a cold. Does this actually happen?

lunar1 · 17/03/2021 20:07

Fucking hell

billy1966 · 17/03/2021 20:08

Don't embarrass yourself OP.
😬

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 17/03/2021 20:08

so, assuming that you're correct in your assumption that it isn't covid, if you merrily troop round friends houses passing on their germs, if they get the "non-covid" cold, it will compromise their immune system, probably leaving them more vulnerable to getting covid.
ignoring the fact that if you are in the UK, and shouldn't be visiting anyway, stay home with your germy children.

raincamepouringdown · 17/03/2021 20:10

Pretty sure this is why we've had such a shit year all round and it continues for many ... visiting each other when we're not supposed to! My friend's kids are all stuck back at home doing online learning because their school had to close again due to so many covid cases! They've only been back 1 week!

heidipi · 17/03/2021 20:10

Even in normal circs I'd have asked if she wanted to postpone - a sniffle's one thing but who wants a houseful of colds bad enough to be off school with?

But especially now when schools have only just gone back and DC could be sent home to isolate at any time, it seems bonkers to invite another reason for everyone to be off!

SootyandSweepAsleep · 17/03/2021 20:12

@pictish - in normal times, if someone has a bit of a cold I wouldn't cancel, no. But I would if it was a heavy cold - who wants that?!

But in these times, heavy cold symptoms more often than not warrant a COVID test...meaning SI, time off school/work etc etc etc.

ElderMillennial · 17/03/2021 20:13

They need to be tested OP and you should be isolating

Noodle765 · 17/03/2021 20:16

Children with CoVid present with symptoms of cold!!
