My children are off school with very bad colds (not covid!)
I want to see my friend at her house tonight we had this arranged however she's backed out last second saying that it's not a good idea to meet while my DC are poorly as she can't risk being unwell at the moment which has upset me as it's not covid and I'm not unwell.
Whose being unreasonable?

Yabu.

Tal45 · 17/03/2021 19:08

How are you even going to someone's house? Are you not in the UK? How do you know it's not covid if you haven't got them tested. You are totally and utterly unreasonable.

Biggles001 · 17/03/2021 19:08

I don't want your bad cold thanks!! Especially if it is bad enough to keep them off school!!

@aibu2021

No not been Covid tested. No not a reverse. They are off school. I understand now I'm in the wrong, I just thought it being a bad cold was a bit ridiculous to not see someone.
I agree that YABU.

Most people don’t want a bad cold, pandemic or not. However, right now, having a cold runs the risk of the whole family needing to go for a covid test and be off school/work etc whilst waiting for the results and the impact that has.

Surely you can wait a few days to meet up?

multiplemum3 · 17/03/2021 19:09

What is wrong with you?

occa · 17/03/2021 19:09

YABU

TheWaif · 17/03/2021 19:09

Who wants a bad cold?!

Soubriquet · 17/03/2021 19:10

In normal circumstances, I would say it would have been fine

But as it is, your kids could infect her kids, her kids then have to miss school, she has to miss work and it’s a pain in the arse

Jesus fucking Christ.

This has got to be a wind up 🙄

Nicecupofteaandacake · 17/03/2021 19:12

Get them Covid tested ffs.

Velvian · 17/03/2021 19:13

It could easily be Covid. YABU, households of primary school children can get weekly lateral flow tests now:

Seriously? You have to ask?

And are you supposed to be entering other people's homes right now?

CoraPirbright · 17/03/2021 19:14

If they haven’t been tested, how do you know it isn't Covid? It is presenting in all sorts of different ways not just the temp/cough eg for me (and one other person I know) I thought I had a sinus infection. Sinutab really helped but I went to get tested anyway and ta da! Positive for Covid. YABrealllyreallyU.

TheWaif · 17/03/2021 19:14

Ah, I missed they've not been tested.

No way this is real.

BakewellGin1 · 17/03/2021 19:15

Clearly you are.

Myself and a friend were going to meet outdoors tomorrow, however two of her children are off school with a cold (not covid both have been tested)

However both of us agree it is sensible to not meet up even outdoors until they are better and we know she is also germ free.

Covid or not Covid I don't want to be unwell and don't want to pass anything to my children, one of which has just returned to school.

Common sense

Are you in the UK? If so you know the reasons why you shouldn’t be visiting friends indoors. Unless you really are as hard of thinking as you seem 🤔

Covid certainly has brought out the crazies!

Teana89 · 17/03/2021 19:16

How do you know it isn't Covid?

You are being utterly unreasonable even if it is "just" a cold.

Mummy1232016 · 17/03/2021 19:18

You are, just because it’s not Covid doesn’t give you the right to infect her household

Stovetopespresso · 17/03/2021 19:19

yup. its made (most of) us review our choices, not drag ourselves into work 'heroically' whilst downing paracetamol, really review hygene and how we care for each other.

a cold has taken on a whole new dimension. i get you were disappointed though. in the old days, a cold was just a cold!

S111n20 · 17/03/2021 19:19

YABU

LadyDanburysCane · 17/03/2021 19:19

So you don’t actually KNOW it’s not covid! So YABU

However (assuming you are in the U.K.) both you AND friend were being unreasonable to plan to break the rules by meeting up anyway.

LagunaBubbles · 17/03/2021 19:19

How on earth do you know its not Covid if you haventvhad them tested ffs.

Figgyboa · 17/03/2021 19:21

You are! No one wants a cold at the best of times!

Saltyslug · 17/03/2021 19:21

You don’t know if it’s covid or not as you’ve not tested. Your friend sounds sensible
